He talked about in /fog/ that he wanted to introduce crafting systems based off his blacksmithing game, with endgame weapons requiring the player to do stuff like use alteration to direct lava flows into some magic forge and stuff. That sounds dwemer, which sounds like Hammerfell.

>Eat three meals a day, and carry utensils and cooking supplies, as well as a pillow or two.
>Close doors behind me, especially if I'm trying to sneak in someplace and want to make it seem like nobody's been there.
>Loot the dungeon only after every enemy has been cleared.
>Have days where you don't go on an adventure. Maybe it's rainy and not important yet.

>Waterwalk over puddles, or walk around them instead of getting gross for no reason.
>Occasionally bathe.
>Only use a potion or two per battle, and when I have enough space between the challenger and I.

I do this very often, in pretty much all the games. It makes me feel more involved with my character's journey.

Well its hard to have a concise account of what happens through someones biased perception in a lore book.
Even In-game lore is questionable sometimes due to limitations. (cities with 30 people in them, you know what I mean)
Even if you don't like MK he writes alot of the more interesting lore that alot of times gets scrapped for the LOTR-esque in-game.
>>

Oblivion was really more on the LOTR side because the LOTR movies came out and lots of people at Bethesda were still excited about it.mthe books might be less hot shit today, but a lot of the old nerds at Bethesda grew up wih the books for sure.

Could be. It would be a nice fit with the word "Hoar".
Obviously it could mean hoar as in grey haired, wisdom from your elders and Clever Men. So maybe the Hoar Father is winter, and "living through" winter(s) is comparable to saying "a long life as taught me".
I find it kind of fun, because it reminds me of a expression we have in Norwegian. Saying that "I've been out a winter night before" can be used to say you have some experience. You've done this before, or you have done a lot of things and gotten some life experience.

I imagine they can also make teas out of insects and mushrooms.

And there's also guar 'milk'.

>>47627428
I assume they're not too bitter because they are used in baked goods and wine. Perhaps they taste similar to cranberries.

Hackle-Lo or more like a collard green, from what I recall. Be more like drinking spinach juice.

As for Corkbulb, that's more related to trees. I'm not sure if tree roots make good teas or not.
>>47627352
I'd imagine imported things like actual tea, or maybe milk and mead in the places around Skyrim.
It's fairly realistic for them to not have as much variety, since most places tend to have limited amounts of things that aren't from another place. In the US, for example, if you went on solely native food, you'd just have venison, buffalo, corn, potatoes, okra, squash, all depending on the region, but with trade we have things like coffee and bananas. Which is part of the reason the Empire is actually a good thing.

In Skyrim, Nords, if you count elders, make up over half the populations, with the next highest two being Bretons and Imperials at 10%.

I'm sure water would also have to do with where you live. Sure, it's a "poor man's" drink in a sense, but there's no problems drinking it in most rural places. But in cities, where sanitation is worse, drinking water is much more likely to make you sick.

The factions are indeed stupid, but pointing out the inconsistencies with the lore will have a hoard of fanboys trying to scream you down. Someone in Bethesda has to think the Argonian-Dunmer-Nord alliance is fucking retarded, hell look in real life where you have Dindus still embittered over their ancestors having to do a little decent work. Those feelings of bitterness from centuries of ethic warfare and race slavery don't just evaporate overnight no matter how much Tumblr would like to think otherwise.

Only one that I don't like is assassinations in your sleep, and maybe the dragon apocalypse thing because that puts a time limit on your sandbox.

I would love to have to treat enemy factions like enemy factions when I chose to do the Civil War quest, and I'd love to find a way to make food and taverns meaningful. I don't even sleep in Skyrim, did you know that? I don't need to for leveling up or anything. I just wait somewhere until it's day.

Honestly? I think they are. Bretons have probably done a bit more mixing with the Redguards and Imperials, while Nords are content to stay more or less isolated.

Historically speaking, Bretons and Redguards have been bending Orc's over more than any other race.

Nords also threw a pretty good curse at them.

What does that have to do with their skin color? Even if that were true the Nords would have just as much Imperial mixing, and since I'd imagine Bretons would tend to be the fathers and the Redguards mothers, the children would be Redguards.

Here, I'll post the official picture of a Breton, and then one of a Nord.

I think it probably only came about because of geographical location. And taking into account the Daggerfall alliance, I forget what it's really called, and the Dominion, the Ebonheart pact is the only group of three left to have. Doesn't mean it's not stupid, it is, but having an alliance split on either side of a continent is stupid too, so I can only assume it was the lesser of two evils as far as the devs were concerned.
I'd rather the game not exist but I suppose it's not as bad as Swtor.

Vivec is surrounded by salt water. Can't drink it, so dumping sewage isn't much of an issue; makes the gondoliers life interesting is all.

Those fountains are most likely either from springs underground, or magically conjured/purified water.

Remember this city has an altar that grants people the power of flight for what amounts to a 5gp donation, and a bound demon that initiates people into the Temple. Water purification is trivial.

(I suspect it was a delayed follow up to the Nerevarine's destruction of the Heart. Maybe the Skyrim-era time fuckery "deleted" Lorkhan for a few years, and then respawned him. Once Vvardenfell becomes semi-habitable again, archaeologists are going to find the Heart humming away in the ruins of the Balmora Mages Guild, dangerous as ever.)

Mournhold is an island with an infinite ocean surrounding it. If you manage to scale the walls of the Imperial city, there's nothing on the other side but bare dirt and prop buildings. I've heard rumors the other cities in Cyrodil are the same.

They're demiplanes now, each it's own tiny little world. The Mages guild put stable Oblivion gates on each of the entrances, to hide this from the populace. Then they invented bullshit reasons to ban levitation and recall, so no one would ever find out.

Open your eyes, sheeple: The Oblivion crisis is over. The Daedra won.

>Mark and recall is one where it’s a lot of fun, but like levitation, was removed so we could design better gameplay spaces and scenarios. We were really limited in Morrowind because the player could recall or levitate out of many situations and break them. There was a lot of good gameplay and level design work that we just couldn’t do and now we can. Back then it seemed like many good ideas we had were shot down when another designer would say “oh yeah, I just levitate or recall away.” So we got rid of them.
