Would Lancer or Assassin make a better base class leading up to Gallant?
>>
>>48110576
Depends on the character. What are you envisioning?
>>
>>48110721
I'm aiming to make a character for an intrigue campaign dealing with a succession crisis, who can handle themselves both in combat and social scenarios effectively, acting as a champion/agent for whatever faction they choose to align with. I'm aware both Lancer and Assassin are decent at this, though I'm not sure how effective some of Lancer's abilities would be outside of a battlefield/formal duel where they're able to don full armor/arms astride a horse.
>>
>>48110976
Assassin is definitely the choice for more non-combat utility. Of course, non-combat can turn bloody quick, but I think Assassin is the way to go just from what you've posted.
>>
I think they have been anoucing spellbound since 8 years at least.

First for spycraft and now for fantasycraft.

Is Crafty Game even still alive?
>>
>>48112113
IIRC they've been working on Mistborn as of lately.
>>
>>48112113
Yeah I think they just finished a kickstarter for their Mistborn line or something like that. Might have been a board game this time around. Also working on Spycraft 3.0. Fantasy Craft doesn't pay the bills, so it's not a priority.
>>
>>48110576
Assassin/Gallant would be sheer nastiness against Special Characters.
>>
What are some Signature skills that you almost always give your fighty adversaries? With Sense Motive for Taunt and Distract, Resolve for Tire and Threaten, Athletics for a bunch of maneuvers and Notice for Feint, it feels like not giving them any leaves them exposed to too many types of attack, but you can't really protect them against them all either.

Anything that's in melee range should get Athletics I guess, but past that I always wonder what to pick.
>>
>>48113186
A decent competence + attributes works out well enough for things they don't excel in.
>>
>>48112215
Reckon SB will ever see the light of day?
>>
>>48113775
I went through my stat blocks and you seem to be right. I still have a bit of a hard time deciding on attributes so I usually leave everything at 10 except for the primary two. I can't remember if that's what FC recommends or if I took that from D&D4.

>>48114201
They still intend to finish it and I trust they will when they can. After everything that went into it and considering how little work is left, it would be stupid not to, really.

So what's your experience with fanmade content, /tg/? The only times I go looking for unofficial stuff is when I want to run a pregen adventure because I don't have time or inspiration to make one. Do you go hunting for new creatures or character options to add to your games? I know there's a lot of homebrew going on on the FC forums but I've never paid much attention to it. The few times I did, things always seem either unbalanced or not very interesting.

Seeing how Crafty will probably put Fantasy Craft on hiatus after Spellbound is done, homebrew is probably be the only content we'll get in a long while...
>>
>>48117535
I frequent the LtI forum and add whatever new stuff I like. I'm digging the underwater stuff people have been making recently with the Soft, Finfolk, and Snid. Kinda want to do a campaign under the sea.
>>
>>48118109
Always been curious about how that kind of game would play out. I feel like I don't know enough about the ocean to make a campaign there, if that makes sense. I think I just have an issue with underwater civilizations, actually. It's hard for me to imagine anything underwater doing anything other than hunting, sleeping and mating.
>>
>>48118209
Well Finfolk are traders by nature, and Snid are amphibious, so there isn't a lot of bullshittery needed to justify access to surface resources and technology. And since it's fantasy, you can have all sorts of cool shit like underwater farming, oceanic plant and animal matter that are good for weapons and tools, ect.

In terms of locations and plots, I don't even know where to start. Grand reefs, the different zones (deep can be super uncanny), deep sea vents, awesome aquatic fantasy fauna... the possibilities are endless.
