Welcome everyone, new and old players alike! This is Tundra civ, a civ thread series in a fictional, non-fantasy setting where you play as the rulers of the White Republic, a nation in a world similar to our own.

Previously on Tundra civ:
The leaders of the mysterious Organisation - the Four Spirelords - are no longer in hiding. They have unleashed the power of their ancient technologies against the nations of our world. With armies of automatons they emerged from the depths, declaring war on all who oppose them. Now, over half a year later, they have established themselves on the territory of the New Pajit Union - they've set up massive factories and have put the locals to toil in the fields, mines and assemblies to support the growing metal armies and their armored masters.
The Spirelords have now launched an invasion on one of our largest cities, Victory - underneath it lies one of their coveted Vaults. With a large part of our forces away in Ocras, the situation seems dire as Victory is under attack by land, sea and air.
Pre-war stats:

The Spirelords would be hard-pressed to occupy Victory - its metropolitan area has a population of over 3 million and half as much live in the surrounding suburbs and towns. Their goal is to break through our defences as quickly as possible and seize the contents of the Vault, whose Key they hold.

Here's my suggestion to fight off them or at least stop them from taking the Vault.

Barricade everything, make it as hard as possible and take as long as possible to get to the vault, and then we basically hold a Stalingrad in Victory City. Our elite forces shall sneak onto anything that looks like a Flagship, and destroy it, and killing a spirelord if it is there, and taking the key.

Up to a million militiamen can fight to defend Victory, one of our most well-fortified cities, but the enemy has us beat hard on quality. The ships they've deployed wouldn't be able to match our Grand Fleet, but most of our naval forces are engaged in Ocras, along with a large part of our best men, our airforces and armored support. The defenders of Victory won't be able to call upon muc in terms of armor, but there is one other option available - in a secret military facility in the steppes we have at our disposal two operational atomic bombs with blast yields estimated at 20 kilotons of TNT each.
At this moment most of the enemy forces are loaded onto naval and aerial transports - a part of their vanguard has already disembarked. It is believed that if we were to use the bombs now at the enemy's main fleet the blast radius would at most affect only a small part of the coastal settlements around Oldranger Port.
We are sending as many forces as we can to Victory right now. The President must make an important choice.
A.The defenders of Victory will do their job - evacuate noncombatant civilians and use all conventional means we have to defend the city

We're in a stalemate and could use more players to make this important decision, so I'll post the other war maps.
The NPU was steamrolled quikcly by the Spirelords - after the Great War, the Union was disarmed and since then they've abided by the peace terms, which led to an improvement in relationships and even a return of parts of their former territories a short time ago, but with almost no armed defences it was the first part of the world to fall and with its large population it has been set up as the Spirelords' main manufacturing center, churning out new automatons evey day. Not all enemy forces are machines - their field leaders are humans wielding powerful armor and weapons, sometimes commanding tough vehicles. Those who would submit and are deemed worthy may join the ranks of the Spirelord army and gain power for themselves.
The enemy has also hit the Sunset Alliance hard, taking the region around the vital city of Yi Sen Shi. including some of our own mining towns. Fights across Eyerdar haven't stopped in the past months, for the most part it's been a back and forth between the two sides and the continent has seen a lot of fighting - not so many major battles, but rather incessant skirmishes.

The enemy seized the rich Valley of the Heart in Veita early on in the war. We organized a major counter-offensive which ultimately failed and since then our forces have been on the defensive.
The Spirelords haven't been able to secure access to the ocean at least, which has limited their transportational abilities to the underground networks they still have left, but that has also led to them entrenching the Valley and building factories there. The darkskins of Veita easily submitted to the rule of the Spirelords, the strongest of them having joined the enemy's ranks.

Our best forces are deployed in Ocras, as Operation Badlands is undergoing. The enemy occupied the mineral-rich territories of this continent's aird and cold lands in order to secure strategic resources for themselves and to deprive us of a large portion of our titanium deposits - a key material for the latest generation of military-use alloys.
The Operation has so far been successful, but the enemy has used that to strike at Victory.

if the robots are dropped in by navy it means they aren't amphibious!
Which mean water will kill them or force them to hide in the upper parts of buildings!, flooding the vaults entrace will also protect it if they have no navy after the A bomb!

