So maybe? That would be two feats for basically a spell-storing weapon, so that's what you should balance it by. If that's too good then don't allow it. If it's fine, allow it.

Hey /pfg/, I've got a question. Let's say you have a Sensei Monk. At level 12 he can use Abundant Step to teleport everyone within 30 feet to a location of his choosing. Is there a point to taking Dimensional Agility, since the allies he teleports will be able to act on their own turns normally?

Critique this please, /pfg/

Weapon Focus (Combat Proficiency)

Choose one weapon group. You can also choose grapple (or ray, if you are a spellcaster) as your weapon for the purposes of this proficiency.

Prerequisites: Base attack bonus +1.

Benefit: You gain a +1 bonus on all attack rolls to your selected weapon group.
Upon reaching 3rd level and every two levels thereafter (5th, 7th, and so on), you gain an increased +1 bonus on all attack rolls you make using the selected weapon from an associated weapon group.

Special: Martial classes begin play with this Proficiency. This proficiency stacks with Weapon Training. A full caster must purchase this as a feat to gain this proficiency.

That's way too strong. It's up to an extra +10 to attacks for a single feat and it scales with level instead of BAB so a Wizard would have no reason not to take it and be just as combat competent as a normal Martial is now.

Make it scale with BAB and reduce it to every 4 BAB (so BAB 1, 5, 9, 13, 17). It's not bad as a buff to Fighters though since they could potentially get a free +5 (or +10) to every weapon they wield with it.

Guys, I'm trying to trim feat trees a bit, so far I thought about making all finessable weapons having innate dex-to-attack and Weapon Finesse giving it to all weapons, Combat Expertise is not a feat anymore, everyone can use it, all Combat Maneuvers are improved by one feat line. Anything else i should add?
>>
>>47835865
More reasonable. Now you have to specify what "martial classes" entails. Classes with 0 casting? Classes with full BAB?
>>
>>47835670
It's probably not worth taking for that reason since, like you said, their actions will be unaffected. On the other hand if you go up to Dimensional Dervish you could start teleporting your allies around instead of yourself during a full attack.

How fare your respective campaigns?

The tale of the faerie foxboy, foxgirl, and catgirl in Kingmaker ( https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/47719513/#47724010 ) has, alas, come to a close due to a Skype exchange lasting nine messages.

In our Kingmaker session last week, our party of three 1st-level PCs had rushed straight towards the Stag Lord's fort, infiltrated it flawlessly, and knocked out and restrained every last bandit within the fort.

We were supposed to play this week, but the GM had arrived only during the tail end of the appointed time slot. The GM explained that they were busy with another game, they had completely forgotten about the Kingmaker game, they could not run the game today, and that they could linger to answer questions.

I brought up the topic of XP from the Stag Lord's fort, since that was something we neglected to discuss previously. The GM mentioned that we received full XP for each of the bandits we knocked out in their sleep, but only 1,455 XP for the Stag Lord himself (a CR 6 worth 2,400 XP).

Over the course of nine Skype messages, I protested this and asked why the GM would assign such an arbitrary XP reward for overcoming a major opponent, and the GM would reply with a cryptic "ad hoc adjustment" without further comment. The exchange ended with the GM outright ragequitting and ending the game right then and there.

We had no indicator that the GM was on the brink of quitting outright, let alone that questioning XP rewards would be their last straw. This GM, by the way, was adamant on using XP rewards rather than milestone-based leveling. This incident will forevermore be mysterious to the players who were abandoned.

>>47835886
Thanks brah

Martial classes should ideally include all full BAB types as well as partial casters, their benefit from this proficiency will be diminished slightly

So a magus gains a +3 bonus rather than the full +9 gained by a fighter

Hopefully the session will go without a hitch and we can finally wrap up this story arc. It was left off on a cliffhanger with the last boss fight of the chapter because my internet took a shit, and my fingers are crossed that we can wrap up that fight in the next 1-3 rounds. I've got two campaigns; one I'm playing in and one I'm running. The first has been on-going for about 4-5 years and we're almost done with it. Coincidentally, it's also Kingmaker. Our DM has gotten really frustrated with how poorly-written the last book in the AP is, and we've got one player who will have to move out-of-state next month so we're in a hurry to try and finish the campaign before he leaves, but I think we're also excited to be so close to completing this long adventure.

The second campaign one I'm running, like I said, and it's pretty new. Only one session in so far, discounting Session 0. It's for a different group than the one I'm playing the first campaign with, and is an online game instead of a meat space one. It's too early to really say how things are going, but I'm both nervous and excited to see how things will play out.

