Nothing Interesting Happened in the Last Thread Edition
Hurry up with Inferno Sub-Edition
In the last thread potential Custodes rules were thrown about while we tried to decide if they were OP or not, we counted the wolves on Leman Russ, Knight Anon got yelled at, we got a new pic of the Glaive Praetor and people pointlessly argued about his legion, Dorn got told off, animal skulls were compared, /a/ showed up and took a shit everywhere, a bunch of warpy stuff got posted, I clutch at straws and not much more in the last thread >>47652419

Under powered is the new meme, it basically translates to 'not totally OP'. All the Istvaan III legions had it, DG complained first but it was only minor and was drowned out by people complaining about not having their legion rules. WEs complained next a bit until their new rules hit, now we only see occasional complaints about rampagers and cadre weapons. ECs are constantly complaining about things despite being pretty good now (then again that's EC for you so maybe they are just roll playing). Now it looks like SoH have picked up the complaint batton.

tl;dr: they had their time at the bottom so think they deserve their time at the top rather than everything remaining as balanced as possible.
>>
>>47669125

SoH are probably top tier right now

Also someone should add the text of the chainaxes rule to that memo, just to throw more salt in the continuously gushing wound

Right then. I have made some changes though.
>Exploratory fleet went out during a calm period during the Age of Strife. Got sent back in time two years before Age of Strife happened at Forge World's future site
>tried to warn sector about the Age of Strife but was labeled as lunies
>Age of Strife happened and Chaos plus xenos rampaged across sector with some AI declaring themselves as humanity's successor
>cogboys started looting DAOT tech and bunkered down
>head cogboy staying alive through combo of bionics/cowardice/DAOT life extensions and needed a case of manning up
>conscience starting eating away him telling him to man up as his sanity took hits below the belt
>Best bro died making him snap
>Decided to man up, and prepared to be as heavy handed as he needed to be
>Thought revenge as a dish is a dish best served cold should be put to practice
>Titans that freeze things was made
>Slowly became just as bad as the monsters he fought
>Had a moment of lucidity and decided that monster like him wasn't needed anymore when the Long Night was drawing to an end
>Left instructions for his successor and froze himself

honestly not too bad, I've certainly read worse posted here. The only thing I'm iffy with is the time travel part as it is rarely approached in warhammer. I can only remember one instance where warp travel actually sends someone back in time (that ork), most of the time it is a variable journey. All those went back in time or jumped forward 10k years stories seem silly to me because it hardly ever happens.

Also when you say freeze do you mean by stasis munitions or literally turning things into ice cubes?

>>47669313
BA would be fluffier due to the siege, Sang and the Lion were discovered right after each other so it isn't like the emperor would have spent an exceedingly longer time with either. That being said I prefer DA and am making a Ravenwing army atm.

None of those. Fluff-wise the Imperial Fists fought alongside the Emperor the most frequently, and they were with him until the end.
I mean, several were, but the Imperial Palace lasted so long mostly because of them.

I've never liked time travels, but the few of them I love are ontologic paradoxes and the like Like Interstellar , so I'd say it's alright.

Your Archmagos progressively becoming less of a man and drillind too deep (Dwarf Fortress, kek) are ON SPOT, since that's what several AdMech end up doing.

If not for them, then for the ones that will follow.
>>
>>47669451
Having read >>47669222 my problem is that you're not really adding lore to a a forge world. You're just fluffing up a single guy. Personally, everything before "Titans that freeze things" is irrelevant. That's the benefit of the Age of Strife, you can black box the origins of forge worlds, and in general, just a few hints, like the fact that the original Lord Magos is frozen somewhere on the world, adds a lot more character than an exact reason. In fact, not knowing the reason in this case makes it more interesting for me.

I'm not a smart man. I'll add my fluff for the first head toaster molestor as a legend and the believed reason why he's frozen. As for the Forge World itself it's a tomb/war world with feral Orks on it forcing the inhabitants to be on their toes constantly which is a plus as the strongest will be added to the Skitarii.
>>

Hey, you have a GW.

At least you have an FLGS.

It's probably nothing. I've felt deja vus on stuff I'm aware I've never done. The mind simply tries to see patterns, and it's good at seeing them. Some times however, it's simply so used to them that it makes them up.

Well, only one of them is a legitimate poorfag, in his defence. The others just aren't cool with the costs though.

But yeah man, it sucks.

Also, I really want to get the Box DLC that comes with the IG Start Collecting! box. Multiples of them. I'm thinking of making a 'dockyard' sort of terrain/map on my table, and it's really getting to me.

I'll probably get it next year, I really want to start my 30k legion though.

Did Vulkan enjoy his time with Curze?
>>

I wish Word Bearers were Sworn Brothers with World Eaters.

Mostly because I don't like Sons of Horus.

But at least since they're with Armies & Cults I could ally my IG with them, or make that one Army list that involves using Cults and Legiones Astartes. Which could be nice and fluffy, though my color scheme for my IG would feel off compared to Word Bearers.

>>
>>47674589
What are you painting man? Got a legion in mind?

Some are considered harder to do than others, for various reasons. Imperial Fist yellow is a bit tricky, but desu not overly so, you just have to use a lighter basecoat and steadily build up layers. Great pay-off if you're patient. Sons of Horus have a slightly unusual sea green which is a bit of a challenge to get "right" but again, great scheme if you can do it well. Reduce the challenge with both these legions by painting a fair chunk of the armour black or gold, bronze, whatever.
White can be tricky, because it can be hard to shade without making the model look grubby. Tbh though I like my dudes to look like they've been fighting so I don't see this as too much of an issue.
There are a number of black legions, and making Your Black Legion the black it should be may also be a challenge. Iron Hands look great with a blue tinge, Raven Guard suit a charcoal, stealth black, Dark Angels perhaps a lacquered black.

