way too fucking broken

wizards never knows what the fuck they're doing
>>
>>47482380
It's not that broken. It requires getting it into your graveyard for any sort of benefit.
>>
>>47482474
But in standard, this card would destroy the meta.
>>
>>47482474

Every color has ways of getting shit into the gy, the full 10 cycle would be far too easy to abuse.

You meant to post Krosan Verge, which does deserve a full cycle.

Very true, why haven't they done that then?

dude that's like the easiest thing ever

i mean you have a maximum hand size for fuck's sake

this land should never ever enter the battlefield
>>

They forgot it exists
>>
>>47482550

no, they push shit like evolving wilds to make expensive fetch lands look really good by comparison

Mass spam it to MaRo's twitter desu. In fact, do both cards until he caves.

>It requires getting it into your graveyard for any sort of benefit.
Which is incredibly easy to do. Fuck, if you have it in your opening hand you can just pass the turn and discard it
>>
>>47482685
That requires you to be on the draw and pass your first turn in its entirety, including dropping a land which would put you a turn behind your opponent for the whole game.
>>
A cycle of this in standard would turn on so many color combinations.

Lightning Axe springs to mind right away.

The land he posted gets 2 lands, not 1.

Still not strictly better, as it's basically ramp

Jesus, all it does is fix your colors.
>>
We will, they'll just be printed at rare and only does the extra color effect for one specific type. Then we'll only get one each set for the next five so their prices artificially rise for no good reason.
>>
Why would this destroy standard? Cool, you now have access to more colors after you put this land into your GY. now what?
>>
>>47488277
Only way I could see this being nasty is using a card that has you discard, pitching the land and then making every land you have a dual, tri, or quad land
>>
>>47482498
Fucking standardfags always ruin everything for everyone else.

THEN RAISE THE POWER OF STANDARD HOLY SHIT WHAT A KEK FORMAT
>>
>>47482525
You also need to play cards to win
>>
>>47490464
That's not even a big deal jesus. You go down one card so that you can fix you colors.
>>
>>47492921
>That's not even a big deal
Yes it fucking well is. There's a thousand ways to fix colors out there already that don't even open the possibility of basic lands tapping for three colors.

For fuck's sake, playing more than two colors NEEDS to be increasingly clunky otherwise you can just cherrypick the best from each. A deck with full access to green's creatures, white's protection, and nothing but 4 OP and islands for land is bullshit.
>>
>>47493083
>he thinks mana bases for 3+ color decks are clunky

Negro have you played against any 3 color decks in a format with fetches and duals?
>>
>>47493307
>Negro have you played against any 3 color decks in a format with fetches and duals?

They are when you can pack Wastelands.
>>
>>47493083
Lemme put it to you this way. You have to either...

>Discard the card, which puts you down a card and is one of the worst things you can do in magic.
>Mill it off the top, which is full of variance and requires a lot of work. It also won't get you your colors till usually about turn 3 or 4, when it matters even less.
>Put it into play and sac it. This is the best option, because there are ways you can get value out of saccing a land, but you're still down a card and have to have a two card combo of a sac outlet and the land.

All of these are incredibly clunky ways to get, in your words, a solid bant manabase. All of them are way clunkier than a etb tapped triland, which we just had. We just had a standard that was built around 4 color mana bases using fetchlands which are not OP, even so I don't think these would enable those kinds of mana bases because of the hoops you have to jump through.

The only place riftstone portal is played is as a one of in legacy lands so you can tap maze of ith and dark depths for mana. That's a deck entirely based on getting lands into the graveyard and using life from the loam as an engine to get them back. I don't think a deck like that will ever be possible in standard.

lands that have that sort of effect for 1 color at a time could be fun, tho. kinda like the tomb of yawg, but working from the graveyard.

>discard the card for some positive effect
IDK, vryn's prodigy? mox diamond? it's full of effects that will throw it in the bin for profit, don't try to make it look like it's hard.
>>
>>47493390
Dude you're not "down a card" you're putting the card in the graveyard for a positive effect. That's the same shit that happens when you play instants and sorcerys You're basically just playing an enchantment except it's in the graveyard instead of the battlefield. Do you complain that you're "down a card" when you play lightning bolt to kill a creature? And it's not like it's all that hard to pull off. Make a deck with some discard or mill effects, 4 Riftstone Portals, some fetches, and a bunch of whatever single basic land you want and boom you've got a WGX deck that's immune to most ways of shutting down tri-color manabases.
>>
>>47493771
You don't impact the board when you discard this, though, your lightning bolt comparison is bad. Plus the graveyard is hardly a safe zone, scooze and relic shit all over the several deck slots you've dedicated to this shit mana fixing.
>>
>>47493771
Wow.

