Does this include mana abilities?
>>
>>48100819
I LOVE IT
>>
>>48100867
No nothing can counter those as far as I know.
But you can stop someone from fetching.
>>
>>48100867
>112.4. Some activated abilities and some triggered abilities are mana abilities. Mana abilities follow special rules: They don’t use the stack, and, under certain circumstances, a player can activate mana abilities even if he or she doesn’t have priority. See rule 605, “Mana Abilities.”

In a word: No.
>>
>>48100819
What's the benefit of using this?
>>
>>48101689
>Gets around "Can't be countered" spells by exiling them
>Counters on cast effects
>Can get rid of everything on the stack with a single spell

It hoses eldrazi and other creatures with on cast effects, and it can completly stop a combo. It's also useful if your opponent is playing a lot of spells and abilities all at once.
>>
>>48100819

This would be able to counter planeswalker abilities wouldn't it?
>>
>>48101933
I mean, yeah, but unless they're actually using the ult and killing the walker, it seems like a pretty bad use of the card.

Mind you, both Chandra and Gideon can tick themselves out now....
>>
>>48100819
>Hahahahaa we will show those control decks just how unfun their control on control matches are!!!!!
>Hahahahahaaa WE WILL MAKE IT COUNTER ALL SPELLS!!!! RESULTING IN YOUR OWN DRAW SPELL BEING COUNTERED!!!! HAHAHAHAAA
>brb buffing permanents again.
Creatures: The Tappening has hit new lows. Give up your control v control mirror by 1 mana and not winning home turf countermagic wars so that you can deal with eldrazi creature power creep "sorcery" abilities
>>
>>48101903
In before a card with "Triggered abilities you control can't be countered."

>>
>>48116571
Maybe Whispers of Emrakul?
>>
>>48116571
Gnarlwood Dryad might see play in death's shadow variants of zoo.

Lone Rider/It that rides as one might see play in soul sister decks.

Eldar Deep-Fiend and Wretched Griff might see play in midrange and control decks that run blue mana and also in some tron variants. Because both cards can be cheated out way below their CMC while offering great value and relatively huge bodies, as well as putting creatures into your grave for more recursion bullshit.

Other then that new Liliana is underwhelming as fuck. On and Eternal Scourge along with misthollow griffon and skaab ruinator might form the core of some exile focused midrange/aggro deck.

Oh gee, I'm so sorry that having Chandra, a pyromancer who solves all of her problems with fire, lighting something on fire is shit taste.

I'll just stop playing Legacy right now. I mean it's not like I've been playing since I was 2004 or anything. Obviously, my shit taste has caused MTG to go down hill.

I mean, it's not from me contributing to pack sales, since I only buy singles.

Or from me entering tournaments.

Or from me collecting cards I just happen to like.

No, it's a singular card with flavor text that actually fits someone's character.

>Oh gee, I'm so sorry that having Chandra, a pyromancer who solves all of her problems with fire, lighting something on fire is shit taste.

it counters everything on the stack via Exile and causes stifle to be used at the same time.
its pretty god damn sweet all things considered.
>>
>>48114923

See, usually I hate all the Chandra flavor-text, but I actually like this one.

You see, this falvor-text has something all of Chandra's cringey flavor-texts lack: a punchline.

You know it doesn't affect the card's playibility right
>>
>>48118148
What playability? it's a two mana sorcery lightning bolt. There is no playability.

The most interesting part of that card is its flavor text.
>>
>>48118434
>There is no playability
Nigger a 2 mana kill spell that hits 90% of the creatures in standard is stupid playable right now.

Avacyn and Thought Knot are pretty much the only creatures that see play that ignore it.

Exactly. It's only playable against other unplayable stuff.

Its a 3 mana planeswalker that protects itself and gains you value as the game goes on. A deck for her might not exist now but she will eventually see play in modern.

She is kinds like the new tamiyo in that the cost and effects are good but it doesn't have a home yet.

