Last time we had officially finished moving and took some old world corp installations. That was when things went wrong as we attempted to communicate with an old world AI only to draw the attention of an Old World Black AI. JAL appeared getting erased by said AI only to start a massive war.

We then found ourselves besieged once we shelled the bot armies bases. Our own tactics were used against us as in desperation we had our heroes do all they can and put out a massive bounty against the AI.

Now we struggle to survive even as the war grows ever bigger...

Ginny use CopyCat and try to mimic some of the Omitar's ability to make repairs while under fire, and teach it to our own forces/bots.

Biggy keep up the bombs, we've got to keep stalling for time until reinforcements show or Jal wins.

Pilot Hero keep up the firepower with our behemoths and tank forces, and your own vehicle of course. Have the Behemoths and heavy tanks buckle down behind cover while any fast/lighter vehicles follow Pilot heros lead.

Reactors have been upgraded. Now we can push them a lot more without problem and their energy usage is more efficient helping deal with how fast they can consume power.

Fires shot upon robotic forces. In response the robotic forces got hit by some strange pulses. We aren't sure what they did and the robot numbers of increased. When they noticed our shields were holding out better the robotic forces blockading us have begun construction on something.

Ginny isn't able to find any weaknesses. She notes however that the bots being deployed are not all of Omitar origins. Somehow the AI is persuading or hijacking other robotic forces. This may result in some kind of potential weak link...

The AI is gathering allies with knowledge and using that, I assume. That or they been there from the other robot factions and just started attack us.

Fighting has been, I think, this game's hardest part for us. Our para guard is turtling while the CEO works. Wasting Warband is unlikely to send a big group to help.

I would ask Ginny to call the AI in their group to help. Just not sure if that will do anything.

Meanwhile the rest of our forces are desperately trying to blast away the grey goo. The enemy bombardment has finally slowed but much of the stuff their firing is their peculiar shells that are able to partially bypass the shields.

Meanwhile at the boardroom. A CEO is sitting there quietly even as grey goo is dripping everywhere as he turns on the Comms asking Ginny what the situation is like.

These lossess are catastrophic. Bordering explicit threats of civ death catastrophic.

What was supposed to be our first intra-thread double linked nat100 for finding KICKASS bases has turned into a disaster.

Not only have we failed to actually gain from those bases in technology and logistics, we've had our base smashed, unleashed a threat so vast it stals the entire land, and we've had to ransom off our resources to whoever actually manages to end the beast.

Although at this rate, we might as well break those open too because it doesn't look like ANYONE is going to kill Omitar Black.

The Paramiliatries, our primary force, have been defeated.
JAL can't even save us and he was our Plan B.
We don't have a plan C.

Supposing sacrificing a hero does end this, if we don't get those bases and SOME MEASURE of profit this is the worst disaster that has ever befallen us short of civ death.

To be honest, the option of "getting a couple of you guys out far away and having you lose all your shit" essentially amounts the same as playing a new civ anyway depending upon how much is lost.

I mean, at least if we got to keep most of our tech. . .

But the biggest peeve is that we didn't get ANYTHING from the super bases we found, and fallen so low.

This Civ game number one rule is survival. Roll with the punches and make it to the next event. Loosing a hero hurts real bad. Yet all we can hope to do is live and learn from it.

Eh, it's mostly that I think few people realize the ramifications of what we just lost.

This was, without a doubt, Genie's most BLESSED civ when it came to resources, heroes, and technologies in all 30+ civs. We might never in our lifetime see this sort of astounding progress again.

130k fucking pop? The next bigges tthing was like 8k or something.

We can live again, and it won't be entirely from scratch but. . .this sucks balls if we don't at least get some tech to make up for this.

We're losing our paramilitary, our resources, our bases. . .we don't even know where we'll end up.

You would indeed gain the bandit auto upgrading and other bonuses. After the transition period anyway. Which will take 12 turns.

Afterwards your population and military capacity will be upgraded. Everything else will be downgraded.

You will however gain the bandit auto upgrade ability. Meaning you will only need to spend an action to construct or research something. Once its completed your forces will automatically upgrade themselves at no additional cost.

