No, growing actually.

The 9th Age is a legitimate game with fans. Since Fantasy fans will not stop rejecting Age of Sigmar lore and models, and GW has never produced a balanced Warhammer since 2e, its unlikely the reboot rules will change that.

They canonically do, vis. Elfslayer, where a corsair captain keeps numerous human concubines and the black ark has an entire district dedicated to sex clubs, many of which include human, uh, employees.

That doesn't mean the humans are having fun, though.

Meanwhile, for some reason dwarves never even consider getting it on with humans.

I wonder why elves are always the race with the human relations, especially since dwarves and humans in WFB are canonically (mostly) bros.
>>
>>47995238
Dorfs probably find humans gross, all stretched out and lanky with no honor.
Warhammer elves are all degenerates though.
>>
>>47995238
>Meanwhile, for some reason dwarves never even consider getting it on with humans.

You say that, but Felix and Gotrek journeyed with a slayer known for his lechery. He "courted" several women and claimed that the stories of him fucking two elven women at once was untrue - only one was an elf, and a half-elf at that.
>>
>>47995238
Basically in Warhammer the vast majority of the public is Neutral Evil as opposed to True Neutral. Ignorant racist assholes who act on either pride or fear depending on their race before all other things including logic.

What sets Warhammer Fantasy apart from Wahammer 40000 is the heroes are Lawful Good leaning on Lawful Neutral instead of Lawful Neutral leaning on Lawful Evil.

To put it bluntly.

Then in Age of Sigmar, the alignments are just Order/Chaos and Order/Chaos.

Sigmar is Order Order, Nagash is Order Chaos, Archaon is Chaos Order, Gorkamorka is Chaos Chaos. The common man does not have an alignment, they are too unimportant.

You joke about that but I remember reading the GW webstore's blog a year or so ago and there were a pair of skink shamans taken from their flickr pool being addressed with female articles and pronouns I didn't check how it was written in the original language though
>>
>>47995619
To be fair it can happen in Age lore. All Lizardmen other than Slann are extinct, new Skinks and Saurus and ColdOnes etc are just Light magic shapes into what the Slann imagine it to be and are sent on missions.

In theiry they can shape it into anything, or go senile and start imagining Argonians.

Catch a female, raise it away from the overpopulation and breed two generations, and you get non-crazy non-gay rats.

Or maybe it works in Age lore. Saurus blood cleansed a Nurgle Champion on the verge of Daemon Princedom to the point that he became a Sigmarine Primarch, maybe Saurus blood can make Fancy Skaven of Shallya.
>>
>>47996110
You know, totally out of context, but I think I like the idea of a god of health/whatever using rats as a bulwark against disease. Seems like it could be really interesting.

Honestly, part of what i found most interesting about Lizardmen in WFB is that although for most of their history they were essentially biological robots following a prime directive, the situation got so shitty that they started developing traits common in other societies - worshiping a god, debate on what is the right course of action, genocidal hatred of Skaven instead of simply defending their borders and working towards the plan. If somewhere along that line they started developing gender roles for whatever reason, I wouldn't have been too surprised.

>>47996014
>Can fuck griffons

What

If I had to pick two out of three, I'd chose lizardmen and skaven. At least they're intelligent.

Rodents are very useful in nature, they're a lot like birds who plant seeds and forget leading to new growth plus fungus that rids nature of rot so new life can appear. They were also used in American Victorian through roaring 20's art, mouses and rats, to depict the idyllic country life and memories of childhood and farm barns. It gained a resurgence in the 1940's too, and didn't entirely die out in the 30's.

By contrast, the disease aspects as we all know comes from medieval belief that they cause rot and sickness to occur. By purging their metaphorical fleas, AKA Choas tendencies and overpopulation-induced insanity, they could possibly become more like Pathfinder Goblins than Nazi Kobolds.

But they're also less likely to be pedophiles, rapists, cannibals, gang members, self-mutilators, teenage parents, abandoning parents, prone to sudden mass killings, and loud selfish assholes.

Overpopulation is scary.

