[Roaches say something funny] is about how funny I find them these days. Maybe I just have shit sense of humor, but as I see it:
-they don't work as a running gag. To do that they'd have to either appear silently, or say similar things each time, rather than speak at length attempting to be badly topical.
-they don't work as a sight gag. There's nothing funny about their looks.
-they don't work as bonus comedians. Their jokes aren't funny, just stupid.
-they don't work as funny background events, since they're not in the damn background, they've got dedicated panels.
So it ends up like that player incessantly quoting Monty Python at the table: shut up, we've heard the jokes a million times, they weren't funny yesterday, they're not funny today, they don't become funny because you're telling them right after the DM said swallow/coconut/other word appearing in Monty Python skit.
