I'm trying to do a collaborative world building exercise with my players this weekend, we are going to use dawn of worlds for the universe and microscope for its history.

Sadly, not really - like most of us, I'm better at complaining and bitching than being productive. Microscope CAN work, if everyone involved is taking things relatively seriously - I have found, with my group, that we tend more towards 'good times' than 'serious', so silliness tends to bubble to the surface with us (and i suspect this to be the case with most of us /tg/ers).
I will try to post some helpful tidbits for you, though - hopefully something will be of use. And have fun this weekend, brother!

I don't know - there's really not much to it, it's hard to make it work 'correctly', and the end product is nice to look at, maybe, once.
I suspect it is the IDEA of the game - it SEEMS cool and useful and magical until you actually try to play it. Then it seems to get old quick (at least from those I've spoken with). Not a lot of continuity or progression - it's kind of a one-shot experience, I guess.
I suppose it would be good for one-shots.

If you're doing anything fantasy related, the village/player generation in Beyond The Wall and the larger world generation in the expansion Further Afield is really well put together. Should be in the OSR trove.
If you're doing scifi and FATE doesn't enrage you, Diaspora has a well put together collaborative sector building system.

I've played it a few times, but its tricky. Everyone has to be mostly onboard with some centralized themes otherwise it gets into lolrandom pretty fast. But yeah, one-shots only. Either way its worth looking at from a design standpoint if you're going to gm/world build.

Cool, this site seems pretty decent. It does require scripting in order to work, and has the google analytics tracking stuff, but noscript blocks that fine.
Anonfiles used to be good, I think it was founded by a 4chinz user like five or six years ago as an anonymous filesharing site that didn't log anything, but some of the banners their ad service was running like last year were pretty funky. I've been looking for a good replacement for the past few months, as google/firefox have been warning people off of the site ever since.

In the event that a Monarch is believed to be leading the people from Heaven, they are sent to Hell, and a new Monarch is elected.
The Tukor Archipelago has no singular religion, per se, but has a wealth of pagan folk religions with a shared set of core deities. Chief among them is an enigmatic figure known only as Tukor, from whom the region takes it's name. Tukor is often represented as a dragon, but his true race has been lost to time. According to legend, he appeared amongst the warring tribes and taught them to see the potential of a united Infernal race. He was elected as the first ruler of the Infernal Republic, and disappeared on the day his successor took office. An honorary tomb was built for him, and he was forever venerated as the gaurdian spirit of the archipelago. Officials are often elected based on their similarity to Tukor.

Cosmic Radiation, as it turns out, is a plentiful source of raw magical energy. Dragons, coincidentally, are natural attractors for this energy, and thus end up absorbing 90-95% of the radiation that makes it through the thin atmosphere. The thing is that you are assuming 3d6 is a linear thing, like if it was 1d18 or 1d20

Okay, this is a bit of a longshot, but I'm actually trying to remember the name of a particular game to look into it more. It's some Swedish/Polish (not sure) game system with a story that was compared to Dark Souls. From what I remember, there was some overly ambitious queen that ignored warning about a forbidden land and proceeded to found a huge kingdom there without realizing that there were centuries worth of demon-infested ruins beneath the ground, and much of the game play would be devoted to exploring these ruins and unraveling their secrets. I also seem to recall something about a barbarian tribe that lived in the wastes near said forbidden land/kingdom? I honestly can't recall anything more than that, but there was a kickstarter for it to be translated into English from whatever eastern European language it was written in. I have this inkling that the name may have started with a C but I can't rightly recall.
Does anyone remember what I'm talking about, or know the name? It really intrigued me and I'd love to see if the kickstarter went over and what the progress is on a US release.