I've got these Eldar, and I'm a few Elves short of a full unit.

I'm not familiar with 40k lore, but what would happen if some of these fell through the Warp and wound up in Ulthuan? Would they get along with the High Elves? Join them maybe?
Or are Eldar too much of a bunch of assholes for that?
>>
>>47999706
It would be completely legal and canon in AoS.
>>
>>47999706
I imagine they'd see them as wayward kin, much like Exodites - Eldar in 40k that settled on worlds and decided to go Amish, more or less. Depending on the Craftworld, they'd get along very well.

Or you could just say it's very exotic armor from one of the Elves in one of the outposts at a distant part of the Old World.

So I'm trying to get the last of my Skaven forces before ending new purchases of Warhammer and just playing what I have.

Ebay has served me well for most of the models I needed but it seems like the old Plague Monks box is totally gone.

The Age of Sigmar Plague Monk box is priced okay but does anyone know if there's any difference about what's inside it? The models on the box (see pic) look the same but I imagine I'll have to go buy some square bases elsewhere for the unit (anyone have a source for that btw?).

tdlr; are models inside the AoS Plague Monks box any different (less sprues etc)

Yeah this box. Through some careful magneting you can make your catapult switch between that and a WLC. The furnace kit comes with the bits for the bell too but is trickier to magnetize, I just use the bits as a grey seer on foot and a rat ogre, also you can put the plague priest from the kit on a 20mm base and he'll still fit on his spot on the furnace so you can use him on foot too if you like.
>>
>>48008593

I should point out that there is a more expensive box that I was considering. Its actually more of a legit army, it has a lot more stuff you'll field if you play that Skaven list. Censer Rats, a Verminlord, and a Plague Priest for $175 instead of $85. Its cheaper than buying them individually, mostly since the Censer rats are expensive as fuck and Verminlords are ridiculously pricey too now, but I decided not to when I got the Mierce Skaven Verminlord instead.

But as I recall it was a decent-ish discount.

As an Ogre Kingdoms fan I'd love to see them get more units so I've come up with some myself, with a little lore attached to explain why such an expansion could happen.

The lore for Ogres says they are highly resistant to Chaos, but can still be corrupted by it eventually. Hence if Chaos wanted to take control they would probably find it easier to do so 'politically'. A story in the 8e army book talks about the Challenge Stone, where an Ogre tribe have fought the Warriors of Chaos for generations to control this ancient monolith. My idea would be for that tribe to be corrupted by chaos, say (in typical ogre fashion) by going a little overboard and consuming far too much demon at once, say a felled Bloodthirster and experiencing demonic power. A chaos God could then offer the Tyrant the power to conquer the Ogre Kingdoms, in exchange for forsaking the Great Maw and pledging allegiance to Chaos.

This new Chaos Ogre army would allow for an influx of unique units, and the response from the traditional Ogre clans would be to mobilise everything they've got. If the Chaos God were to instruct the Chaos Ogres to subjugate the Chaos Dwarves (since the Dark Lands are very close by) and turn them from Hashut to the four major gods, it would give purpose for the Chaos Dwarves to extend their relationship with the ogres to create new weapons of war.

Finally I should point out that both come with a different exclusive warscroll.

The way AoS works is you get bonuses if you have the official GW Warscroll, which requires you to take a specific deployment plus whatever else you bring in your army.
Basically GW's morally bankrupt scheme to make WAACfags buy shit they don't need in bundles to get bonuses that should be in the core rules. Its exactly like tabletop DLC bundles or free to play/pay to win games.

I have no idea if there is a market for those, but you may be able to sell it to make back some of the cost.

any good lore books?
>>

No idea about AoS but skaven are solid in fantasy between the huge numbers, loads of tarpits, dirt cheap warmachines, plague monk blenders, HPA, and great redirectors in the form of "rat darts". Expect to lose a lot of guys though.

Yes, slaves are 2pts a model and effectively ld 9 with rerolls from your bsb so they'll tar pit just about anything, best part is that you can shoot into combat with your slaves.

