Check MERP. They have some good ideas and the stuff from Iron Crown Enterprises is well researched.
But the short form, nothing much other then being an area that the Witch-King was driven from. Probably still quite darksome with wandering trolls and goblins. Perhaps even a lesser drake or two. Nothing that could be of use to Sauron, otherwise he would have mobilized it during the War.