You will however lose the ability to make more supplies and good actions will be vetoed by your forces automatically. Enjoy your 12 turns of being capable of being good guys and take advantage.

For an idea how to play bandits with Brood auxiliary forces I STRONGLY recommend reading the Brooding Bandits Civ.

At first appearances megacorp and bandit hybrid doesn't seem to be a good idea...but remember this.

Corp manufacturing with auto upgrade is NICE but you know whats even better?

Bandit Morality+corp morality works VERY well together!

As both are more likely then not morally bankrupt!(its just the megacorps like to hide it more!)

How else do you think the bandits have such a surprisingly good manufacturing and research despite their obvious penalties?

Its common knowledge so I will tell you. Its well known that bandits have very little problem doing terrible things to compensate for it. That is why despite their penalties bandits have surprisingly good tech and manufacturing.

This is further amplified by their willingness to use MAD!

By using both a lot they can forcefully and roughly make it so their stats are 'good' in that area.

We can also use JAL more freely without worry of rep penalties. That was actually a major drawback when we couldn't so this is great we get to UNLEASH HIM and of course we're going to model oursevles off the brooding bandits.

I'm going to bemoan the downgrades of manufacturing and maybe tech, but we can always improve again. and they were Godly upgraded before by Ginny anyway so maybe it evens out.

Also Genie. . .I don't think we're in the mindset of playing true Bandit Style. Raiding and pillaging isn't our style, hiring others and giving them guns is.

I hope we won't be disadvantaged if we still try to play the True lord of war. The Bandit Supplier! The Merchant of Death dealing weapons and supplies to the scum of the earth.

Unit composition relies upon infested industrial zones and spawning nests to produce troops.

Strong preference for swarm and overwhelming number tactics. For this units are very cheap and mass producible.

Exceeding dangerous not due to numbers but due to carriers of plagues and payloads. Each unit is in fact a kamikaze unit more units equal more deaths equal more payloads going off.

It got so bad that enemy bot forces were regularly routed once they succumbed to the constant plaguing payloads.

If you killed them they went off.

If you didn't kill them they tear your face off.

Only way to win was not to play so Bot forces fled from the field against JAL.

Meanwhile the payloads also had an infesting effect...

Massive amounts of ground has been infested during the fighting JAL ordered it to sink underneath and age. Unknown number of nests are thereby maturing underground just waiting to explode upward.

JAL also recovered vasts amount of carcasses which are being digested.

We don't know much else. Will require research of brood or talking with JAL or Broodmother but even they might not know the answer.

Thing about brood is that they are anything, they start off on the microbiological... Scratch that "bio" is incorrect, the microbroodological level otherwise simply known as "infestation" this often acts to change the environment to suit the needs of the future brood spawns. Now depending on "who's" brood you are dealing with it will present in diffrent ways, Jal for instance is brood tech.

Think about the David Duchovny movie "evolution" and you will sort of be on the right track.

Appearances depend entirely on the different Brood 'strains'. Strains being basically who controls it, who manipulates it, who guides its evolution.

The brood is literally an entire ecosystem down to the smallest microorganisms to the gigantic world sized brood monsters. Everything is designed with a purpose, is made to fulfill a purpose, to work together and form a working ecosystem that is devoted to a certain goal.

As for what goals that depends upon who is in control and Broods literally wage wars with each other over it.

The 'brood strains' is merely a marker that indicates who was in control during that era thereby developing a certain marker strain. As time wears on new controllers take over and adjust the strain to suit their needs thereby leaving their own markers...and so on.

This markers add up even if they are obscured. As those in control have different ideas, personalities, and objectives the Brood under them will naturally change or literally evolve to better do so.

I have shown a couple different strains and each were different in appearance from another. Truth be told is the best way to figure out something is in fact brood requires taking a look at its DNA because the appearances can vary so wildly.

However the DNA doesn't lie and is a dead giveaway for Brood organisms.

Broods will even create massive DNA vaults where they harbor ALL the unique mutations they have harvested and developed. This is to ensure they don't accidentally lose any potentially useful mutations as broods further mutate(for better or worse) and have their DNA strands purposely trimmed.