Skaven are great in Fantasy. Their shtick is in theory gambling on high damage, high losses plus low morale, but they kill more than they die and when they do fail its spectacularly hilarious.

In 9th Age everyone is balanced, but Skaven didn't lose anything and in fact are more streamlined to provide what named characters gave without having named characters.

AoS has literally no balance, at all, in any way other than a rule where if you are outnumbered it gets harder for the other player to win (solution is only take the strongest possible models, no weak redshirts ever). Every game requires gentlemanly conduct and the admission you win or lose mostly because of lists. There is a set of rules to provide balance and listbuilding guidelines, but as of now you can take ten Nagash, an Archaon, the Glottkin, and a Verminlord and call it afair and balanced legal army. So tl;dr on AoS is "It doesn't matter".

In 8th ed they were a solid tier two army.

In age of sigmar they're alright, they lack the keystone bullshit units that some other factions have.
>>

*there is a list of rules coming

Forgot to put that in, sorry. Basically AoS crashed hard, so GW is doing a soft reboot to address complaints.
They're ditching the idea of loose gaming with three rulesets includinv a competitive AKA "Actually Trying To Be A Game" rule set, and the complaints that the common man doesn't matter in a world of demigods by having a campaign based in the Realm of Life where apparently the local version of the Empire is like German human Wood Elves and live with a race of half-tree Wood Elf men (as in all males, females are still 100% tree) and Archaon/Nurgle wants to skullfuck it. Also, Alarielle is now Hera complete with peacock imagery plus a God Emperor halo and rides a giant happy beetle.

You know, I'm pretty new to whfb, both the system and lore, but question: Why do things like Zombies, Orks, Skaven Slaves and marauders stay in perfect block formations? It seems weird that these usually dumb/mindless hordes can march coherently. Also, I have a few lore questions:

What is life like for the average citizen of the Empire?
Are there any female skaven? Do Skaven just evolve out of rats, or do they just happen like beastmen do?
How smart is the average skeleton? Are they similiar in intelligence to humans, and is there a wide enough gap between those from the tomb kings and vampire counts to make a difference?
Exactly how does the empire function? It seems like the country side is filled with peasants while the city has actual people.
How does Chaos work with undeath?

Bonus question: Whats your favorite piece of lore?

> Why do things like Zombies, Orks, Skaven Slaves and marauders stay in perfect block formations? It seems weird that these usually dumb/mindless hordes can march coherently.

because that's how every other model in the game marches and it's fantasy's version of unit coherency

>Are there any female skaven? Do Skaven just evolve out of rats, or do they just happen like beastmen do?
there's no canon origin of skaven afaik but "evolved from rats" is one "theory"
there are female skaven called breeders but they only have two brain cells to rub together and only exist to bear the strongest skaven's children
>How smart is the average skeleton? Are they similiar in intelligence to humans, and is there a wide enough gap between those from the tomb kings and vampire counts to make a difference?
they have no intelligence, they are bones animated to swing a sword

>What is life like for the average citizen of the Empire?

About equivalent to a European living during the Renaissance. More dangerous in rural areas due to beastmen and greenskins, primarily.

>Are there any female skaven? Do Skaven just evolve out of rats, or do they just happen like beastmen do?

Female skaven are taken at birth and fed a mix of drugs and warpstone tinctures that turn them into hulking, blind, barely-conscious "breeders." The only exception may be white females; at least one female sorceress was mentioned in passing. This would make sense, as the Horned Rat is said to have blessed all white and grey skaven.

Unlike beastmen, who are "men in the shape of beasts," skaven are "beasts in the shape of men." They are closely related to rats and maintain a lot of rat fears (open spaces, broad daylight, birds, cats, being alone, spaces not marked with skaven urine). Their creation is shrouded in mystery, but strongly implied to have been an experiment of Tzeentch's that went out of control (or DID it?). It's likely Nurgle got jealous and tried to hijack them, but failed. Modern skaven mostly disdain the "old gods" and worship their Horned Rat, who is very real.

