Given the long-term threat of the Tyranids, to say nothing of the Necrons, Orks and Chaos, why don't the Eldar and Imperium put their differences aside and form an alliance?
Or hell, even include the Tau?
Battling over the shitty little planets and sectors they stay at each others' throats for seems suicidal in the face of multiple Tyranid hive fleets bearing down on the galaxy.

The Eldar ain't saints and suffer not the alien to live.
Maybe the Nids will change it, fuck it, in the face of the nids i feel like they could maybe even convince the Orks to go after the "stabby gitz", but that's then and this is now.

Generally, the Eldar believe the Humans are them in reverse, where the Eldar gods had a steady incline to a fast death, to the GEoM having a massive start and now a slow decay. They're more or less thinking along the lines that Humans are (relatively) soon to end, and that they'll last longer on their own. They also think of the Tau and Humans as little more than meddlesome children.
Humans, on the other hand, have the exact opposite view, thinking they're soon to be rulers of the galaxy, and that xenos 'helping' them would just be acts of begging for mercy.
Tau are even more hardcore than both on this matter, as humans and Eldar tend to look down on the Greater Good.

Ever play Dawn of War Winter Assault? Pretty much that. Eldar are massive condescending dicks and rarely explain what the hell they're doing because "YOU'RE TOO PRIMITIVE TO UNDERSTAND". The Imperium on the other hand is paranoid of everything that isn't pure human. It pretty much throws that chances of working together out the window.
As for the Tau, the Imperium isn't exactly happy that they're taking over forge worlds. I mean the Tau are the reason they can't make Leman Russ Vanquishers in large numbers anymore. The Eldar may be massive dicks but the Tau are slow chipping away at the Imperium and causing actual long term damage.

The Tau would be happy with this,
but only on their very demanding terms.
Beyond that the IoM and the Tau are both extremely stubborn.
And have absolutely no respect for eachother's culture.
Also, the Tau are small time nobodies.
They're a representation of the typical fledging xeno faction.
Of which there are many. Each more futile than the last.
In the long term, maybe. The End of Times will likely take centuries.
That well timed warp storm protected the early Tau because the Eldar gave up on the Imperium after the Emperor was neutralized and due to the new imperium helping chaos grow. So the Eldar cultivated the Tau in hopes of taking over the imperium in power over time through subversion and manipulations over thousands of years.

The Imperium founded itself on xenophobia. The Great Crusade saw the destruction of many craftworlds. Eldar are understandably wary of dealing with the guys that have 'SUFFER NOT THE ALIEN TO LIVE' as one of their holy tenets. When communicating with the Imperium is as likely to get you killed for no reason as it is to result in an alliance, it's better not to tell them jack shit and just manipulate them into fighting shit for you.

For some reason, Gamagoori as an Arco-Flagellant makes perfect sense.
The tau aren't going to be of even a little help except for a short term snack bar to keep the Tyranid occupied. They pose no real threat beyond being a nuisance, and the only reason they're not just another notch on the ole genocide belt is because the Imperuim has more pressing issues.

And also because the Imperium's ultimate goal of "XENOS AND CHAOS OUT OF MY GALAXY REEEEEEEEEEE" conflicts with the Eldar goal of "wait until our collected souls merge into one big superbeing, then go back to constantly boning"
