My friend played a character like this. Lecherous little common born bastard who claimed he was nobility and added titles to his name where he went. "Slayer of the minotaur" he coup DE graced it. "Dragons bane" he killed a dragonling once. Threw a "Sir" in his name. Was oblivious to a common saying and legitimately beloved he was the offspring of a goddess after a comment a dragon made to him.
Little fucker had high con score. Wore mithril armor that didn't fit because it was mithril. And every feat he took was toughness, his battle stratagy was that if he could take a beating for long enough, he could whittle anyone down in a fight eventually.

Not because I have anything against that specific character trait, it's just that if you're running a game that involves a party, somebody else might pick elf or half-elf. And so what would happen when an elf party member told him that he was an elf, or if this fact became apparent by other means? This character's backstory makes other character's mere choice of race a burden on having the party not dissolve into infighting, which is a fucking chore.
You know what's also a chore, though, and my biggest actual beef with "racist-against-elves" characters? The player is NEVER clever enough to do it humorously and consistently. They will run out of funny slurs for elf, and quickly, it's only a question of when. Usually by session three or so is when they start reusing shit, and by session five at least is when everybody at the table (hopefully including them) is bored to death with this fucking stupid overplayed gimmick.