/tg/ has somehow found a way to get worse at magic.
>>
>>47493771

Killing a creature and fixing mana are not equivalent in value. I was mostly talking about standard. Guess what, there's already an enchantment that does what you're talking about and it sees little play too, prismatic omen. People use it for combo potential anyway, not mana fixing. You seem to think that mana fixing is some kind of be all end all of magic, but it really isn't. Why do you think a manabase that requires you to spend your early turns jumping through hoops with two card combos and gets disrupted by gravehate is good?
>>
There will be a point in standard that Basic Lands will broke the meta so hard that Maro will design a fixed version of them.

Balanced Mountain
Basic Land - Mountain

~ enters the battlefield tapped.

{T}: add {R} to your mana pool.

That way, standard games will be slowed down giving both players time to develop their strategy.
>>
>>47494164

Don't forget the $50 mythic staple called Normal Mountain.

Normal Mountain
Land
~ enters tapped unless you pay 2 life
T: add R to your mama pool
>>
>>47490464
T1 magmatic insight would do the trick, as long as you go first.
>>

Fuuuuck. Reminds me when an opponent was playing a jank 5-color deck with this in it. He played prismatic T2 and then played Last Stand T5. It's like those cards were made for each other.
>>
>>47495190
Fuck, I wish last stand was modern legal. That looks like it could be lots of fun.

Actually, MaRo said he wants to do that cycle before he retires.
>>
>>47493390
>What is looting : the post
>>
>>47492395
>JUST LIKE RAISE THE POWER LEVEL
That happened once and all that happened was everyone running four colors with all the good cards to tap.

If a cycle of what OP posted was made in Standard, people would be running five color good stuff, because every land being enabled to tap for whatever would be way too fucking degenerate. It would need some sort of counter in order to keep it in check, otherwise the meta would just become worse than it is now.
>>
>>47495465
I hope it's soon. Mostly the retirement part, but the cards would be nice too.
>>
>>47496570
>It would need some sort of counter in order to keep it in check, otherwise the meta would just become worse than it is now.
Just print some cheap, colorless grave hate. Relic of Progenitus or something of similarly low impact would do the trick.
>>
hell you could even print land distinction for lands that tap for more than one color of mana. Red needs it, it could work in white and green. as long as you never make it one sided you are golden.
>>
People keep insisting it would destroy formats but if it was ever printed as a cycle it could (and most likely will) just be part of a supplemental set like conspiracy or commander
>>
>>47493390
>Discard the card, which puts you down a card and is one of the worst things you can do in magic.

I know /tg/ is horrible at magic, but I feel like posts like this are just bait.

Ok then if it's broken how do we fix it?
What would a cycle of graveyard lands look like?
>>

>your mama pool
I must be losing my mind to laugh at that.
>>
>>47493390
>Put it into play and sac it. This is the best option, because there are ways you can get value out of saccing a land

You are just terribad at magic.
Sacing a land puts you a turn behind on your mana and is FAR worse than discarding a card.

Also, saying this card is bad/slow is like saying Myr Enforcer is bad. It's bad tossing it into some rando deck. But in a deck built for discard it's huge.
This card was insane when it came out because it came out in a block with Discard and Madness. You'd discard it T2 to a wild mongrel to get +1/+1 and slam your opponent with a 4/4 hasted creature that also just fixed your RGW mana base. OR run it with Careful study to pay the discard and draw 2 cards at the cost of 1 and suddenly that island is able to produce WUG.
If a cycle of these came out tomorrow they'd be run alongside Jace Prodigy or ravenous bloodseeker and would break the format
>>
>>47500893
...myr enforcer IS bad. Just like this card is bad. If these cards are good then why are they not played anywhere anymore? Why was their only relevancy in the lowest power constructed format?

Not the same guy but fuck I totally forgot that clues were artifacts. I wonder if Disciple+Ravager combo can be done again in Modern with this and Hangarbacks.
>>
>>47500509
you have them add just 1 color.
you could even go with a land that taps for colored mana, but then goes to the gy, and from there lets other lands tap for her color.
>>
>>47492458
You don't.
