3d3 Solar Exaltations appear in your setting and begin searching for worthy souls to attach to.

Is everything going to be ok?

Fun fun

they even have authentic out of nowhere maximum edge moments! they'll fit right in.

Rolled 3, 3, 3 = 9 (3d3)

So this many of something show up? I don't know what a Solar Exaltation is but they sound awful
>>
>>47801787
But anon, the Silmarillion already has a Feanor. I know Solars tend to fuck things up, but they're frankly outclassed here.
>>
>>47802978
Amen to that

Rolled 3, 3, 3 = 9 (3d3)

>>47801787
Depends on how many.
>>
>>47802020
>>47803917
9 it is. Now what are the names of these 9 and what do they specialize in?

3e Solar Exalted are weaker than 3.5 archivists, artificers, clerics, druids, and wizards, true fact.
>>
>>47804152

3e sucks.

That's not why, kind, the powerlevels needed some nerfing, but it does.
>>
>>47801787
It might not be okay, but it will be excellent.
>>
How many bureaucracy focused Eclipses and presence/social focused Zeniths does it take to revamp the IoM?
>>
>>47806221
I reckon 3 could get it largely sorted in the lifetime of a Solar, if they don'tget killed for Heresy first/
>>
>>47802020

it's a little fleck of divine juju created by the god of the sun and perfection to empower mortals with, so that they could be used as weapons in a rebellion against the titans. The gods were sworn to absolute obedience, but mortals weren't bound in that way so they couldn't simply be ordered to stand down or what have you.

It worked pretty well, but later things got out of hand.
>>
>>47806115
It's honestly good though. In play, it's definitely one of the better systems out there.
>>
>>47802020
It basiclly makes you a supernaturally empowered badass, peerless save for the most ancient and powerful of beings in your area of expertise and still better than humanly possible in a bunch of other ones.

For example, a high level Solar focused on swording could kill pretty much anything that is physically capable of death by sword and probably a couple of things that aren't, a similarly powerful Sorcerer can change the very metaphysics of the universe with relative ease and the equivalent diplomancer could convert the entire Nazi party to Judaism in like an hour.
>>
Yes. Since the only reason we would know of this are to :
1. Stop them from attaching
2. Are the group of souls they attached to.
3. Have an annoying DMPC that's the chosen one whose soul half of them attached to.
4. Are agents of the Titans sent to destroy them.
5. Try to distill the power from all 9 into a super laser that will kill the Titans in one blast.
>>
>>47806319
MMOs ruin everything.
>>
>>47806520
>and probably a couple of things that aren't

They were built specifically to kill what could not die, and one of them did it by strangling to death what did not need to breathe.

>>47804152

What da fug kind of bait is this.
>>
>>47806520
Also another thing they can do that I didn't mention because it isn't so much a description of their powerlevel as a cool mechanical thing they can do, a properly specialised though not necessarily high leveled Solar can write someone a letter that appears as innocous as a shopping list or recipe for beef stew but to the intended reciepient reads as an epitath of such profound sorrow that they die. They literally die of sadness, their soul just goes "Fuck this shit" and passes on.
>>
>>47806603
Well I didn't want to overstate their power and we don't know if that particular piece of fluff about strangling a Primordial is sticking around in 3e so I kept it to a couple
>>
>>47806718
I'm pretty sure robots don't have souls, and anyone who did is dead now.

>captcha is 1010
>>
>>47806603
Depends a hella lot on level, I wouldn't really say it's bait. Exalted makes a big deal out of starting at a higher power level than D&D (and I mean a really big deal, it's the PAY ATTENTION TO MEEEE, LOOK YOUR STARTING CHARACTER CAN BE A GODSLAYER of RPG systems), but I daresay 3.5 ramps up hella faster with character progression.
>>
>>47806774
Robots have souls in Exalted, they're called Alchemicals
>>
>>47806800
OK, but what about Engine Heart
>>
>>47806585

Pretty sure there isn't an mmo of it.
>>
>>47801787
No. No, it very much is not going to be OK. My current setting is something like "after the Exalted all finished killing each other" and the mortals were getting a chance to rebuild without having their souls dragged off by mad godkings.

no souls, only soul.
>>
>>47806798
Keep in mind that in D&D, a 20th level fighter is /supposed/ to be equivalent to a 20th level cleric.

I could totally see a dude cheesing 3.5's mechanics ala Pun-Pun to create something invincible
>>
>>47806798
>>47806882

It's not really even cheese as such; D&D wizards do things that Exalts would rip their own balls off to be capable of, like bringing back the dead and monkeying with time.

In a stand-up fight the Exalt will win every time barring actual cheese, but the D&D casters have much weaker genre limitations on what they can do.
>>
>>47806828
I think he's refering to the WoD mmo that tanked White Wolf, doesn't really have shit to do with Exalted but eh.

>>47806798
I wont say I know 3.5 but how hard could it possibly ramp up? I mean it's not even a very high level power for a Solar to soak literal plot-device levels of damage and thats in the new edition, which explicitly makes them weaker than in previous editions. Also you know >>47806520
>>
>>47806221
Seeing as Solars kinda are on the superhuman skill scale from "space marine" to "Emperor" themselves, I think it's more a question of how *experienced* a Solar it takes, rather than how many. One with a few thousand experience and Essence 7+ seems like it might be getting there - anything smaller is, IMO, going to be stymied by the scale issues and have to fly around revamping a couple planets a day.
>>
>>47806921
And teleporting. Can't forget teleporting.
>>
>>47806869
[doots repetitively]
>>
>>47801787
I'm doing bronze age GURPS at 125 points, with path magic. It's pretty much the end of the world as we know it, and I don't think anyone feels fine.
>>
>>47806949
>I wont say I know 3.5 but how hard could it possibly ramp up?

