Why has the Inquisition not shit down their throats yet?

How do they keep getting away with it?
>>
Because that's what the new one is about.

Because "shitting down the throat" of a group of 50 gorillian 8 foot tall murderhobos is easier said than done, and there are much more constructive avenues to use that energy on

Because them being compulsive kleptomaniacs is more of a meme than anything. At worst, they're grave robbers which, really, isn't that unusual in the Imperium.
>>
>>47696507

Being a space marine chapter and having stopped multiple assaults by Chaos, Xenos and the like can get you a lot of brownie points with the less braindead inquisitors.

Plus, iti s a huge hassle getting rid of an entire space marine chapter. You need a significant force to get to them and to take them out.Who are you going to get? Most other space marine chapters will want a lot of solid proof before going against brother marines, and it is usually not a good idea to tell guardsmen than the Angels of the Emperor's Fury are corrupted and that they should go slay them. Then you also need to commandeer Navy resources to match the Chapter fleet...

At some point, even if you can do it, the forces required start being pretty significant, and remember, the Imperium is always under some sort of threat. At the same time in the same sector, you may have several worlds with mass mutant rebellions, , chaos agents fomenting unrest on other planets, a likely genestaler infestation yet elsewhere, a "minor" orc WAAAGH! and several hotspots of pirate activity.

Are you really sure you want to weaken the Imperium on any of these fronts in order to purge a Space Marine chapter that is acting dodgy?

Because the Inquisition agrees with them. How do you think they got Grey Knight assistance in the first place?
>>
>>47697998
They doesn't mean the Blood Ravens stole them. They easily could have found them, or be gifts.

Both are much more likely than theft, considering the rather high profile source of some of the relics.
>>
>>47698030
Except sometimes the blood ravens explicitly say that they acquired the items through official exchanges that the other party is completely unaware of.

No one's going to openly state anything, as usual, but it's not that far fetched to think about it in either way.
>>
>>47697918
Don't forget the other problem. Barring rivalries, Muhreen chapters back each other over the rest of the Imperium. The Space Wolves have been allowed to get away with a ton of shit because the other First Founding chapters will back them over the =][= on principle, up until the Wulfen thing finally fucking tore it. Not only is purging Marines a logistical clusterfuck, it's a political one too. Except the chapters that literally no one likes for whatever reason, like the Crimson Slaughter or the Soul Drinkers, but even with as much shit as the BRs get from other chapters for being that annoying kid who always wants to run with the grownups, they aren't *that* bad.

The Blood Ravens originate from that video game fagtron
>>
>thinking that the Imperium won't actually go out of their way to destroy a Space Marine chapter
They have an entire force dedicated to exactly that. If the High Lords of Terra wanted them dead, they'd send the Minotaurs after them.

But the Blud Rehvens did clean themselves up.
Forces involved in Kronus were absolved after confirming Kyras was corrupted, and that Thule, the commander on the ground, was free of taint and was merely obeying Kyras' orders.
Forces involved in Kaurava were destroyed. Nothing to absolve or purge.
Tainted BR elements were destroyed by loyalist BR elements, including basically every layer of command they had. That Hereticus Inquisitor from Retribution then confirmed the reports and announced the BRs were squeaky clean.

>"gifts" they got chapters that don't remember ever giving anything
Remember that the BRs are obsessed with recording their history. The chapters they got stuff from considered those exchanges beneath notice.
>>

DoW lore, like 40k in-universe, is filled with ambiguities, mysteries, and urban legends that will send you to a dead end if you try to track the original source.

For instance, just about every 40k fan site tells you that Stubbs won Kaurava, but good luck finding any official source confirming that.

The Black Templars fucking hate the Blood Ravens, partly because of the natural psyker hate, but mostly because the Ravens deliberately piss them off at every opportunity after one of them tried to attack one of their librarians commanding a company
>>
>>47696507
Because there's a plan for the Blood Ravens. The greatest plan ever devised, something that the forces of Chaos would never see coming. Their kleptomania will be used to do the unthinkable, take the untakable.

And all it takes is for them to join their ancestor legion, the Thousand Sons.

