I don't think having the engineer out in the field is the best move, but sure.

Also the main reason I'm worried about running out of loot is what they can do for us. Loot can be used to raise any stat. Pop is one of those. We can use it to recover from all kinds of things.

It can be even used for craftier actions. Like making a credit card to buy things from a vending machine. A vending machine that sells guns or other wonderful goodies.

I'm thinking we need to tone down the rate of fire on the RAGE systems. Doing that we can also increase the size.

I think that's what the Boomers were after.

It's akin to the difference between the MG42 and the .50cal. The .50 was able to actually penetrate light armor and cover and kill infantry just as effectively if not more so.

What this specifically means.

I designed the RAGE such that the rate of fire means it could be made to cover a large area of ground, such as a field covered in zombies, quickly. It could be programmed to fire over miles of gronud in grid formation. A weapon of saturation.

I can see there are probably massive or huge things that normal artillery shells won't kill but is it not still effective as an "areal cleaning" weapon?

I was under the impression that you designed the RAGE turret with such a high rate of fire so it could do multiple duties. For instance unlike BOOM vehicles which need supplementary sonic weaponry for close range duty our RAGE Tanks are pretty much just as comfortable and effective at frontline duty as artillery or anti-air.

The penalty of generalist units is that they lack specialty. They're more the fulcrum than the lever, problem being we currently lack a lever. The foundation is thoroughly in place though, I think.

Sadly, he doesn't follow the aesthetic I wanted us to do (that being WW1 future bandits that use Trench Warfare and Arty) which makes me very VERY sad but he is a warlord and so we must listen to reason.

In regards to the RAGE and SAMFAP artillery, he pounds out three main flaws:

This I think we can solve by developing a selectable fire mode rather than full auto. Where we can choose the rate of fire to fit the fire mission.

If we have a vast field of zombies we need to cover, we can fire many shells over a large area. But if we just need to blow up something with a small fire mission we can select fire as well.

Incresaing the accuracy is also a must to reduce it's inefficiency. The Saturation fire is only good for those massed enemies otherwise for single targest he's right it is a waste. Not only developing select fire but creating more advanced smart shells so we only need to fire "one shell one kill", perhaps gudied by both robotics and psionics.

The shells themselves need to also pack more punch so they can kill bigger things. As mentioned the difference between the MG42 and the .50cal.

All of these will not only be useful for the purpose of base artillery, but also when we plan to deploy RAGE and SAMFAP systems as front line tanks to combat other tanks too.

We certainly do need every advantage we can get, but I think Axum's point is that...well Plasma makes it too easy. It's like giving someone who's training to be a sharpshooter a shotgun. They'll never learn how to actually shoot.

So, on a temporary basis I propose suspension of plasma privileges except for SpecOps forces. Learn how to shoot first then once we're not super green we can re-instate plasma rounds.

Also lets us build a stockpile for when we need it.

There's also the fact that the RAGE system isn't just an artillery system but also an autoloading tank gun to fight enemy tanks.

After we've produced all the Warlord asks for our forces, we can at least redeveop the RAGE specifically for our heavy tank spam. As an autoloader, Five shots in five seconds could mean five dead tanks (or five dead gunships) given the right accuracy and penetration power.

That'll probably be where we start when we dust this off the shelf after the military is rebuilt.

When I think of the RAGE, I think of the German 88mm.

The 88mm had a multirole use. It could be mounted on a tank such as on the Tiger or the King Tiger, or used by infantry as the Pak40. It could fire up into the air as the german 88mm flak. And it could also of course be used to lob artillery shells in indirect fire.

The RAGE essentially turns that into an autoloading system. Instead of a Tiger Tank taking out one enemy tank and then having to wait for the gunner to reload, that time is bypassed with the RAGE"s autoloading system. Now a Tiger doesn't have to wait, and with the rapid rotation can fire upon five tanks in five seconds.

However currently this drawback is that the RAGE isn't calibrated for select fire but has the default stance of fully automatic.

CEO, SAL, go find a nearby think tank that knows anything about flying and pay them for their services. It's a fresh start so we're going to do things right like a real Corps and hire out people before using our own guys.

We're going to start research on two bomber types Accurate Dive Bombers.

A large heavily armored high altitude bomber craft.

Instead of carrying bombs, it will be equipped with a SAMFAP modified to create bombs instead of shells (BOMFAP – Bomb Ordnance Mini-factory Autoassembler Platform). This means it can increase efficiency by creating the right bombs for the right task, from giant heavy bombs to tiny little bombs, or any of the other capabilites of our SAMFAP's like incendiary, flachette, etc. Each plane will be able to make the bombs they need for the right job and the right size with minimal waste.

Planes will be loaded up with resources instead of premade bombs, reducing the risk of explosions. It also means they can be rearmed mid-flight with resources and fuel, removing the need to land and arm again.

Reduced bomb storage requirement means more armor, more room for shields and generators.

As an afterhoughout, it will be equiped with one RAGE system on the underbelly just in case we need to perform AC130 air artillery attacks.

As we are a bandit corp they are charging extra. They have warned us that any crafts we design shouldn't go to high. As some of the defense platforms in orbit are still somewhat functional and will shoot at anything to far up.

I feel we should work on developing our conventional tech, creating good general use infantry and vehicles is always useful.

For instance we could use;

1) Various anti-(personnel, tank, aircraft) vehicles to provide support

2) Armoured personnel carriers, preferably equipped with medical facilities, ammo producers for troops and support guns (light mortars, auto-cannon or heavy machine-gun).

1) Admittedly a need. We're working on the aircraft, we probably ought to purchase schematics for various niches in other vehicles. Right now we've got autocannon tanks (RAGE) and bandit vehicles.

2) We've got ammo producers for our troops. On their backs. They should never run out of ammo unless there's not even scrap metal around. APCs with medical facilities and mortars would be a good addition.

3) Our RAGE tanks kind of fit that bill. They're generalist vehicles adept at everything from artillery to anti-air to direct engagement, though we need to test their effectiveness directly against enemy armor. They should do fine if they remember to use the proper ammunition.

I have an idea for a support vehicle. The CASP (Cloaked Armoured Support Vehicle). Technically a light APC the CLASP's main feature is it's seats are on the outside with light armour as the interior has been taken up by a short range cloaking field which bends light and muffles sound within it to the outside world. It also generates a small shield to deflect light attacks but the majority of it's power goes to stealthing both itself and the small area around it's cargo.

This planet is cut off from the solar system by a massive asteroid field of broken ship parts, as well as active old world superweapon satelites set to quarantine this planet from any orbital entry or escape.

Much of the post apocalyptic planets are like that. I Suspect the absolutely only way to leave the planet may be the giant space elevator if that isn't blocked off too, but Umbra is in control of that.

We have some fine assortment of exotic resources, why not use them for a bit?

Start constructing massive armor plates to cover our flying mountain and its engines, like the spaceships of old. It's entire surface should be armored up to protect the soft rock underneath as well as the buildings upon it from attack.

I think we will do best basing future bot and bot like designs with JAL's brood, at least, things which aren't necessarily built for resource collection or human interface.

Brood hybrid bots come with the advantages of both organic mutations and self replication as well as technologic integration. They can collect and use resources to grow themselves and upgrades can be done via evolutions.

Regular robots will be for resource collection pruposes and human assistance since the brood typically eats resources to grow and doesn't tend to share resources

Interstellar warfare was a very common thing in Pre-Fall, I suspect there are existing planetary countermeasures for that when the galactic governments pressed the collective Oh-Shit button.

Maybe there are people who venture to and fro the stars these days but it's definitely rarer than it was in pre-fall scifi setting
