Anyone have suggestions as to alternate models for Nurgle Blight Drones?

Theyre almost the same profile, depending on how you array the wings

Also why wouldnt you want to use blight drones? Theyre one of the best models FW makes
>>
>>47640202
>Generate Warp charges on 2+
So instead of rolling 4-5 for a good chance at casting a WC2 I could just use 3-4 for the same power with this formation? I guess I'll keep them all close together for the charges, man that'll help a lot with making units TL which is mostly what I want, but my only concern is the cost.

Removed all but 1 Primaris saved at ML1 for formation. Replaced 1 LRBT with a Wyvern, took away Vox-caster from CCS (can't re-roll orders on HWS because no Vox upgrade option), plasma vets on foot became melta vets and no cheap GLs to fill in spare points so I'm at a clean 1,250. Might have missed something.
>>
>>47640734
Honestly, vehicles should just be MCs. Just give them a vehicle usr that makes them vulnerable to armorbane/haywire and call it a day. This Fucking table is retarded. >>
CSM, Sororitas, Orks, and Tyranids should all be merged into one faction called "Last Chancers"

not sure how the fluff on that would work out though
>>
>>47640740
I hate resin and 41£ per model means the three of them will cost as much as the rest of the army combined
>>
>>47640747
For the Psykana division, they're most effective if you use them for prescience (Primaris Power of Divinity, gives rerolls to hits) or if you have the models: daemonology.

If you combine a rapid fire range lasgun squad with first rank fire, second rank fire and prescience it is absolutely deadly. Especially if that squad has special weapons. That, or nurgling swarms for the super tanky troops that don't cost points. You can technically do both, have all Wyrdvanes on Daemonology and the Primaris on Divinity. Also giving your Russ to-hit rerolls can be pretty good, but its deadly when mixed with a super-heavy if you want to go that route.

If you play higher level games, though, they'll need Chimeras for the safety.

>>47638995
The second Primarch was a raised in a hippie commune and the eleventh was a conscientious objector. They were completely unsuited to lead Space Marine legions and were thus left to their own devices. The Emperor won't speak of them to avoid embarrassment.
>>
>>47641008
thats not a blight drone, its the carapace from a carnifex
>>
>>47640961
Thanks for the info, mass lasgun and lascannon fire with Prescience sounds right up my alley. I might know someone that may be into Daemonology too so this formation sounds helpful since I don't think they may not know much about it before.

Not sure how high in points or competitive I'll get, for now I'm doing friendly competition with friends and other people I know. This game will definitely be more interesting since it won't just be a bunch of LR Tanks, Chimeras and Wyverns.
>>
>>47641126
Jokes on me I guess, well then all theres left to do is finfing a way of differentiating them from the plague drones.
>>
I've been waffling about what I should have my second army should be for months. I currently have a force of CSM which I seem to just be perpetually working on and adding to.

>Option 1: Inquisitor + Scions
I love scion models, and they seem like they might be fun on the table, but they also feel like they can get screwed over as a core force really easily.

I love inquisitors in the lore, but they seem less fun in the crunch

>option 2: Junker Tau
General premise is tau with peeling paint, rust, grime, exhausts on their mechs, hooks and chains, drones built from space parts, etc. Not haphazard like Orks, but still has the junkyard aesthetic.

This would be a lot of fun hobby wise, which makes it appealing to me. I barely play the game any more, but I love the hobby aspect and enjoy that a lot.

Is this a good idea or would this get ruined instantly

Ethereal council, 2x ethereals plus aun'va and his body guard, all on top of a drone platform

24 inch bubble where everything tau inside it gets stubborn, rapid fire, FNP and can fire snap shots after running in the shooting phase, plus a map wide reroll on failed leadership tests, the drone port is 4 points to allow me to get that bubble to the middle of the map and allows them to buff my outflankers, breachers and pathfinders

would this be legit or is it too large of an investment for essentially having a big "attack me with blast weapons to win" center piece of my army?
>>
>>47642142
it's fluffy, but only really going to be relevant if you run a shit ton of infantry instead of the usual tau affair

Maybe 10 or 15 years ago, but a lot of our tariffs are really low now especially after a few mining booms. For years GW has actually straight out tried to stop independent selling of their products to Australia. Sure, it's going to be slightly more expensive due to shipping costs and extra fees but what's offered is insane. Sometimes Forgeworld is cheaper.

Luckily, my local GW manager is one of the nicest guys I've ever met (even if it's his job) and finds loopholes all the time to try and give his customers cheaper stuff.

Everyone forgets that you pay in British pounds, not Australian dollars. Which means the price is doubled with 15-25% for shipping

1250 pt army idea for >>47642142

Formation
Ethereal Council, Aun'va + 2 Ethereals with armor and honor blades (220pts)

CAD
Darkstrider (100pts)

4x stealth suits, 1x shas ui with fusion, ML and TL (170pts)

20x rifle fire warriors (180 pts)

2x Remora drones (180 pts)
6x pathfinders 3x ion pathfinders, shas ui, 2x gun drones, pulse accel drone, grav inhib drone (205 pts)

2x railsides with SMS, one has TL (135pts)

Droneport (60pts)

total: 1250 pts

Darkstrider infltrates with the pathfinders to make it very hard to get assaulted plus the -1T for the snipers and 24" carbines

Council sits on the droneport (maybe with the broadsides, i doubt they will fit though) and buffs the everliving shit out of everything, after the bodyguards are dead, aun'va is the ablative wound because hes a fucking madman

depending on who im against, the 2x10 man rifle squads use running + snap shots to push to the mid or set up a firing line within 6" of the droneport incase of deep strikes

remoras are there for cheap skyfire and seeker missile delivery, once they have accomplished that they will hover in a building to have permanent 2+ cover save

broadsides are expendible anti-tank who will be using the markerlights from the pathfinders and remoras if needed, i dont have a riptide so these are used instead

Stealthsuits are there to provide more dakka, i think for this setup they are better than the crisis team alternative, but it would be easy to swap them out

thoughts?

