Gimli was already the ur-dwarf. Your stereotypical dnd dwarf has always been an axe wielding warrior who's pigheaded and touchy but unfailingly loyal.

What Jackson's Fellowship contributed is that overnight all dwarves became Scottish.
>>

Gimli predates DnD, son.

It was the fetish-fags extrapolating from a section where they mentioned that kobolds are vermin who eat anything possible and have no gag-reflex to fit more stuff in their mouth, and then several lines later talk about them doing anything to please their Draconic lords.
>>
>>47260405
Not disbelieving you, but I'd really like a screen cap so I can be even more glad I don't play D&D anymore.

>>
>>47260577
Not the other guy, but I'm looking for it now. Prior to 3e, no relation to dragons at all. 3.X has them speak Draconic, but no other relation. 4e has them revere dragons and form cults about them. 5e has similar.

The 'kobolds serving dragons' thing first appears in the 2e box set Dragon Mountain, where a red dragon has a bunch of kobold tribes fighting to be favoured by it, but that wasn't an 'all kobolds' thing until 4e.

Not even PF's Bestiary has them with no gag reflex, so it must come from some supplement somewhere.
>>
>>47260642
Getting deepthroated doesn't even feel good anyway. It's a little strange, and certainly not worth it.

You'd think a Dragon would want something better from their mortal servants.

>What did RPG nerds roleplay dwarves as BEFORE the Fellowship of the Ring movie came out and popularized Gimli as the ur-dwarf?
You've got it backwards, the depiction of Gimbli in the LotR movies is actually based off the typical RPG dwarf, rather than the other way around.

The typical RPG dwarf was in turn something of a distillation of the dwarf characters from all of Tolkein's fantasy stories, perhaps moreso the Hobbit than the LotR's novels. (Thorin is probably more the ur-dwarf than Gimbli, I believe.)

The movie version of Gimli is very much filtered through the popular sentiment of how a fantasy dwarf should look and act.

I don't know who the fuck you think you're talking to, but all the dwarves in D&D have been Gimli for like 40 years now. If somebody was somehow familiar with D&D but not with LoTR, they would have seen Gimli in the movie and said, "Look, a D&D dwarf".

I'd say it's about as old as civilization.

About 2000 years ago it became really popular.

Their love may be pure, but it lacks anon's greatest desire. Cocks.
>>

There is nothing pure about older women and girls preying on young boys. They lust after them to fulfill their sick desires.

Two boys lovingly embracing each other, however, is nothing but the purest love, even if they lewdly buttfuck each other later.

Blame Salvatore.
By my research, Bruenor Battlehammer is the Patient Zero for the Scottish-accented Dwarf. Flint Fireforge is probably the most notable dwarf character in DnD stuff prior to Bruenor, and he didn't have the accent.
(There may be another 'missing link' out there between Flint and Bruenor that I'm not aware of, but as far as I know, you can blame 'The Crystal Shard' for this shit.)

>These small, evil dog-like men usually live underground. They have scaly, rust-brown skin and no hair.
-Direct Quote from the Basic Boxed Set
Kobolds have been described with both lizard and dog traits since long before we gave a crap about Japan, anon.
It was later (bad) writers who decided that they needed to be simplified into tinier lizard-men. For some fucking reason.

Hmm, good point. Hey, Wiki! What you got to say about Kobolds?
>The kobold (occasionally cobold) is a sprite stemming from Germanic mythology and surviving into modern times in German folklore.
>Although usually invisible, a kobold can materialize in the form of an animal, fire, a human being, and a candle. The most common depictions of kobolds show them as humanlike figures the size of small children. Kobolds who live in human homes wear the clothing of peasants; those who live in mines are hunched and ugly; and kobolds who live on ships smoke pipes and wear sailor clothing.
Hmm, you don't say. So, they're still not fucking lizard men? Good to know.

Maybe it's because I have a tiny dick (not even quite 5"), but it feels pretty good especially in a 69 position and she's cumming and moaning with your cock in her throat.
>>
>>47262528
I've heard that the Scottish dwarf accent comes form Paul Anderson's 'Three hearts and three lions,' though I've not yet read it myself.
>>
>>47265859
I read that book just a few months ago, and it does indeed feature a Scottish dwarf. (Not just a dwarf with a Scottish accent, but a dwarf of Scottish ancestry.)

It's also the origin of the regenerating Troll, and was likely an influence on the "holy avenger" style magic sword for paladins.
>>
>>47261448
>I'd say it's about as old as civilization.

The original four classes were Fighter (Gilgamesh), Barbarian (Enkidu), Cleric (Utnapishtim) and Whore (Shamhat).
>>
>>47260688
4e Kobolds were just core version of what Kobolds became during 3.X. 3.5 supplements are where the Kobolds as inherently draconic beings really took off.

This is true. 3.x gave them their current physical appearance, and then there were progressively more and more hints that they had some connection to dragons, and then the 'Races of the Dragon' supplement made it official. It's actually quite a good write up.