>How smart is the average skeleton? Are they similiar in intelligence to humans, and is there a wide enough gap between those from the tomb kings and vampire counts to make a difference?

Most necromancer and vampire count skeletons are mindless, though some maintain a vestige of their life and may be seen to imitate their skills and professions in life. Tomb King skeletons are the opposite: they generally maintain their minds and are utterly, fanatically loyal to their masters beyond the necromantic forces binding them.

> Why do things like Zombies, Orks, Skaven Slaves and marauders stay in perfect block formations? It seems weird that these usually dumb/mindless hordes can march coherently.
That's why Multibasing and interesting unit fillers work with O&G and Skaven. Zombies you can argue that it's easier to necromantically control them to march in formation
>Are there any female skaven? Do Skaven just evolve out of rats, or do they just happen like beastmen do?
Yes, for the most part they're literal bloated breeding factories the size of your average texan woman, but non baby factory versions are said to exist.
>How smart is the average skeleton? Are they similiar in intelligence to humans, and is there a wide enough gap between those from the tomb kings and vampire counts to make a difference?

>Exactly how does the empire function? It seems like the country side is filled with peasants while the city has actual people.

That's more or less the case. Feudalism is dying, but the dangerous nature of the Old World means that it's much harder for people to leave their villages, and so that system has been slower in vanishing, with the rights of the common folk taking correspondingly longer to develop. Still, Imperial citizens are free, not serfs: they may leave their lord's land and even establish communities in unclaimed territory. One incidence of this is detailed in WFRP 2e's core book.

>How does Chaos work with undeath?

It's complicated. Chaos can raise people from the grave, and proximity to the north and/or warpstone can also cause the dead to spotaneously rise, but the art of necromancy is despised by Chaos, since its true masters are antithetical to Chaos and cannot easily be tempted by it.

>Whats your favorite piece of lore?

Ironically, the bit from the End Times where the skaven go nuts and crash the moon.
>>
>>48009667
>Why do things like Zombies, Orks, Skaven Slaves and marauders stay in perfect block formations? It seems weird that these usually dumb/mindless hordes can march coherently.

Its a wargame, technically they're just kind of a mob as you can see in any riot confrontation there becomes a clear line when something attacks another group in formation. The Leadership score more represents their general organization, as things that require discipline movement tend to take a Leadership test.
>What is life like for the average citizen of the Empire?
Like the Victorian working class, with less machinery.

>Are there any female skaven? Do Skaven just evolve out of rats, or do they just happen like beastmen do?
Skaven origins are unclear, but its implied they are mutated humans. Skaven females are only described once, as giant mutated bus sized rats covered in nipples that are in a constant state of labor. In one book, a Skaven is rewarded for a good job by being allowed to mate with one. Since Skaven tend towards mad science and mutating themselves, people have argued about if that's natural and if that's the fate of all females or only a few.

>How smart is the average skeleton? Are they similiar in intelligence to humans, and is there a wide enough gap between those from the tomb kings and vampire counts to make a difference?
Standard skeletons are robots animated by magic and willpower. Wights are Skeletons with their ghost in posession of their bodies, and come in varying states of intelligence. Tomb King skeletons are mostly soulless but still have memories of life to do things correctly and are animated by the will of the priests and nobility who are 100% human minded still (and pissed off about being skeletons), but some lore has contradicted this in the past.
>>
>>48009874
>Exactly how does the empire function? It seems like the country side is filled with peasants while the city has actual people.

Like the real life Holy Roman Empire AKA medieval Germany. History yourself up in this case.
>How does Chaos work with undeath?
The primordial (like a fetus or a baby) Tzeentch was all magic. He shattered when the other Chaos Gods were born, causing magic to disperse. Undeath magic is Necromancy, which is a modified version of one of the eight primary types of magic, Death AKA Amethyst magic.

Three elf women are sitting in a cafe on Ulthuan on a sunny summer day; a druchii defector and her two "rehabilitation specialists," doing what bored, single women are wont to do: ogling men.