Such DNA vaults are naturally absurdly valuable to the Broods and they are eager to steal other Brood DNA vaults and add/protect their own. This makes it so different broods contain differing Vaults.

As for those in control of the Brood...well its often said they are the Broodmothers, but this is technically incorrect.

Instead let me ask you this. Why would the Brood let someone who specializes in manipulating mutation(broodmother) be in charge? Why would the Brood go through the trouble of connecting every organism and advancing enough to take part in a Hivemind?

So why not create something to take control? Something that is especially created for that explicit purpose?

Or what if someone Hijacks command of a Brood?

To that purpose the Brood created Commander organisms. They created Controller organisms to manipulate the other brood organisms simply too stupid or simply not worth advancing their intelligence.

These Commander organisms in turn took council with the other advanced organisms who were smart and had their own powerful minds. For the rest a Commander organism could hijack and take a closer look if necessary.

However if the Commander and Controller orgasms were too few wouldn't this cause problems if they were taken out? Wouldn't it be a waste for a high level Commander organism to have to command over too many small matters? Is it not better for it to focus? For to further specialize?

SO the Broods created a hierarchy.

The Broods created a council of smart specialists to advice the hierarchy in their specialties.

However the Commander organisms found this troublesome to have to constantly listen to the Council and manage their matters.

So the Brood developed sub commanders. Enough to better handle their own matters without bothering the Commanders with them constantly.

Through this increasingly complex interlinking web of Command and intelligence the brood developed!

However some things fought for control over the ENTIRE brood! Some splintered off for their own purposes! Some HIJACKED a Brood bringing it under their control and service!

So soon enough the top most command and control of a Brood soon found itself in chaos.

For the Broods have not been whole since the great War of the Broods. Where just before the previous leader of ALL Broods was slain. Ever since the Broods been divided.

So while the chain of hierarchy and council is mostly intact even as they stood divided. Its only the top most hierarchy of the Broods that is in turmoil.

It was for that reason why it appeared that killing commanders had some use against the Brood. The truth is that is only true should you kill the ones at the very top. Any other and it will barely be noticed by the Brood at large.

As the Brood no matter who you kill they can easily create more.

And if someone is particularly valuable they can simply bring back that being with memories intact given time.

For the Brood offers the truest of purposes the fulfillment of life, and immortality!

If you are brood you shall NEVER truly die! Your memories will be harvested and your genes will be harvested. Both will be stored forevermore and in glorious service to the BROOD!

Alas if your at the top and you die...that temporary void will more often then not prove quite fatal.

In truth the worse possible place you can be in the Brood is at the very top!

However in exchange only then will you be granted free will!

And free will is so very tempting...but comes with the greatest of dangers among the Broods.

Such is the glorious power of the Brood!

What JAL provides is some peculiar hard substances and a thick paste like fluid which JAL claims will suit our purposes. Its of alien matter and our machines have a hard time processing it, but it produces an astounding amount of biofuel for the weight of it. Too bad its rather harsh on our machinery. JAL wasn't kidding about the hard to process probably has something to do with as JAL claims a fail safe the brood put in to keep their own mass from being used against themselves.

Doesn't stop them from being lit on fire though so usefulness of it seems limited.

A Brood Queen forms when there is more then 1 Brood and is a special evolution for broodmothers. Its rather difficult to trigger.

A Brood Queen has even greater capabilities of a Broodmother and is much more powerful. Its said the original leader of the Broods was an especially powerful Brood Queen who somehow managed to further evolve herself.

You don't have to research them right now, we're looking for a To-Do list of ways we can do the things they did. JAL you look over their bot forces and tactics too.

Off the top of my head they this Pulse Technology, Instant New Base/Facility construction that far suprassed our own, HUGE artillery, "strange shots", drop pods, and "Artillery Rain".

Maybe you can help us get some names for these techs and the others. We'll have a to-do list we can start working on.

Our morale is low for many reasons beyond just the fuel, but primarily we're trying to milk out our corps ability to its full extent before we go bandit.

Jazri has unleashed the new...lifeforms that she claims are 'safe for consumption'. They are weird looking pulsating growths. Taste damn good though and their blood is like water but more nutritious as well as thick almost syrupy.