The only reliable method of delivery we have is by aircraft - all available airforces are being deployed for this mission. Success is not guaranteed and losses will almost certainly be heavy - the enemy has air support and their fighters are faster and stronger than our best, top of the line jet fighters.
The fighters and decoy bombers have taken off, among them one is carrying "Steppe Wolf", the first a-bomb we'll be deploying in war.

Our airforces didn't stand a chance. The enemy has at least as many fighters as us and in the process of this operation we lost over 80% of our planes. The bomber carrying the package was shot down, but we had accounted for this and had safety measures in place to prevent accidental detonations of the bomb - it was an extremely close call and if the engineers aboard the plane had been a few seconds late it could've gone off above the city.
That's the only thing we can be glad about, though. Now we've completely lost our air presence and the fight will be fought in the streets.

What the general public knows is that the enemies we've been fighting for the last century - radical anarchists, socialists and communists - have banded together and created machine armies and advanced weaponry to conquer the world. The existence of the Organization, the Vaults, the fact that this is ancient technology they are using and that we are now deploying our second nuclear bomb near the Vault if all else fails - most people are unaware of these things. They believe that the enemy is here to kill or enslave them and our people will fight hard to stop that. Victory is no provincial mining town, it is one of the world's oldest and greatest cities and it will not fall without a fight!
We are transferring most of our air wings from Ocras to Aymsland now, but Operation Badlands will continue as autumn continues.

The public morale isn't doing all that well and we're starting to experience some resource shortages - thankfully that will be alleviated as Operation Badlands has reached a successful conclusion. We lost a lot of men retaking Ocras, but its resources are vital to the war effort. We are redeploying as many forces as we can to help Victory, where the situation is dire - Settler's Hope and Oldranger Port have fallen and the enemy has now reached the city's streets where we must fight them for every house, factory,hospital and school.
It is day 13 of the Battle of Victory City - air support has arrived and other reinforcements are on the way. The enemy is in the hundreds of thousands - this will be the largest military engagement in our history to this day.
Roll twice for us and then twice for the enemy, gentlemen! And roll out the battle music.

The fighting is heavy and the casualties are in the tens of thousands daily.
The enemy is pushing forward into the western industrial areas. Many in the militia are fighting with old weapons, some of them aren't really able to punch through the armor of enemy automatons, but at least it's something.

Naval reinforcements are expected very soon, at least and they're bringing combat-hardened veterans and armored support. Aerial support has prevented the enemy from being too bold with their flying gunship attacks.

The fleet took a bit longer than expected, but that was worth it - they were regrouping at Shale and expecting new additions - 2 new aircraft carriers were launched from the grand shipyards of Coasttown, decks full of the latest jet fighters. Our fleet has hit the enemy hard, inflicting heavy losses - their ships are tough and have considerable firepower, they have submarines and their fighters are hard to deal with, but their numbers aren't too great. The two navies are now locked in combat and for once things are looking good for us! We've been able to retake the skies over Victory and the reinforcements we've recieved are a lifesaver. We've started pushing the enemy back and the men's morale is raised significantly!

The weather is getting colder as autumn is gone and the year is almost at its end, yet the battle does not stop. One of the biggest advantage the enemy has is that their machines do not get tired and can fight as long as they are operational. The battle has claimed the lives of over 300 000 of our men so far - lives seem cheap in this war as tanks and airplanes are vital targets that need to be kept operational for our forces to stand a chance.

With a front so close by, reinforcements from Aymsland are quick to arrive. Factories are churning tanks, rockets and fighters out every day. Our advantage is in logistics and numbers as our navy is making it hard for the enemy to bring reinforcements. In Oldranger's Port, one of our humbler Wonders - the statue of the Old Ranger -has been demolished. The enemy has built fortifications and assembly yards and is forcing the locals to work for them. The Spirelords have advanced capabilities in recycling and reusing material - partially destroyed automatons can be brought back to working order with some repairs.
The Sunset Alliance and Kaichou Empire are sending armored forces to reinforce our positions. They themselves are fighting hard in the war in Eyerdar to halt the enemy's advance there.
There is little time for our men to celebrate Winter Solstice and New Year's Eve of 1197 AE as the enemy never sleeps. The fight goes on.

