What threats might linger in a derelict mindflayer fortress? Specifically, in the 'performance eating' hall.
>>47898798
A bunch of humans who only had half their brains eaten. They're too insane to know the PCs aren't illithids and will attack if they get too close. They've been surviving off of remaining slave gruel and each other.

One of these slaves is found scrubbing the stone slab where the "meals" were taken. He's long since worn the bristles of his brush away to nothing and scrubbed grooves into the stone where the stains once were.

Psionic cutlery
Psionic chairs
Psionic music apparatus
Psionic lighting
Psionic food

>Psionic cutlery
Pic related

You misunderstand. I mean cutlery that is manipulated by psychic forces, in a similar way that a knife is manipulated by physical forces.
Cult of madmen who mistakenly worship Illsensine, desperately seek to become 'higher beings', don't really know they need implanted tadpoles, instead eat the brains of people who wander in a misguided attempt to ascend.

>What threats might linger in a derelict mindflayer fortress?
My magical Realm. Enter at your own peril.
Mad Mindflayer who ate all the other Mindflayers in there
>>47898798
Specters and wraiths. Also possessed mindflayer corpses. Undead fuck squidheads up one wall and down the next. Immune to mind effecting powers, and mindflayers only see heat, so things without body heat are functionally invisable.

What were those baby illithid things that didn't get properly implanted? Neothilids? Those things
EVERYWHERE
>>47901253
There are also larval flayers. Maybe plant a few of those somewhere.
There's even a psionic power that summons those things. Maybe stick a Dorje of Larval Flayers into a treasure cache somewhere.
>>47901071
Specters and wraiths that are unablet to feed. That one must create thrall ghosts for them to feast upon.
>>47898798
What remains of one Illithid scientist's mad attempts to 'get creative' when it comes to implanting Illithipoles into other being- two in one head, putting them into undead (the 'living' kind like vampires and wights), implanting them into larval flayers, etc, etc.
>>47903705
Illithipoles implanted in an ettin!
>>47903745
Ah yes, I knew there was a humanoid with multiple heads, but couldn't remember what it was. Also implanting them into a hydra to see if after it full takes hold it will regenerate new illithidized heads, or just regular hydra heads, or just dies outright.
Also illithidizing lycanthropes of various kinds.
Semi-related questions: are illthids always sterile officially, or do are they just disgusted by genital-based reproduction?
>>47903824
Illithids are varied enough that at least one creed would try it.
>Creatives
If there's a possibility of genital-based reproduction yielding some new discovery, they would at least attempt it.
>Awaiters
Long term breeding projects seem like they would be a part of the Awaiter's schemes.
>Possessors
Maybe if there was a profit in it...
>Tamers
They might pursue genital-based reproduction if there was some military advantage to it.
>Thorough Biters
They believe new concepts can be learned only through failure. Even if genital-based reproduction doesn't work, that itself may yield some new insight.
>Nourishers
They are all about the thrall breeding.
>The Abysmal
If anyone is repulsed by the idea of mindflayers fucking, then the Abysmal will fuck like mad day and night just to feed their terror.
...to be continued...

Ilithid lose external genitals. They become internally hermaphrodites and breed by laying eggs in the pool around the elder brain, and then squat to put sperm on it. So if your magical realm is mindflayers fucking things, you are out of luck. At most, other male creatures could fuck the mindflayer's egg/sperm hole.