At its worst, 3.5 scales pretty much arbitrarily with player knowledge and amount of dumpster-diving-for-splatbooks you are allowed to do. Imagine a gameline for which there are twenty Scrolls of the Monk.

The absolute worst 3.5 abusive cheesebuild I know of attains arbitrarily powerful godhood at level 5 through an infinite loop.

The builds that merely go for ridiculously high stats and immunity splattered everywhere instead end up being stuff like extraplanar dematerialized balls of stone-light existing inside shaped selective self-excluding null-magic-fields, immune to every mundane weapon damage type, basic energy damage types, negative energy, positive energy, and mind-affecting effects.
>>
>>47806999
Here's a question. How powerful does a Solar have to be to overpower the Emperor in his prime?
>>
>>47807081
I'd say it still dies to Zeal, but we're already well past the point of kids going "I have an invisible, invincible forefield"
>>
>>47807081
>>47807161

So here's roughly how I imagine a fight going between a combat-focused Elder Solar and a twinked-out D&D 3.5 Epic-level character, assuming for whatever reason that they actually *get* into a fight rather than using one of the dozen powers they could probably both have for seeing each other coming a month ahead.

Elder stabs Epic for a billion sword damage, Epic goes "lol immune to swords".
Epic casts Dominate Monster, Elder goes "lol immune to hostile social influence".
Elder catches the light on Glorious Solar Saber and tries laserswording Epic for a billion laser damager, Epic goes "lol immune to light damage".
Epic casts Maximized Time Stop, getting to act another 5 times in a row.
Depending on the game master, Elder possibly goes "that counts as shaping, lol immune".
Epic casts Bring Down The Sky, dropping a meteor or five on Elder's head, Elder goes "lol parried".

You get the idea.
>>
>>47807203
...yeah there's a reason they don't release much for Elder Exalted and brought down the powerlevel in 3e
>>
>>47807112
I'm a little uncertain about how powerful the Emperor was in his prime, but I'd loosely say Essence 4-5 is probably enough for that. The Emperor, AFAIK, was an incredible leader and administrator who could set up a million-world empire; not so much an incredible combatant who could single-handedly tank a million enemies.
>>
>>47807340
You do have to takeinto account his unparalleled psychic power though, surely that's gotta bump him up a couple of Essence ranks?
>>
>>47807203
Epic level 3.5 casters get Epic Spellcasting.

Your argument is invalid.
>>
>>47807310
Elder Solars are pretty much One-Punch-Man
>>
>>47807203
You could pick an intermediate level where they get into a ranged fight? At very long ranges.

In which case the elder uses shit like Boundless Arrow of the Unconquered Sun which shoots an autohitting attack across realms of existence targeting anyone under any open sky on any plane, and the epic psion responds with shit like manifesting Temporal Regression to make the last round of events not have happened (but can still personally "remember" them).

See also >>47807310
>>
>>47807455
Unless you abuse infinite loops - in which case you might as well just Pun-Pun - 3.5 Epic Spellcasting is absolute shit.

>>47807402
Tell me more about the Emperor's psychic power? Because I think it would likely fall under the sort of "special attacks" that Exalted is deliberately designed to be able to no-sell a lot, in order to force the game into kung-fu-fighting resolution rather than seeing who brought the most obscure special attack today.
>>
>>47807550
Are you including massive waves of fire and other such attacks as things Solars are supposed to no sell? Cause he could probably do that.
>>
>>47807550
At least until said Solar gets mote-tapped and dies like a punkass bitch.

>>47807501
Any given Eldar doesn't have literally every charm ever, though. They tend to favor a single fighting style.
>>
>>47807675
Yep. Solars can no-sell waves of fire, acid rain, sandstorms, blizzards and other environmental hazards persistently and cheaply. Makes for more dramatic backdrops to the kung fu fighting!
>>
>>47807722
Fair enough, I still feel like the Emperor should require at least Essence 7 from a single Solar
>>
one must remember that the solars will get no stunt rewards with no spiders to give them.
>>
>>47807758
This is entirely possible. The comparison involves a lot of arbitrary conversions and margin for error.
>>
>>47807781

Not a thing in the new edition.
>>
>>47804152
>3e Solar Exalted are weaker than 3.5 archivists, artificers, clerics, druids, and wizards, true fact.
I'd say only at level 17, with bullshit like Wish and Gate.
And this is because 3E exalts can't go over essence 5 like 2E could. A level 30 druid/planar shepherd would be hard pressed to match a 7 essence exalted and would get blown away by an 8 essence.
>>
Exalts are captured and experimented upon, exaltions are eventually extracted, researched and when figured out, cheap mass produced knockoffs of solar exaltions are distributed to general public.
>>
>>47808019
has that been confirmed or can it still crop up when Yu-Shan gets more details?
>>
>>47808393

It's pretty far down the "stupid navel-gazing bullshit explaining things that don't need or benefit to be explained" category that the devs have railed against, yes.
>>
>>47801787
Oh, man.

Warmahordes General is going to whine so hard about these guys' stats.
>>
>>47808234
Exalts themselves haven't been able to figure out exaltations. What makes you think people in your setting can?
>>