As for tactics, consider hitting up 1d4chan. It'll give you an idea of the strengths and limitations of the released Legions so far.
>>
>>47674691
As I previously stated. Imperial Fists, I love the Fists and Rogal has recently become my favorite Primarch, not to mention the Genius of his "Last Wall Protocol".
I looked up a cool looking Tutorial and I was gonna try that.
I'm trying to get some Forge World through a Local Store (Woo Non-GW Gaming Stores!) so I am using 2 Space Marine Commanders as practice, and trying out several ways how to paint.
>>
>>47674772

Bigger than thought seems to be the main one; FW makes reference to them recruiting an entire generations worth of children from planets they attack.

>the survival rate for recruits is absolutely miniscule (0.001% or somesuch)

It's going to have to be one or more of these options. There are something like half a billion male youths of suitable age worldwide. The UK alone has several million.

Okay now I think I have actual lore for Muh forge world. Quid Fornax is the Forge World home to Legio Glacialis Flabra, and was once aspired to be the apple in the Omnissiah's eye. The planet itself is covered with craters of wars from ages best forgotten that are now deemed sacred by the local Martian priesthood. While some craters are new from the warfare of the local population, the priests know the holy craters from lesser craters. To desecrate these holy craters would result in a quick, merciless punishment.

The forge world while devoted to the Omnissiah has gone against the central tenet on inovation in the past before. The Fornaxian Priests assure all that this was the past, and that it was done out of desperation. Many have noted that they have a pretty lax attitude towards inovation, but are assured that nothing is done in their forges that would make the Omnissiah sick. The red robbed priests do make use of snow mobiles like the natives, but instead mount lascannons, rotor cannons, bolters, meltas rather than simple flamers and lasguns.

Space Wolves in 30k have been horrifically written ever since the start. I understand that they were written into a corner, what with them needing to lose 90% of them before the end of the Heresy, but I refuse to believe that "What if we make them absolute fucking idiots?" was the best solution.

I mean, the fucking invasion of Prospero is now a shitshow. Space Wolves had the element of surprise a larger fleet and a larger amount of Space Marines, as well as the Thousand Sons Primarch being moping in the back... And they STILL lost 50% of their legion in the battle. Then they jobbed to the Night Lords, then they jobbed to the Alpha Legion.

Yes. There are feral Orks and Necrons on the planet, but non-AdMech natives handle the Orks most of the time. The tech priests reward the settlements based on how many Orks they kill as their forges are mostly fueled by the corpses of Orkloids. As for the Necrons they are mostly frozen, but one or two thaw out every now and then. Those that are thawed out are lynched by the tech priests, and tied by the throat to the snow mobiles of the priests.

Gentlemen, any ideas on how to use and equip Reaver squads in the Long March RoW? Normally, I'd say jump packs, but that'd make them lose the benefits of the Relentless March rule.

Accept, you know, that part where they were his PERSONAL army during the late Unification Wars, early great crusade era...

>They spent most of the Heresy trying to decide who to side with.
They really didn't though. One Punch Lion Man was chasing Curze down, had to check to see if Rowboat was doing anything that needed him punched, destroying forests on Maccarge because his PTSD was actives, and then punched his way back to Terra. The traditional nature of the Dark Angels and their secret hierarchies within their legion deflected warrior lodge and Aloha Legion Inflitration most likely. We'll have to wait and see how FW does it. I suspect the Art of Calibanian Punching.
>Yo, Papa, some of these guys were sent from Horus to bring warrior lodges to us.
>If they can't take one punch this legion will have nothing to do with them.
As for them fighting with the Emperor they had to at one point. An IW had Unification honors. An Iron Warrior.

I like this a lot

I'm glad you do. If it's not a Destroyer it's getting tied to a snow mobile.

Like normal reavers? Geared for CCQ. You don't want them sticking around in your deployment zone just for the sake of relentless- take the fight to the enemy, where they will get Crusader so they can sweep the enemy. Why would you pay a premium for CC troops to shoot with them.

Whatre you guys working on today?

My newly decided-upon Dark Angels. Greenstuffing some robes or such.
>>
>>47681624
Nothing. It's too hot to prime, and I don't feel like assembling my other guardsmen right now.

I'm indecisive whether to buy the box DLC that comes with the IG starter box to expand my IG army, or get BaC and start my legion. It's a hard decision for me.

For legions, I'm leaning toward Word Bearers, Death Guard, Iron Hands, World Eaters, and Alpha Legion.

I'm going to laugh if you use BaC models.
>>
>>47681770
Not him, but there is no reason to use the resin MKIV models now that BaC exists

Plastic squatting legs suck.
>>
>>47681859
Yeah, but thats pretty much being negated by being less than half the price, more easily available and being easier to assemble, kitbash and convert
>>
>>47681859
so do the skinny FW legs
>>

better than never squatting legs

Anyone else not care about the "your dudes" aspect for 30k? Not trying to shit on the guys who post their lore here, it's good stuff, but I don't care to do it for myself. I like to think of HH as more of a "historical reenactment" of sorts, and like using guys who are "on the record" of being there and reenacting the battles they fought. Anyone else feel that way?
>>
>>47682063
yeah thats how i feel.
>>
>>47682063
kinda sorta

I like the pseudo-historical style, but using named characters and primarchs outside of big fancy events/scenarios feels wrong. Warmaster Horus wouldn't show up to some bumfuck 2k border skirmish.

Laugh ahead.

I agree. Also true. >>47681987
At least for mk.IV and VI.