Four towers, all based on elements, (fire, water, acid, air)

Towers must be deactivated, smashed, other otherwise neutralized.

As the PCs deactivate them, the others become empowered.

Towers summon enemies and cast spells themed to their element.

Summoned enemies get stronger and spells become more powerful, according to which towers are done last.

Example: Fire tower starts the fight summoning small fire elementals, and casting produce flame, if done last, it might be casting empowered fireballs and summoning large fire elementals.

All towers are proving a shield to BBEG, shield gets weaker as more towers are removed.

Oh no no no, friend. They don't hate martials. They hate old martials in older books.

They want you to buy the Unchained book. By taking away the DR heavy IR build that actually made low AC Barbs work, they just made it so now you have to be Unchained Barbarian if you want the best DR. There's a post on the Paizo thread that goes into detail:

Level: IR / UB
Level 1: 0 / 0
Level 2: 1 / 0
Level 3: 1 / 0
Level 4: 2 / 0
Level 5: 2 / 0
Level 6: 3 / 0
Level 7: 3 / 1
Level 8: 4 / 7
Level 9: 4 / 7
Level 10: 5 / 8
Level 11: 5 / 8
Level 12: 6 / 8
Level 13: 6 / 9
Level 14: 7 / 9
Level 15: 7 / 9
Level 16: 8 / 10
Level 17: 8 / 10
Level 18: 9 / 10
Level 19: 9 / 11
Level 20: 10 / 11

Unchained is now better at DR for a majority of levels than the archetype literally designed to have the most DR. And better yet, you don't even lose uncanny dodge and such -- just some rage powers which are in ample supply for medium level barbarians.

It's the same reason they just now nerfed courageous weapons despite being apparently fine with them for years before. Courageous was a bit of system mastery/exploit that worked with original Barbarians and how their bonuses interacted. Unchained comes out and they re-examine stuff like that and take it away.

Same reason they started coming down hard on Dex to Damage options after Unchained came out -- now Unchained Rogue is your most efficient/versatile dex build.
>>
>>47838046
How do you get that much DR? Rage powers?
>>
>>47838084
Yes, taking the Improved Rage power. Pazio's shit and all, but it doesn't really make much sense as an argument in favor of the UB.
>>
>>47838046
See, the thing is, unchained rogue being the most efficient/versatile Dex build is A-okay in theory, and they have good reasons for not wanting to just make Dex be an even bigger god stat. But they've nerfed all the other options so hard, yet never made rogue even unchained worth playing over anything else. Any other class with Fencing Grace is usually still better off than a rogue overall, even if fencing grace is even shittier than it was before. At best UCRogue is a 3-level dip for martials, or a passive class for gestalts, and even then you might be better off picking another class that offers more overall. Like the Vigilante.

What the fuck is TTGL anyway? I've never watched the show but I know plenty about it because everywhere I go I see chucklefucks wearing the glasses and going all CHURNING INNER SPIRIT or some bullshit.
>>
>>47838311
I showed my boyfriend the Vigilante, and the first thing he did was put together a mix of Batman and Zorro. Stalker specialization, the Fast Getaway rogue Talent, Decoy Ring, Twisting Fear, and Whip of Vengeance. Skill unlock for intimidate is also recommended, though not necessary.

The result is that you have a guy that hits someone from about ten feet away and then vanishes, leaving behind an team of illusory duplicates, so that he can do it again and again, and every time he hits someone he appears again, and Twisting Fear does his Hidden Strike damage as nonlethal, so he can constantly pop in around the battlefield causing people to panic and eventually pass out from fear.
>>
>>47838397
It takes the whole "shonen fighting spirit" trope and exaggerates it into infinite power, basically. The more you believe you can win the more powerful you are, and the final boss is basically "But if you get too strong bad things happen!"

This entire thing manifests as giant robot fights.

It's literally the go-to response to everyone asking about build ideas in this fucking general, you silly billy goat.

Someone wants to play a swordsman? Make an Aegis. Bowmaster? Go Cleric! A sneaky freaky backstabbing boy wonder? Well sorry anon, but you're going to be playing a wizard.

It's *exhausting* talking to you guys about classes and constantly trying to wriggle you back into the fact that no, I *don't* want a spell-list.
>>
>>47838429

That whole premise was already done by other shows decades ago. GaoGsiGar, Getter Robo, etc.