>3 mana for a repeatable -2/-1
>doesn't kill goyf
>doesn't kill delver
>doesn't kill finks
>spellskite, swiftspear, nacatl, ooze
>the minus ability that is irrelevant and if you ever use it you're likely to lose Liliana to bolt
>her ultimate is a 4 mana enchantment that doesn't even do anything the turn you use it

Now Tamiyo
>4 mana in a powerful color combination
>auto wins versus merfolk
>card advantage even if she dies
>breaks board stalls
>basically keeps two creatures out of combat permanently
>her ult is a 3 mana sorcery and a 10 mana enchantment and reads "win the game"

Now tell me what kind of deck needs a planeswalker that doesn't answer anything relevant in standard with a useless ultimate and poor recursive abilities? And don't say Delver again because holy shit it doesn't need this card.
>>
>>48122377
Lotv mostly sees play in jund or other BGx decks where you want to trade 1 for 1 and run your opponent out of cards as in a topdeck war your cards are better. Lotv helps in that stratagy.

In a deck where you don't want to discard your cards or is more creature based lotv might not be as good as new lili.

Also new lili might be good in jund mirrors.

She is literally Omniscience on a locky drawy stick. She doesn't fit in any fucking deck right now but her abilities are powerful.

The Oath is a 3 mana edict, how can you possibly call that good? We now have three 2 cmc non-destroy removal spells (one of which hits tokens and another which is transformative) in an actual good color and every deck in standard is perfectly capable of saccing a Thraben Inspector or Plant while you wasted your third turn not playing Thraben+Lieutenant.

>>48122552
I'll give you Bob but Jund runs 10+ mainboard removal spells and 4 LotV which will probably hit Bob on the play anyways and leave you with a decent walker, and if they played goyf instead then you can actually remove that whereas Last Hope can't. Any inclusion of LH threatens the spots of LotV which is unforgivable for the deck.

And no she cannot be run in Delver.

>>48122583
I agree but that doesn't stop her from being powerful and sharing colors with the strongest colors in standard right now.

Don't see a general for it, and don't really want to make a new thread over this. Old threat is pretty much gone as well.

So anyways, it's been about ten years since I played magic, and I thought about building a cheap mill deck to get back into it. This is what I came up with, though like I said, it's been years, so I figure it's likely pretty terrible.

//Creature (12)

I only said she can be played in the SB of Delver decks. Her +1 hits enough and does what Baby Jace does with his +1, her -2 fuels your grave and allows for recursion, and her ult is irrelevant. It'll allow you to grind out decks like Jund without having to rely on bad cards like Ancestral Visions.
>>
>>48122573
>>48122563
She is a planeswalker that gives no incremental advantage unless you are already ahead. I would almost always rather have a collect company. If you are far behind enough to use her abilities defensively, you would be better served by removal. If you are ahead enough to use her abilities offensively, you would be better served by creatures or more aggressive cards. If the board is even, there are better plays you can make that take less colors.

>>48122602
Oath is a nice card because it tries to fix a problem an existing archetype has. This card helps planeswalker super friends decks protect their dudes.
>>
>>48122653
Won't argue with a shitter, you'll eat your own shit anyway when Tamiyo will be played in every top Standard deck.
>>
>>48122649
Yeah it's pretty terrible.

>>48122653
Two heavily played planeswalkers already make tokens and are in a deck that does that.

And being able to handle two creatures/vials for not just your combat but also the next is pretty revolutionary for a walker.

>>48122650
What slots in a Delver list would you side out for LH, and in what matchups?

I'll remind you lists run 4x Thought Scour which happens to be 1 cmc and not 3 cmc while having 13 removal/burn spells that also can be brought back with Snapcaster and flip Delver whereas Liliana does neither of those things.
>>
>>48122628
Playing a baby control deck without bolt just to fag around with new Tamiyo is a good way to lose
>>
>>48122310
>not common
Could have replaced Delver in Izzet Blitz
>>
>>48122472
It might not kill those creatures but it basically puts them out of commission except maybe the ooze if it has stuff to eat. Your opponent cant attack or block with their 1/1 finks -1/1 swiftspear 1/2 nacatl and it does kill a bunch of other stuff like all of infects creatures, bob, most of affinitys stuff, and seer among other things. In a more creature heavy deck this is not bad. Also using her -2 could get her oilled but getting something like kalitas back could be worth it do to how it could just take over a game

New lili is not a jund card but for another deck.

>>48122482
Dont really think it will see much if any play in jund but the fact that it enables one to beat opposing goyfs in the mirror
Is interesting.

