People are never gonna find this thread.

The picture is too iconic, and the words 'game' and 'finder' are used in every other thread, so searching is impossible, so most people rely on visual scanning of the catalog.

I'm available from 02:00 AM GMT-5 EST on Fridays to 02:00 AM GMT-5 on Saturday and then again from 04:00 PM GMT-5 Sunday to 04:00 AM GMT-5 Monday. Meanwhile my friend is realistically available at all hours until such a point at which they find a job.

Both of us have moderate experience with the settings, with real game experience in D&D 4e and Shadowrun 5e and have studied D&D 5e's rules, and I have a moderate amount of experience as a GM for both settings, so if required I could step in to offer assistance to the GM, though I prefer like to keep that limited if at all possible. I'm sick of GM'ing desu senpai, and I was never that good at it to begin with. Lore knowledge is sporadic and incomplete in some areas, but can easily be corrected through a recommended reading list. Again, we're willing to learn anything required to play.

We would prefer someone who is willing to offer some flexibility in the character creation rules, and would be willing to work with someone who is to make sure things stay balanced, but that being said we can work with anything in those given settings as we have more experience making characters at this point than actually playing the game.

Ideally we would come as a set of PC's, but if my schedule is impossible to work with and you were still intrested in playing with my friend then I would encourage them to try to play without me. No promises on whether or not they would say yes to that, though.

I have played a few different games between pathfinder, 3.5e and 5e but I am in no way proficient, so most likely I'll ask questions every now and then depending on the situation. Hopefully that's not a major issue. I'm a huge fan of becoming overpowered throughout a game, but I have no problem playing a real human just trying to survive in a harsh world.

If it turns into an app, it ruins the worth of it.

Finding a game should be HARD.

Have you seen what happens when normies get access to the hobby?

You end up with tons of 'let me play pls i dont know how though'
>>
>>47724324
Then you stop being an autistic antisocial neckbeard and teach them.

I'd rather see more "normies" in gaming. It would make it easier to fill my games with sane, sanitary, and healthy people. Which means more focus on plot and character and less on numbers and "muh magical realm."
>>
>>47724798

In almost every game I've run, I've taken on a single inexperienced player. About 80% of them stick around.

I can't handle more than one inexperienced player at a time.

I have an idea, why not have a discord server for everyone on /tg/ that wants to play a game. A different channel can be made by any GM that wants to play and they'll name it whatever game they're running. Then players join until they reach however many they want?
>>
>>47726459

Nobody wants to use shillscord.

Roll20, skype, and IRC are fine tools.
>>
>>47726525
Why not? You can't host servers with Skype where people can meet to join games. It seems like a win/win.
>>
>>47726558

>implying you can't

Nobody wants random illiterate assholes wandering in willy-nilly screaming "GAMEPLS".

It's far better to have them come to you on skype one-on-one, where you can talk to them and see if they're a real human being before letting them talk to the group proper.

>>

Don't want to hear your weak ass distorted voice quivering over the mic as you try to make jokey jokes and pretend to be a drink Barbarian or suave dashing rogue or little girl gnome.
>>
>>47728567
Voice is definitely less suited to immersive roleplaying, but it also significantly speeds up the game. I prefer a mix of the two, with a strong preference for voice in combat.
>>
>>47728535
They're the same codec man, both use VP8. You're not gonna see anything different.
>>
>>47728690
The codec is the least important part. The most important thing is the connection protocol and architecture which are completely different. Skype isn't a piece of shit because of the codec it uses. It's shit because in larger conference calls you have connection problems all the fucking time.

The Saturday game is the game with more experienced players. We have less issues and more fun. The game's quite rule-of-cooley and we allow most things.

The Sunday game is mainly for playing with the newer players. It just started so expect some slight issues. It's GM'd by the same person.

>>
>>47744984
Group size doesn't have anything to do with the problem, dingus. First game has six players, Saturday game has five, and so does the Sunday game.
>>
>>47744090
Yeah after the second session I talked with them and we both kind of arrived at the conclusion that maybe the hobby wasn't really for them (at least not our group, which as you may guess from me being on /tg/ take our playing pretend pretty seriously). They left, and the campaign moved on though with some slight retconning and DM fiat.

I still think that newbies who join games, put in 0 effort and generally just don't really care about the game are pretty bad. You just don't have to fukken crucify them for it.
>>
>>47745031
Sounds like none of those games you mentioned have players, dingus. Or GMs, for that matter.
>>
>>47745336
>on /tg/ take our playing pretend pretty seriously
I've been GMing games for the /tg/ crowd for three years almost and this has never been the case. Most anons either take their original characters too seriously, or they don't care enough beyond rolling dice. It's never about the game or setting.

At least with clean slates I can mold them into proper players.

Heck, I've found that it's those animu lovin weebs who've never played before who care the most about the game and the setting.
>>
>>47745525
>Most anons either take their original characters too seriously, or they don't care enough beyond rolling dice.

Too true senpai, thats why I usually keep new players in limbo for a bit to get a feel for how they'll be, if all they care about is character creation rules and if they can use X Y and Z homebrew/obscure 3rd party books its usually a bad sign desu.

I can also confirm that the weaboo trash are usually most interested in the roleplaying and storytelling aspect of games. I would know, I'm one of them :^)

It's less about the game itself and more about the principle of agreeing to be in a certain time and place at a certain hour-- I understand that lives can be complicated things but it's incredibly frustrating to have three games explode with little to no notice.

Also, I don't think you know who I am.

Whether it's because of anime, heavy metal, pulp fantasy, video games, or Saturday morning cartoons.

I've lost count of how many games I've played in that had references to vidya and some obscure 80s cartoon no one watched.

1st game - GM admits he didn't have time or freedom to run game. Three weeks down the drain.
2nd game - not mad at the GM, mad at the two players who dropped off the face of the earth, minus one.
3rd game - This is the one I'm more sad about than angry. It's more the then there were none piling on here.

I don't feel like I'm in the wrong for being upset! And like I said, it's not about the game it's about signing on to something you have no plans to follow up on! You make it sound like I have no right to be ticked.
>>
>>47748665
Everyone has a right to be upset. But dude, don't misrepresent your GMs. First had to quit because of life, Second didn't happen because of other players, Third, because his computer literally exploded. Just take a deep breath and remember that tabletop is nothing more than an extended game of pretend.

A gamefinder discord sounds like a pretty good idea honestly. You often don't know if you'll get on with a rando nando until the actual game itself so it'd be much easier just to recruit people you like from a discord.

Czech here. Eastern Europe is nice place to visit, but not so great to live at. Out of the issues that will worry you at the retirement age: healthcare is sub-par, gypsies, very few people actually speak English not even offices/post/police, if people figure you got money they will try everything to scam you out of it, food will give kill your gall and give you diabetes, gypsies, lot of smokers.
>>
>>47760030
You said gypsies twice.
>>
>>47760030
Also, he's probably not rich enough for early retirement here considering norwegian prices and spending habits. He's also going drink himself to death because he's scandinavian and they have limited access to liquors for a good reason.

Our healthcare is fine, why do people shit on it I don't know.

Looking for roleplaying games most of all, I like to focus my characters on characterization over just being a powergamer and optimizing for combat and ruining everyone's good time.

Really looking for a WHFRP2e game and I'm open to learning new systems if you'll indulge me to it.
Right now I'm just looking to play with some fellow others who are also interested in interacting as a party and doing more than just typical combat types or playing as them myself and using my role as a enforcer to make lesser combatants submit and such.
I also like giant robots and having a pilot outside of it with his own abilities too