"Look at him there! That hair, mm, and that ass!" says the first high elf.

"He's supposed to be rich, too, he comes from a good family," adds the other high elf.

"The things I'd do to him," purrs the first high elf.

End Times: Thanquol.

One Skaven clan tries to pull the Chaos moon closer to rain down Warpstone, another doesn't want to be outdone and they cause it to crash into Lustria, where they were. The Slann guve up fughting the Skaven to blow up the moon, which the Skaven use to slit their throats and eat them while the Slann are casting the spells to save the world. Warpstone rains over the world fucking everything up.

Slann look around and go "fuck this, we're out" and turn one of their Aztec pyramids into a spaceship and leave forever. Without Lizardmen to kill, the Skaven decide to do the same and teleport their giant underground world into another dimension like a hollow asteroid, surviving the end of all things. In Age of Sigmar their god becomes a full on Chaos Gods in the Great Game so they teleport their asteroid into the Warp, carve out a Chaos realm of rats, and tunnel through the Warp so much it sinks into reality making Skaven holes connect to literally everything everywhere.

High Elves are kinky as hell, just not into S&M. Other than maybe the Nagerythe when they aren't being The Punisher.
Avelorn is a giant orgy every night and a nudust colony half the time, like Greece. Cothique Elves are liberal as fuck explorer sailors, meaning they probably get it on like Spanish colonists, and Lothern (Eataine) is the only place that humans, Dwarfs, and Ogres are allowed to live on Ulthuan so they probably get it on with the other races too.

Because Drachenfels was already powerful when the first warpgates opened.
>>

Ushankas didn't exist until the late 1800's. Warhammer is more between 1200 and 1800 depending on race.

Kislev is between 1600's and 1700's.

>>
>>48011501
He was powerful in other magics.
>>
>>48011501
Drachenfels is an odd case, caught awkwardly between Oldhammer and Nuhammer.

At any rate, Drachenfels was never a master of undeath. More like he somehow through force of will survived as a living shadow that wraps itself in flesh and feeds on life force. He never displays or brags about any feats of Necromancy out of the norm.

By contrast, his mastery of Daemons backs up the preceding suggestion by saying he's just so damn iron-willed he can force the Warp to obey him.
>>
>>48011567
Probably because they can use wood and stuff instead of gross biostuff or metal. It just looks like steampunk for Skaven, honestly. I know it's not really that, but you get my point.
>>
>>48011501
Tomb Kings and Nagash happened much later, not long after the War of the Beard.

Nagash himself rose after the Sundering, which was two generations of Elves after the Warp Gates.

BUT-Be'lakor and Drachenfels contradict each other in origin story. Be'lakor says he created the concept of religion and began Chaos worship, but those things both already existed for Drachenfels.

So...who knows? When lore contradicts itself, and we aren't AoS faggots, all we can do is agree to disagree on two possible interpretations.

Yeah. Skaven tech is best when its bizarre or supplementary, like Doomwheels or the firing mechanism to the catapults.

The Dryad just looks like a Dryad ghost took control of the body of a dead Treekin.
>>
>>48011690
I think so too, but I wouldn't force that on anyone else either. Everyone tends to prefer their own faction fluff after all, and only spergs like Carnac and his Archaon megaboner try to make everyone be part of their mindset.

So long as we all understand the different versions well enough, we can decide for ourselves what works. I myself am waiting eagerly for more 9th lore to use.

Have you tried proposing them to have an introductory match using your own army divided into equal forces?

You could also try something less imposing than getting into a full army and try an escalation league that uses arenas of death, mordheim-esque and multiplayer scenarios to get them interested into the mechanics and perhaps fluff too if you are willing to make some lines of background for posterity bragging rights.

In the end, though, if they don't want to spend time on a hobby like this you shouldn't push them, you could end up with lazy players, people who drop out of the blue or even blaming you for making them spend shit on things that they don't have an attention span big enough to have fun with.