>>48122653
Tamiyo's worst case is that she replaces herself. You dont have to be ahead to gain value if the game is fairly even she helps you get ahead with the card draw. I'm speaking in terms of modern. The only reason she might not see any play is that she forces you to play bant when you could play jund or junk.
>>
>>48122707
It honestly depends on the delver list, but Delver isn't the strongest card in many matchups and a few can be boarded out in matchups like Jund, Junk, some control matchups, etc.
If she destroys anything or recurs even 1 card, then she will have done enough and if your opponent uses a bolt on it, then you are golden. I don't know where else she fits, but I'm sure she has a home in modern somewhere, even if it's only SB.
>>
>>48122745
>implying someone would not block with a finks
>implying infect doesn't Inkmoth or has killed you by this point
>implying the affinity deck even cares
>implying literally any removal spell or especially LotV would not be better in each of those cases

>the fact that it enables one to beat opposing goyfs in the mirror is interesting
As does Terminate. Or LotV.
>>
>>48122707
>And being able to handle two creatures/vials for not just your combat but also the next is pretty revolutionary for a walker.

This assume you are
>on the play
>opponent is tapped out
>has two creatures in play
>you have creatures in play or are playing a deck that will eventually have creatures in play this game

Playing this card then having the opponent collected company, heck even flash something in, on your end step is a ridiculous blowout. So much needs to go right for this card to be better than a boardwipe. I can see it having a place in creature mirrors but cards exist in those cases that make this look very bad.

Against a languish deck, I can see the argument of getting card advantage instead of committing more to the board. but even in those cases, you would be better served by CoCoing on their end step and just finishing the game.

On a blank board, this card does nothing.
>>
>>48122351
Vess is two Vampiric Tutors paying no life, at the least. A full combo and a ruined opponent hand at best.
Dark Realms is at least 2 swamps. Fucking stupid ammounts of mana at best.
Veil is a dead creature at least. A opponent turned harmless and waiting for death at best.
Defiant Necromancer is 2 life at least. All of the creatures! at best.
Last Hope is a missfired disentomb at worst. And a slow wincon at best.

You'd literally have to play her in a deck that's all removal, discard, draw and her. And you can still eat an Abrupt Decay at the end of the draw step when you were gonna fire that ultimate.
>>
Does anyone here know about mythicspoiler?
All the spoils so far have been kind of underhwleming to me. New lil is garbage, escalate is ridiculuous. Yet another new bolt that no one will use. Meld. Emerge? I guess. Still alot to be seen, though. Do love the artwork. Also, Volaren Pariah. Since they made Gisa/Geralf, I wonder if they're gonna make other celebrities like Ludevic. They've made 17 Thalias so far, why not
>>
>>48122602
Am I the only person who thinks this card isn't that good?
>>
>>48122792
>Playing this card then having the opponent collected company, heck even flash something in, on your end step is a ridiculous blowout
Yeah because getting attacked by 2-4 creatures buffed by Lieutenant is way worse than just taking 4-6 3/3s to face and losing the game that turn, thanks for the insight anon.

I am guessing since regen is going away, they are trying to find other ways of having skeles. But fuck man, every troll since Alpha had regenerate except one who swapped it for Persist. Then we have this.

If you can't do regen, give it fucking something trolly. Make it work like Relentless Dead and let us pay 6 mana to bring it back when it dies. Something. Or just change the creature type to Beast or Elemental or something.
>>
>>48124145
They still destroy shit. It's just relegated to your own shit now ;^)
>>
>>48124136
All those aggresive delirium creatures make me interested, but there's still one big problem. As most of them require delirium do be significant at all, there is a need for a fast way to enable it that is playable in aggro decks, and other than the top-end demon I see none. Moreover, if you miss with the demon, you're screwed.

I'm guessing for several reasons. Most notably that it's more complicated than they would like. To this day their are people that don't know that regeneration won't stop sacrifice, neg effects, or that it taps/removes the creature from combat.

Another reason I suspect would be that it's been so heavily invalidated by various things that it's nearly pointless to continue printing it.

>I don't get why can't it bounce lands

I think you do. The modern (not the format) magic player is not accustom to having their primary resource attacked in any meaningful way. It creates bad feels several orders of magnitude greater than something like having a creature destroyed. A successful game does not thrive from repelling it's players.

What's bullshit is that wizards hates standard so much, we can't have 1 mana dorks, cheap removal at common, 4 mana wraths, or good tribal effects.

What the fuck happened after dragonsmaze that made wizards think it was a good idea to dumb down standard's power level. Doing that hurts every format except for vintage. Standard did nothing wrong.
