I like item sets so long as the individual items are still worth having.
Various equips that provide some basic-level bonuses for warriors are nice because low-level warriors can still get use out of them, which can help warriors get to the point where they could collect the rest of the set. If the set as a whole has a good effect, that's just an upgrade to something you already had and were getting use out of.
