You were born on it, and for months had only your father to keep you company. That's a small comfort you no longer enjoy. He was quite old when you were born, and passed away before long. Since then, you've been all alone.
Waking from another night of slumber, you sit up in your room, looking around and finding everything exactly how it's been for the past year.
You honestly aren't sure why you get out of bed these days. The daily routine never changes. You get up, you check to see if you've reached your destination, you pace around, drift into daydreams, try to meditate or something, then go back to sleep.

You hop out of bed and stroll out of your room, coming to the main room where a large chair sits in front of a small computer. You wish your dad had taught you how to use the various systems, but you suspect even he didn't understand very much about it.
You take a seat and stare at the computer-screen, which flashes with numbers and words you really don't understand. You aren't sure who exactly built this ship, but you have difficulty believing they came from the same race as your father.
As usual, nothing of significance has happened, although you do notice some data that's been processing since your ship went through that weird storm.
Finally, information appears on the screen.

The computer tells you that there have been no negative effects from the storm your ship travelled through, though another message pops up moments later.
You reread it a few times, disbelieving it. It says you're approaching your destination.
You look out the ship's window and see a dot in the distance, rapidly approaching until you're speeding into a massive pink orb floating in space.
Your ship descends toward the ground, landing in seconds with a thud. You see tall brown things with green at their tops stretching for a long distance.

You're feeling somewhat cautious, so you glance around as much as you can from the relative safety of your ship. You don't see anything save a few tiny winged creatures occasionally passing by.
The coast looks clear, and you exit the ship for the first time in your short life.
The light of the planet's sun causes you to shield your eyes, and you feel yourself tense at unfamiliar sounds coming from the distance.
You let your vision adjust a bit, and survey you surroundings.
Your ship is sitting over a stream, and is surrounded by trees. You see tiny creatures moving among the trees, but get the sense they aren't a threat.

You decide to retrieve some containers from the ship, and soon return to the outside carrying an armful of them, ready to fill them with the first fresh water of your short life.
As you step out from under the ship, you take a good look at the pink sky above. For your whole life, the sky's always been a black void surrounding you. Now there's ground under your feet and a bright pink sky above.
It's strange, but in a good way, you suppose.
You make your way to the stream and begin filling your containers with water. As you fill the third, you hear a snap from behind you, and spin, looking into the trees and seeing nothing.
Still, you can't shake the feeling you're being watched, and you know the other creature is approaching before you even see it step out of the cover of forest.
It moves on four legs, and is covered in gray. It doesn't look like it's skin that's covering it, it looks softer somehow. It has a large round head with a massive mouth that opens wide to reveal no teeth. But you doubt it needs to chew this thing looks like it could swallow you whole.

You decide to try and get away from it.
You slowly stand and move in front of the ship, and the creature begins to walk toward you, opening its mouth wide. You hear an odd sound and see pebbles and stones being sucked into its gaping maw.
Feeling much less safe, you try flying. In the ship, you didn't have much room for it, but your father did make sure he taught you how to fly.
Your feet lift off the ground, and you slowly rise into the air. The creature looks up at you, surprised and confused at the moment, but it soon starts moving toward you again.
You've never had to fly high before, but you manage to do it, flying out of range of the creature's suction.
You call down to it, attempting communication. It doesn't respond beyond cocking its head in confusion.
Eventually, it loses interest in you and returns to the trees.

It walks on two legs like you, and has clothing on, so you figure it's intelligent. It has yellow skin, and some sort of dark thing on its head that looks like its attached, but not like skin. It has no antennae, but its ears are pointy like your own.

You land, going back into your ship and returning with arms full of water. Numkye gives you a quizzical looks, but decides not to comment.
The two of you walk into the woods, and he leads you safely through all the trees.
"So, what are your people like?" you ask, looking up at him.
"We're pretty simple," he tells you. "We live in towns and occasionally cities, usually near forests or oceans. We hunt, forage, cut down trees to build homes, but we make sure to grow more, so we always have all the resources we'll need. Most of us are pretty good, but there are a few jerks out there."
"Well, what do this invader and his men look like?" you ask.
"Lorko is big....in both senses. Tall, fat, but apparently pretty strong," Numkye explains. "He has scaly skin and crazy eyes, and came with a few creatures that were smaller and skinnier than him, plus a few big ones. They had all sorts of weird weapons that could kill from a distance using light, and these weird balls that would blow up and do a lot of damage. They conquered one of the planet's larger settlements, then started building all sorts of weird things to use against us."

"About half," Numkye explains. "Right now there's an ocean separating them from us, so we're momentarily safe."

"Some died, some willing joined Lorko," he tells you. "Some of the others are being kept as laborers. A few made it across the ocean to safety. They're with us now."
You find yourself in front of a large wooden fence. Two people who look similar to Numkye stand in front of it, holding sticks with pointy things at the end of it.
They step aside and let the two of you pass.
As you enter, you see another one of Numkye's people. They're thinner than Numkye, though they have two odd lumps on their chest, and much longer hair.
"So, did you find any good food?" the person asks.
Numkye shakes his head. "Better. This kid can help us beat Lorko."
The person looks at you quizzically.

"See, did I tell you, or did I tell you?" Numkye asks the girl, grinning.
Xidie smiles. "Well, I guess we have work to do."