If they are into any kind of roleplay you should have little problem with the escalation campaign though.
don't press the hand when taking their first game, focus less on winning and more on having a full game going one, with all its possible likely and unlikely endgame situations

If you accept the Warhammer Fantasy RPG setting as canon? Yes to both. In the very least there were Mortuary Cult Priests - before the rise of Nagash - who knew both Eltharin and (an archaic form of) Khazalid, as well as cases of Dwarves being mummified to serve for all time within Nehekharan tombs. Oh, and that some Tomb Kings wore Gromril armor, inferring tribute (as no artificers in Nehekhara could replicate Gromril themselves, nor is there any indication or reference to Nehekharans capturing and forcing Dwarf artisans to craft such works under duress).

There's much less support and evidence of Elf-Human interaction, besides aforementioned knowledge of language, so in theory it's possible they simply studied enough Elvish ruins / abandoned keeps (with Dwarvish allies providing the remaining translation aid). But in practice if the Mortuary Cult was learning Eltharin they probably had some sort of interaction. Most probably minor stuff with Elvish traders / adventurers, considering the absence of Elvish records involving Nehekhara, or part of some sort of agreement with the Druchii before they went full pants-on-head evil retards.
>>
>>48011998
My only concern with a introductory game, is that my forces are relatively small. About 70 skeletons, a few vampire lords/Wight kings, 10 black knights, 15 grave guard and 5 Hex wraiths. Is that really enough to make a battle between two forces? Otherwise, I can understand playing around and aiming more on fun than winning. I didn't know about Arena of death though, whats that like?

Mordeheim could be the perfect thing though, since it would give them a good look at how the game actually works. Do you have the PDF for either game or a guide to the escalation campaign? But, besides game mechanics, do you have any sort of introduction to the lore?

You could do a 1k Skirmish. There's special skirmish rules for Fantasy, I'd post them but they're on my iPhone and I have no clue how to post pdfs using one. Someone else might have it.

Mordheim might be a much better idea. It should be in the pastebin.

For the lore intro, check the OP. Its a link to the 8e hardcover book, which has a robust 20-ish page lore summary of everyone and the timeline.

I'd never suggest trying to rope someone into buying full-WHFB armies: These days that can cost them well over $500 with some army lists / lines. Add in the time sink to build and paint it, it's a whole lot of somethings for a (relatively) little bit of return.

However, if you want to get them interested in the model / miniature aspect overall, I'd start with something like Mordheim: It's very cheap to get into (rarely needing more than a dozen-or-so models, if that), covers a lot of the basics, and can even be dressed up to move into alternate projects (like if you have a PnP night, using the models or warbands within or as the premise of a campaign). If they find they like the modeling aspect, THEN you can try getting them into building small / medium / large armies viable for tabletop play.

Alternatively, instead of Mordheim, there's 6th / 7th Edition's Warbands. They require a modest bit more models than Mordheim, but they're still something that can often be completed / padded-out with under $100 worth of stuff.

Trying to get someone started on a $300+ investment is much harder than getting them started on a $20-$100 one.

9th Age is more low point friendly.

I'd say instead of aiming for everyone to have 2-3k point armies, aim for 1-2.
>>
>>48013094
1-2K points will still - for most armies - readily run you into the $200+ range at modern GW miniature prices. Alternate suppliers and / or models exist, yes, but even then the cost to get a 1-2K point army is significantly above that of a Mordheim or Warbands force.

Heck, the old Empire Battalion boxes (which went for $75 / $90 in their heydays) could easily net one group 2-3 Mordheim Warbands with models to spare.
>>
>>48012867
>About 70 skeletons, a few vampire lords/Wight kings, 10 black knights, 15 grave guard and 5 Hex wraiths.

It's enough, divide the skeletons into 2 blocks of 20 and 15 for each player so you can teach them the importance of having priorities regarding which units should receive charges and which should flank, give each part half the knights, one half will get the hexwraiths the other will get the tomb guards (I don't remember the cost of the guards and the hexwraiths, in case remove some guards), let them choose if they want a melee hero or a weak wizard.