The Blood Ravens joining Chaos will cause them to do what they normally do, amplified thousand-fold. You see, they will take the skulls from the Skull Throne. They will take the greatest, most horrible concoctions Nurgle ever devised. They will take the loudest instruments, the most intoxicating drugs, and the lewdest pornography from Slaanesh. They will take the most ingenious plans from Tzeench before they can be put into motion, before they can be foiled to further other ingenious plans.

The fallen Blood Ravens will steal Chaos from the Chaos Gods.
>>
>>47696507
What, does "nuking two planets in their home sector" not count as "shit down their throats"?

This has always been how I took it anyway. Some descriptions do make a point of the Blood Ravens having the item when they shouldn't, and there's more than one mention of them outright looting the dead remember how both the Blood Ravens and Grey Knights were in Winter Assault?, but ultimately, stuff like >>47698902 and >>47700447 is there for the same reason that Adrastia has Barbarisater, Freddie Mercury has Yarrick's old chainsword as well as Sturnn and Alexander's gear, and so on.

Frankly I'm almost surprised they didn't include God-Splitter as an item drop too.

>>47702484
>Forces involved in Kaurava were destroyed. Nothing to absolve or purge.
Not all of them. And regardless of whether any Blood Ravens survived, if the Guard had won as is so often claimed, an investigation - further investigation - of the already-suspect Chapter whose Marines had yet again openly fought against other Imperial forces in dubious circumstances would have been a logical outcome. Though who can say really, with how the IG campaign handled their side of that conflict.

Of course, if a non-Imperial faction beat the Blood Ravens, it could have taken place before they got a chance to butt heads with the Guard, keeping things nice and clean (for the Blood Ravens at least - IG vs SoB was a given). But Chaos Rising kind of put paid to that idea, even if it still didn't say who won.

>Gauntlet of the Templar
>The Black Templars Space Marine’s legendary hatred of psykers at times extends to the Blood Ravens. Legend has it, this animosity came to a head in M36 when a Templar crusade engaged a strike cruiser of the 5th Company – led by a Commander and Librarian. but the real answer is the the inquisition has no authority over them, at all.
They are both organizations outside the law, and unlike pretty much everyone else, Space Marines are not technically imperial citizens, and the inquisitorial mandate only extends to those.

Any kind of action they take against them is more of a coercion and power play, that always needs to be balanced against how much they would anger the adeptus astartes as a whole.
Extermination of the flame falcons?
No problem, they all exhibited absolute signs of warp mutation, even if they might have been benign, or even emperor willed, that´s what the legion of the damned is for.

Anything less egregious is a surefire way to in the least ruin your chances of getting them to work with you or anyone you associate with for a long time, and at worst could lead to some "accidents", and by "accidents" I mean even military raids on inquisition installations and wholesale slaughter, of which no one can know, or otherwise the inquisition´s pretense to absolute authority woud be perdu.

It's probable enough that the captains of the companies loyal to Kyras turned with him, but throughout the series we never actually saw any other than the ones who were major characters, all of whom remained loyal (to Emps, not Kyras):

- Angelos obviously fought against Kyras and got stomped, then survived to take command of the entire Chapter (as well as all the credit for beating Kyras, presumably).
- Thule was nidded in the first DoW2 campaign, leaving the 4th Company leaderless. In Chaos Rising he was literally incorruptible, and in Retribution he was still loyal despite only appearing as a level 1 boss fight for Steve Blum the Inheritor.
- Boreale was ded, and whether he'd been replaced yet is unknown, as is what happened to the captains of the four other companies he led in Kaurava - or if they were even there.
- Diomedes took some serious convincing but ultimately led the loyalists that did all the work to topple Kyras, afterwards purging and reforming the Chapter with Angelos.

So other than the 3rd and 4th Companies and the Honour Guard, all the current Blood Raven captains were, and are, completely unaccounted for. Maybe they followed Kyras, or refused and were either killed or forced into hiding, in any combination. Maybe Kaurava wasn't the only recent operation that went south for the Blood Ravens, and DoW2 featured Thule, Angelos, and Diomedes exclusively because those three were the only captains still alive by then ("The Chapter cannot endure in its weakened and misguided state" indeed).

As it is, you're free to make up your own captain to fill one of the 8 blank spaces and decide for yourself what part he played in the whole thing.

Probably.
They need new captains after all, and we know he was loyal enough in 2 to make Kyras' shit list.

I hope tarkus gets Captain as well