Though this isn't the tundra and the oceans make it more bearable, winter can still be harsh in this part of the world for those who are not used to it - not to our brave fighting men, of course. The automatons don't feel the cold, but snows can slow them down as much as any man. Winter will soon end and spring will bring about much bloodshed, for this battle rages on.

Allied reinforcements have arrived, tipping the scale of the battle in our favour. The tech our chink friends are sending is stuff that was considered the norm a mere three years ago, but compared to the conditions of this modern war their tanks are outdated - nevertheless, all help is welcome and appreciated. We've pushed the enemy out of the metropolitan area, we are fighting to retake Settler's Hope before we can mount an assault on the enemy's base on the western shores.

Operation Badlands is a success and we have retaken much of Ocras back from the enemy. However the Spirelords have used this opportunity to launch an invasion of Bictory city in an attempt to seize contents of the vault that lays underneath. its been heavy fighting and not to tote my own horn but I have saved us from total defeat several times. We're fightig the battle for Victory City. We tried to drop the A-Bomb, but our air wings were decimated - at least it didn't detonate over our cities. The enemy tried to seize the Vault under Victory quickly, but we've halted their advance with the weight of millions of bodies and billions of bullets. We are close to defeating the enemy now!

A glorious and hard-won victory, my comrades!
After almost half a year of fighting, the Battle of Victory is over! The enemy was pushed back to the sea and shamelessly retreated with what forces they had - mostly the human soldiers and officers, as the automatons were sacrificed to cover their retreat. The battle is won and the enemy was prevented from accessing the Vault!
In total, our casualties account to 764 000 dead, 115 000 missing and 725 000 wounded - hopefully most will recover.
We lost 1300 tanks - a large part of them being the SA's - and 1400 combat aircraft.
The enemy lost over 400 000 automatons and armored soldiers and 4000 combat vehicles.

It is now late spring of 1197.
Ocras and Aymsland are secure, but what of the other fronts?
Give me one roll for Eyerdar and one for Veita - what has happened in the meanwhile?

The enemy's advance towards the sea in Veita has been halted by joint kaichou-white forces. The Spirelords still occupy the Valley of the Heart and the fight there continues, but they have suffered casualties in their efforts.
In Eyerdar, the situation is becoming more desperate. The enemy has unified their two occupied areas, cutting off our remnants in the Northwest. Skirmishes and smaller battles continue across plains, forests, hills, jungles and mountains on the continent.
What shall our next global plan of action be?

Relative to their territory, Veita and Ocras are both very rich in all sorts of minerals and fossil fuels - the most titanium can be found on Ocras, while Veita has the largest bauxite ores, needed for the production of aluminium.

Eyerdar is mostly defended by the locals, since we needed the professional troops elsewhere.

The advance has begun. After some skirmishes our forces have made some gains in the north. The enemy sent a force to repel us, which led to a bloody battle with no clear tactical victor, but that let off pressure on the southern front, allowing our men to push north of New Peacetrek and Junsport. The southern forces are now engaging the enemy in Gazdun - a major petroleum industry center.
We must keep the pressure on the enemy from all sides in order to succeed. Again, 3 rolls and the average is our result.

Gazdun has been retaken along with the rest of the desert territories - we are now closing in on the Valley from all sides.
Operation Dustwater shall now commence! 1 200 000 men, 1500 tanks and 900 airplanes have been deployed. Command is shared by the generals Malhus and Yargis for our forces and General Jinkube for the Kaichou.
We expect heavy enemy resistance here.

Those missiles were experimental tech - evidently unfinished, rushed production. We lost a lot of planes and the enemy's gained ground.
Both sides have suffered a lot of casualties by this point and the operation has been dragging off for too long. This will now be decided by a final roll - two for us and two for them.