TTGL is supposed to be a homage to all of those shows the Gainax dudes grew up with but newfags with no experience in the mechanics genre of course can't see this.
>>
Hello /pfg/, I'm relatively new to pathfinder. I'm currently in my third campaign ever so I have a limited amount of knowledge.
So, I've decided to play a MachineSmith from the compatible Neoexodus books and I was a bit confused on crafting constructs when it comes to the class. A vast majority of the class special abilities encourage crafting skills and in particular, crafting constructs. Even giving you for free Craft Construct at 15th level. However, the class doesn't provide you with most of the spells in the prototypes list that are required to build constructs. The key one being Geas/Quest. Is there any work around to that other than just getting someone else in the party to substitute those spells? I'd prefer to create constructs by myself for the party instead of having to rely on them everytime I need to create a construction.
>>
>>47838471

>mecha genre

Also, most of TTGL was actually robots, only the finale featured spiritual manifestations on another dimension fighting on a cosmic scale.

>>
>>47838484
Except for the crafting feat, you can ignore prerequisites for magic item creation by increasing the DC by 5. Doesn't apply to spell completion and spell trigger items.
>>
>>47838457
>I *don't* want a spell-list.
Then stop playing 3.5. Having a spell list is like a basic, fundamental part of being competent. Having a spell list is the first step to actually having options and being able to work against the way the mechanics are built, against monsters in battle, against skill challenges, and against unorthodox situations.

When people wanted to make martial fighters that competed with the game, they gave the martial classes a spell list they could choose. When they wanted to make the Rogue better, they gave a list of options that you could choose ahead of time, talents that gave you permanent special abilities that'd make a list you can use. When they added powers to the Barbarian, they added Rage Powers that give them a nice, comprehensive list of times that they could do something cool. Again and again, first-party and third-, Pathfinder is about the spell list.

Hey guys, I'm currently making some homebrew Initiating Archetypes for ACG classes and am currently working on Bloodrager.

I'd like to pick your collective brains for ideas for abilities, themes, and references.

So far all I have is replacing Bloodrage bonuses with a Vitae pool that charges based off of time spent raging, performing bloodline spells by expending Vitae and a manuever, Bloodline-tied disciplines, and sprinkled referenced to Bloodborne and Wheel of Time

>>47838618
poorly balanced 3.5 legacy, with a few good things. A very good GM, a willing party, and perhaps a pinch of 3pp can make it great fun though

Yes. A large longsword counts as a two-handed weapon for medium characters and you can't wield it in one hand at all unless you have a class feature or other ability that lets you use oversized weapons.

So lots of questions came up in my last session, some of which I'll ask later, but my current one is this;

I've got a player who wants to try a Vigilante, because he's not having fun with his Occultist.

The problem is, he can't really do the normal Vigilante thing (the iconic Red Raven dude), because...there's already a character like that in the campaign. We all agree that with Blackjack running around the city, we don't want to put a second costumed hero on the streets.

So what other options are there for this class? I'm just cracking open the book now, but I'm hoping you guys can help me understand what I'm working with here.
>>
>>47838751
He could play a Mahou Shoujo
>>
>>47838779

>>
>>47838751
You don't have to be a costumed superhero. It isn't a requirement, it's just pushed by the fluff because paizo is retarded. Just tweak the dual identity so that it is literally just "you have two seperate identities that are both functionally identical, save that people think they're two different people" instead of "this is your average joe identity, and this is your superhero identity, and people think they're two different people".

Basically, make it a ghetto shapeshifting.

In CoCT? About 2/3 of the way through Book 2. If you're referring to the events of Book 3, I obviously already know about them, and would normally just push him in that direction except There's another PC in the party, a Swashbuckler, who already made his own Blackjack costume and will most likely dive on the opportunity to take his place when they find out he's disappeared in Book 3. I don't want 2 players fighting over the same role.

This.
I've found two 5e DMs in my town.
one has played /one/ 5e campaign, as a player, and immediately decided she would make her own deal where it's entirely based off of fairy tail, ignoring/plugging rules whereever she wants, and renaming basically 90% of the stuff in game to fit fairy tail.

The other ignores rules and comes up with as much bullshit as he wants, like enemies having "bloodied" instant attacks, attacks on death, monsters being able to attack of opportunity when someone -enters- their threat range, constantly argues with the rogue about how disengage works after it's been pointed out like 8 times, lets certain players use their multi-attack to cast spells and still have 1-2 more attacks because "it's an attack, right? so they should be able to replace it with spells" despite the fact that it nullifies the entire Eldritch Knight class...
it's a fucking mess.

5e would be great, if it weren't for the awful, awful GMs.