Is this really how the rules work? Can someone explain with a page number to cite?

I appreciate it, y'all.
>>
>>47643277
Even at the upper point levels 40k Eldar and Space Marines are superior thanks to Grav/Psychics and the D just shredding the big deathstars that 30k uses at those point levels.
>>
>>47643694
looking at the bikes section right now, theres nothing that says its either/or, you pivot and then you move 12"
>>
>>47643568
30k legionnaires have superior gene-seed thanks to less time for degradation. They also have more and better "relic" type stuff. 40k astartes have superior line equipment thanks to refinements and advances over the millennia, but they've lost a lot of the crazy relic shit.

Whether or not 40k astartes have a superior lack of fear is kind of all over the place. Some novels claim 30k legionnaires already have no fear, other sources implicitly and explicitly state that they do.

We're still learning the ins and outs of 40k and encountered a rather dumb question that needs answering.

His Centurions technically have Line of Sight on one of my model's pauldrons. Therefore, his unit of Centurions are allowed to target and shoot at my hiding unit.

But can they allocate Wounds to the other NINE fucking models that they cannot see?

Can anybody cite the page number in the rulebook for this? We spent a good 10 minutes combing through our books and could find no fruitful resolution.

Granted it was not for a strategic reason. Allow me to explain:

>been playing DE for the past 6 months so forgot many Space Marine rules
>picked the cheapest HQ just to fill a slot
>opponent informed me on Turn 1 that Heavy Weapons that don't roll To Hit cannot fire if they moved, which I was unaware of.

My "strategy" was putting as many Ravenwing Bikes as I could on the field that my model count allowed (6 RW Bikes, 3 Black Knights) in our humble 750 point list.

I learned more about this weekend's game than I have in the past 2 months about 40k.

I also learned that Grav has basically replaced Plasma much to my Dark Angels' dismay. It almost makes me want to quit DA and just play SM since they have way more options and are objectively better.

Unless you're running exclusively against tier one armies, Dark Angels are perfectly fine. The discrepancy between SM and DA is largely due to a handful of formations.

Well I'm looking at a pure (heh) Nurgle list.

I'm not hellbent on them though, but they do seem to fill Nurgles lack of ranged offense, If I do go pure Incursion the only ranged that Nurgle can have would be psykers, princes and soul ginders.
>>
>>47644918
>>47644956
You can pivot as many times as you want anywhere during your move (including before you move) as long as *no part of your base* is further from where it started than 12"

so yes, you can rotate then move straight in that direction, but you lose the distance the long end of your base rotate on your move.
>>
>>47644918
The intent was to stop cheeky fuckers with long bases from abusing their models' dimensions to move further than they can. If I remember correctly the exact wording is that no individual part of the model can move further than the model's listed movement. You CAN pivot at any point but your movement is made relative to the position of your model before it moved, including facing. So if you had a Knight that was facing forwards and tried to move it so it was facing right, the MODEL would have to move less than 12" so that the left edge of its base moved no more than a total of 12".
>>
>>47644879
It's pretty easy to throw a CAD together with some Nurglings and a Herald to grant you access to stuff outside the giant formations.

>>47644938
Yes, if you don't want Ravenwing and Deathwing models and just want Grav and fugly ass centurions, just go SM. All your basic models are WYSIWYG for their codex brethren anyways, so there's nothing really preventing you from switching between the two.

>>
>>47645030
As long as everything in your army is from a formation or CAD the army is battleforged and A-OK. You can completely have a CAD of Scions with allied Guard CAD or formations. >>
>>47645073
I realized I didn't specify that properly after I'd hot post. That said, since a flyer starts the game in reserve, you can't put anything but same-codex units in it without awkwardly wasting about three turns bringing it on, hovering and embarking then zooming away.

And for a unit as fragile as Wyrdvanes they aren't going to last very long sitting next to a box if your opponent happens to get the first turn.

Formations and formations are legal

Formations and detachments are legal

Detachments and detachments are legal

Unbound and formations are legal (but frowned upon)

Unbound is legal (but frowned upon.)

Detachments and unbound is ILLEGAL

Unbound is still legal by the 40k rulebook. That doesn't make it any more acceptable to players that don't want to deal with unbound.

Unbound plus formations (or formations plus unbound, before you argue the semantics) is just as legal as pure unbound.

>>47645273
Unbound is what your army becomes if you have any units in it that don't belong to a formation or CAD. You can remain battleforged (bound) as long as you don't just take random units that aren't a part of either of those.

But formations are detachments

Read the rules.
>>
>>47645346
They are a special type of detachments, the name difference is primarily because of what I posted. Formations are generally smaller and are legal with unbound while detachments are usually an entire army and are not legal with unbound