An escalation league is a sort of campaign where players build their forces during decided intervals and then play with them, for example it could start with choosing a hero and playing an arena of death (which is simply playing duels on a small battlefield, with rules for beginning far enough to give ranged or magical characters a chance or doing 2vs2 tag duels or simple everyone vs everyone using the rules of triumph and treachery in the op for managing the multiplayer turns), second week (or after 3 weeks or a month) people will have to have built a troop and you can start to have small skirmishes (multiplayers allow to have these battles feel more complete) from there they could add more troops or a cavalry until the final week where people complete their small warbands with a centerpiece or something equal.

For a fluff introduction it depends on what you want to do, by being the guy with the larger army you could set all in or around the borders of Sylvania, with an artifact or a diplomatic crisis (or an ancient evil awakening) attracting the attention of the armies, then you expose the general factions in play, what they feel about the other armies, what they want and with what means or how far they are willing to go to achieve their goals.
There should be a booklet of similar intentions uploaded in the OP about the campaign of lustria somewhere either in the supplements or in the older editions.

I agree. Morrowind-era Bethesda, yes, but modern Bethesda, no.

I'd like a faithful adaptation of WFRP system, maybe with warband management elements like Mordheim. I think the best way to achieve that would be an isometric game with turn-based combat.
>>
>>48013759
Which is what I'm interested in.

I have little faith in anything to be good from devs, it takes a community to make a gold star game.

>>48013716
That might be a problem.
It would work maybe if you set it in Albion, and say every faction has set up shop there? Or Warhammer Australia, Khuresh I think its called.

Make a character from any race as a merc. Ally, betray, kill lots of shit and build yourself a home full of skulls and armor stands, kill lots more shit, get a waifu, kill even more shit, do a fuckton of side quests, discover lots of shit while wandering around picking flowers and shooting Chaos Spawn, then at the end Ron Perlman gives the epilogue as an Orc.

>>48014035
Alarielle became the goddess of life, full stop, in Age of Sigmar but the fucked up shit from End Times made her go crazy cat lady. So while everyone was in Sigmar's Terra in the realm of light building a utopia she slipped away and went to the realm of life where she planted seeds that contained souls from the old setting and made tree people, then cut off her hand and planted it to make a new Aliathra using Drycha's model.

Nurgle and Skaven invaded her realm to claim life as an extension of disgusting things so she let out a scream that made all of life realize war is eternal and to the bitter end.

Sigmarines and Lizardmen both aided her, but she and her daughter died in the final battle. The Sigmarines protected her body from Nurgle's resurrection like Isabella, and instead buried her in the blood of the warriors of light.

That pic is a reborn Alarielle, now a goddess of war and life rather than grief and life. She has a beetle now for some reason.

Meanwhile, since Teclis/Tyrion/Malekith have beeb giving Slaanesh the Hostel 2 treatment in a cave to puke up all the souls he ate in End Times, the Wood Elves have rejoined her. They are all part tree now like you cut a Dryad and Wood Elf into parts to mix and match.

Now the next campaign where a soft reboot is supposed to make us Fantasyfags come back will focus on cities of humans of the not-Empire who live as one with nature somehow in the realm of life.
Athel Loren cities. I don't even, but whatever.

Because its fun to run around in the first person in a simulator. I want a game to feel like being in the Fantasy universe, that's all.

That's not to say I din't think there should be a WFRP vidya, but the sandbox game should exist too.

Isnt it called regiments of Reknown? I could be wrong, but that seems to be the one your thinking of, with a more skirmish based force. I think I saw it once in a Miniwargaming vid. But ill keep a eye out for it.

>>48013069
I think mordeheim is a good way start, since there isnt a PnP night or anything like that. I'll go into further details on the players that seem the most intrested, that way I can help guide them on what to buy.

>>48013315
I actually really like the idea of things going from Heros to Warbands to armies.
Currently, the main three people who are the closest to starting are:
-A guy, likes Skaven the most, especially Skyre
-a girl, likes magic, so I turned her towards High Elfs
-Taller, spergier guy, wants either Dark Elves or a khornate warband.

