If you're doing Tau and what to do a lore style Cadre, would there be more Fire Warriors on the field or more Kroot Carnivores and Vespid Stingwings?

I thought Tau were usually the minority in their own Cadres, but I've recently learned they have cloning so I'm not sure anymore.
>>
>>47760120
>they have cloning
i thought cloning didn't work in 40k
>>
>>47760120
You'd have more fire warriors. Auxiliaries are just that, auxiliaries.
>>
>>47760133

>i thought cloning didn't work in 40k

If that were true for a second then the Krieg Regiments and Dark Eldar military wouldn't exist in the capacity they do now.
>>
>>47760120
>>47760133
Small-scale cloning is doable for Tau and Imperium in the fluff, and the Imperium has large-scale cloning when it comes to very hi-tech worlds and background exceptions like Krieg.

Chaos can also kinda do it but its usually just Fabius Bile or Warp God shenanigans.

>>47760120
Depending on where the Cadre comes from, you can go for either more auxiliaries or more Tau. Most tend towards Tau soldiers with specialist Aux forces, but I'm pretty sure there's a sept out there that has a lot of aux soldiers to back them up.
>>
>>47760133
>>47760195
Cloning doesn't, artificial wombs do.
>>
>>47760187

>Auxiliaries are just that, auxiliaries.

I thought they were the majority and backbone of non-battlesuit infantry?
>>
>>47760241
Not really. That doesn't make much sense from any perspective you look at it.

From a rules perspective, Vespid are fast attack, so they're going to be a minority no matter what. Kroot are troops like Fire Warriors, but even then that's only equals.

From fluff, Kroot are mercenaries and vespid are from a single world. Not the sort of thing that can be fielded in large numbers everywhere reliably.

And from artwork, most Tau battle scenes show a lot of fire warriors in ranks, with usually only a handful of vespid or kroot.

Fire Warriors are still lthe backbone of the Tau military, even if Battlesuit spam lists with a handful of Kroot snipers is more popular.

So I'm a bit unclear on how Allies work. Do you have to take an Allied detachment to bring any allies, or can you just bring any Allied formation that's not a CAD?

For example, If I'm playing IG and decide to bring Space Marine allies, do they have to be in an Allied Detachment, or can I just bring a 1st Company Task Force?
>>
>>47760374
Act appropriately and do taurox stunts.
>>
>>47760489
As long as they're in some formation and line IP on the ally chart, you can bring them. The allied detachment is just a way to bring a small number in a limited way
>>
>>47760489
To make a battle forged army, you can bring any number of any type of detachment of any faction. (literally. any) As long as you obey each detachment's restrictions (for example, the Allied Detachment can't be the same faction as your primary)
>>
>>47760489

Cloning DOES work in 40K. The only issue is that cloned humans do not have souls, and are therefore easily possessable by Daemon and other Warp-creatures (as they don't possess either a soul OR the Pariah gene).

>>47760195
>>47760217
It's not known what the Krieg actually do to replenish their numbers. All that's known is that it's so bad that Commissars keep it under wraps for morale purposes, and they themselves admit it makes them uncomfortable to know about.

It may be cloning, but it's far more likely something worse like state-sanctioned rape factories or vat-growing procedures.

it's an upside downside thing.
Wave serpents are really good, even for their cost, but the downside is that you don't get a cheap transport option.

Now that they nerfed the serpent shield shooting, and it's no longer also the best shooting tank in the army, it fits pretty well.

Very good, but it's not one of the parts of the eldar codex that makes in fucked up even from internal analysis.

They took out the "it's dark in dere" rule, and also made ogryn take up three spots in the chim instead of two. So you can't run the five ogryn + commissar +priest meat bus, which was one of IG's more interesting gimmick units.

I mean I get that bullgryn would have been way too good if you could shove them into chims like that, but the regular ogryn weren't really good enough to justify the nerf

Emperors Children fought an entire planet of amphibians on a waterworld. They were Slaanesh worshippers, and kickstarted Fulgrim - and his Legion - succumbing to Chaos.

The slimy lizard fish race made a weird noise in their debauchery that inspired the sounds the first Noise Marines made.

And of course, the final battle on the planet is where Fulgrim obtained the Daemon possessed sword that ended up possessing him, and cutting Ferrus Manus' head off.

GK fan here, I don't care too much about winning. I just play armies for their appearance, lore, and play style - even if it's not the most effective thing in the meta.

If you aren't playing Eldar or Tau or Gladius you're pretty much mid-tier and that's fine with me. I don't really believe in trying to win in "tournament" 40k since the allies system is so fucking broken.

FYI my other armies are SW and BA.

I like two things: Melee and Marines.

I mean, it's how airburst munitions work, and that's what Whirlwinds fire. If it's not how they're expressly written to work, it's an entirely reasonable take on how they function.
>>
>>47761986
GKs weren't busted because of halberds, you had to pay a decent fee for them.
It was purifier spam, psybolt mortis dreads, flyers when few armies had a counter, and dreadknights when few armies could stand before them.
If the dex was exactly the same now, it would be a good dex, but would still lack the numbers and firepower that accompanies it to stand against the best.
Honestly, I loved how it could have low numbers and still punch way above it's numerical weight with good gear and strong units.

Look, GW is fucking stupid when it comes to explaining how shit works. How the hell do Meltas work, for example? We know what they DO, but how do they do it?

Look at Total War: Warhammer. The Lumiark of Hysh has a picture in the Empire codex, firing a beam. Yet the game has the Lumiark fire a 'fireball' of light.

Now, you could argue that CA were just super fucking lazy and re-used the Dwarf Flamecannon model... But then that asks the question: Since when does an implied Flamethrower Cannon fire big balls of fire?

It's best to just shrug and let companies do what they want.

I'm more annoyed about the Knight pilot arguing with Gabe about what he was doing. Bitch, you don't get to argue. If you're part of a House, you're bonded to the Space Marine Chapter either forever or for a battle, in which case, neither allow you to gainsay what their overall leader says. Or, if you're a Freeblade, you have even less of a say because you don't have any oaths of loyalty or shit to the Chapter, you're going to be less likely to be trusted in your opinion. Especially if you're a mute like the Obsidian Knight.

Oh and Knight Titans don't fucking drop in like that, either. They land in fuckhuge Marcocarriers.

Fuck that looks cool. Tau foot infantry need more rail rifles, they're pretty rad.

I'd say a variant Stealthsuit with a shoulder-mounted sniper rifle. Stealthy Ranged Support mirror to Shadowsun's Stealthy close-range support. The rifle itself is folder on the back and he leans, the rifle unfolds over his shoulder and grips/braces with his arms for added stability. If you're familiar with the Armored Core games, it's like when you use shoulder-mounted guns without Human+.

Make him have some synergy with other rail rifle units, like giving them an extra shot, extends their range by 12 inches or makes them twin-linked.

The lack of operator protection and the fact that the blade is held and not arm mounted.
