The basic BodyMod body - unless you put ranks into Endurance - has the average immune system of an early 21st century human. Meanwhile, the germs of 40k have 38000 years of evolution over you. Realistically, the odds are that most depowered jumpers who managed to avoid getting murdered outright instead died in agony from space-flu within a week of meeting the ship's tribals.

Minerva and I spend a great deal of time integrating past technology into the systems and databanks of the ACU Light of Terra. Especially the tech of Iji, Terminator, Red Line, and Teen Titans, as well as the Magitek of Final Fantasy XIV. I had previously scanned pretty much everything and then some with my scanner from Iji. Still, every bit of tech I have gets scanned or programmed in. After all, we have 1000 years to get it done in. We don't participate in many battles, due to the fact that most attackers back off after we demonstrate some of the weapons against nearby uninhabited planets. Typically after that, they would either be open for negotiations or they would want to take our stuff. Negotiation was typically more successful, we got their blueprints and they got to leave. When the Seraphim attacked and started trouncing everyone, I gave the three factions an ultimatum. Either work together and stop giving a shit about whether someone was vanilla or psychic or a cyborg or a psychic cyborg, or I would leave them all to their fates. Before they could get their dander up about that I then said I would give them a few of my blueprints if I saw them straighten up and act right. Not to mention I would take the fight to the Seraphim. At first they were very down on the idea of working together, but they were taking more and more losses. When they got on board with me, I started turning the tide with my fleets of automated gunships. When they got a number of my lesser improvements, they started doing better as well. In the end, we won and they didn't hate each other as much anymore.

Nah, what makes it awful is because it's constructed to be completed by anyone who chooses to keep the deadlight, to the point where it can serve as a starting jump while giving loads of power, while breaking it is extremely dangerous for non late-chain jumpers and frankly has no reward better than what keeping the deadlight intact does.
There's no reason to break the deadlight even if you can get away with it, and no reason not to jump it even if you can't, because your better off on that route than not. You still don't understand evolution. Pathogens now aren't any more deadly than pathogens 50,000 years ago. Bacteria adapt to get around your specific defenses and your specific defenses adapt to deal with it. One strategy becomes too good, and you adapt to take them out in a new way.