What kind of buying guide would you suggest for building a mordeheim sized army?

Warhammer Skirmish was in the 6th edition rulebook. It's basically kill teams before kill teams was a thing, and uses most of the same rules as Mordheim.

My favorite part about it is that any cavalry's first wound would kill the horse, leaving the rider on foot.
>>

The mod support is more like a consolation prize. And that's even for their baby, TES. They haven't treated other franchises well - personally, I think they just use Fallout to test features they'll use in the next TES, like how Fallout 3 had Skyrim's lockpicking system.

It's a shame, the game had a great art direction but its just so dull to play.

Under Settra and his heirs, the nehekarans were powerful enough to challenge the dwarfs and the lizardmen And got much of their wealth from stealing from them. They also were sailing around the world as far as cathay to bring war to foreign nations, so they undoubtably came into conflict with the elves at the time though this isn't explicitly mentioned
>>
>>48019597
I just wonder why the elves waited for so long to go 'oh hey these humans can fight against Chaos and help us resist them, we should help them out' if the Tomb Kings were already there and pretty powerful, with their own pantheon of gods (which, confusingly, still existed even into the End Times).

It makes even less sense considering that at the same time the dwarfs were in their golden age and the elves were still a major power in the old world, you had at least 3 major human civilizations with nehekara being the strongest, then Cathay, then What ever human nation built the giant city in tilea that became skavenblight. Why they waited until the empire, which pales in comparison to ancient nehekara, to acknowledge the humans as worthy allies, makes no sense. Perhaps both races were too arrogant to acknowledge that the humans had already reached their level, and chose not to talk about it in their histories?

Come to think of it, a warhammer setting during this time period would be very interesting. None of the typical bad guy factions were as big a threat as they are today, so it would be mostly civilizations clashing with each other and the occasional barbarians hordes or whatever weird shit lives in Ind

Dwarf grudges, especially the War of the Beard, the grudge against a mountain pass because a Greenskin Shaman blew it up, and Dwarfs besieging Imperial fortifications (that the Dwarfs themselves helped build) because the inhabitants were a few copper coins short on their payment.

Also, that time when a Chaos Champion defeated a corrupt Elector Count, unintentionally became a goody two-shoe for a day, and happily fucked off with the skull of said Elector Count, leaving the rest of the town unscathed.

And lastly, that one moment when a Chaos Lord spoke the Dwarf language perfectly when he decided to taunt a Dwarf King.
>>
>>48021312
>you had at least 3 major human civilizations

That's a bit of a stretch, they were all just humans with pointy bits of metal and the occasional wizard with a bit of juice.
At their height the dorfs and knife ears ruled the world, legions of dorfs in full gromril shook the earth as they marched and entire squadrons of dragons soared through the skies.

The shit which exists now probably has no choice but to ally with the humans.
>>
>>48021312
The dwarfs traded with humans for quite a long time, it just wasn't until Sigmar that they realized that men could make some pretty good allies when they weren't being total shits. Saving the High King of an entire race is a good way to get on their side. It also helps that after this alliance was formed, humans and dwarfs went through a lot of shit together.

When Nehekhara is concerned, Alcadizzar established some trade agreements with them but the nation was killed down to the last child shortly after that. I don't know if it was their first meeting but the way it was described it sure sounds like it since the Nehekharans are amazed with the quality, even more so after the ambassador says that it's basically dwarf junk by comparison to what else they can make.

>>48024539
There's a decent amount of female representation for a medieval fantasy world. It just isn't a world where a girl who looks like a swimsuit model but she can swing a sword that a Chaos Warrior would have trouble with.

Usually if a woman shows up she's pretty important. The Everqueen, the Fey Enchantress, Morathi, Khalida.

Hell, Drutheria and Ashniel, two dark elf sorceresses, are partly responsible for two of the worst events to happen in Warhammer. The War of the Beard and the rise of Nagash.

Westwind has a range of ww1/2 heads that look alright on GW stuff, so you check if they have what you need.
