I kinda infodumped on the IRC, but basically my future plans include:

I split up Monster Hunter for my sake only. I shared it only because I thought someone else might feel the same. It's not something I'm trying to force on anyway.
I'm doing the same for several other CYOAs now, because having tried it with Monster Hunter, it greatly increases my ease with which I can scan through and think about builds.

Psyker = Specialize in the "breaking things down" side of the equation which includes what little mental health they have, and a whacked out Psyker is kind of a bad sign. Good at leveling cities and crushing people, though. Outside of that, do not trust.

I do have somewhat of an official chronological order for these, but I won't shove how you play them down anyone's throats.
If you were to ask me...
Gladiator, Guard Duty and the Pick-a-God ones are the ones that happen earliest. They can happen interchangeably; they're meant to be the "origin" type CYOAs. Guard Duty and Gladiator were meant to be separate origins, and I'm brainstorming for other ideas of an upbringing, but I'm not dismissing the idea that you can chronologically play both.
Town Builder/Nobility can happen after those, but it can also serve as an "origin" type CYOA. It'd make more sense chronologically to start off as a guard/gladiator slave first, then somehow get ownership of a town.
Sue Slayer, Battlemage, and Fortress Builder happen after that, interchangeably. My idea is if you start off as a sue slayer and then become a battlemage, you're liable to be a more powerful battlemage. Battlemage is meant to be the core CYOA to this, anyways.
The idea of Fortress Builder is that you're some sort of military officer given charge of a fortification of sorts. Think of it as sort of an Overlord mentality, except you're not some "Lord of the Realm" or anything like that. I'm planning on basing its mechanics on Star Dust. Chronologically, it can happen any time after Town Builder/Nobility.

I'm writing 30 extremely short tales for the 30 options in my CYOA and it's probably going to come out to about 60 paragraphs after I combine the advantages and disadvantages for each option, which is pretty hilarious in hindsight because you don't get to pick more than two. Generally I write too much the first time then cut it down to something approaching reasonable when I do a spelling / grammar check, but I don't see it getting smaller than that.
Afterwards I'll go back to the bigger CYOA that's closer to being finished than this one.

As far as I know, all of the important cyoa makers use Photoshop.
However, I'm poor and don't have it, so whenever I can be arsed to flex my nonexistant cyoa talent, it's usually some work done in GIMP.
If you're using Paint, stop, please. For your sake and the sake of whoever is unfortunate enough to read whatever garbage comes out of it, regardless of how good you are at designing or making cyoas.

People largely Photoshop and GIMP, fewer use Paint (Ordion, Italics), nobody talks about Paint.NET and I stopped trying with it, and one person uses Adobe Illustrator I think.
Stuff in Photoshop generally does end up heavier on the design elements, but personally I have no stake in what you use. If it's legible and the content is something that I can enjoy, that's enough for me.

Inspiration: Mostly for myself, I want to make CYOA that captivates the entire /cyoag/ and turns them into my adoring audience. Also I want to know speechifying.
Empath: I will force lust on women I find attractive and men of solid build, cursoity used to bring them to my manse and then lust to have them enjoy each other's bodies for my amusement. I shall speak in captivating sermons of beauty and on the worship of beauty through lustful acts. After they worship me, I'll accquire more worshippers. Slowily after I have enough scattered around the city I'll pull a section of town to my desires, then the entire ity. Eventually I'll 'visit' places and pull them towards lust. My followers (who are prosletizing are looking only for attractive people and make themselves available) find people while I've put a area under my spell and approach them. Offering them a way out of their daily life and using the opening to offer them relief carefully worded. Told to avoid sociopathic tells, or the fat and otherwise ruined. While they will speak with those who approach them briefly, they mostly are there to scout for appropiate worshippers to beauty.

I have the text all written up, but point values for balancing and the colour scheme are what's blocking me.
Every background I try either doesn't fit the cyoa or clashes with the green/teal/magenta stat icons.
I'm tempted to just throw a black background on it and say to hell with it, but my last cyoa had a black background and I don't want to get in a bad habit.

An 80-100 ton flying lizard is objectively powerful in almost every setting, but I think the real power comes from that mildly bullshit conceptual magic.
