It... I can see that, yeah. I didn't feel right making my jumper out to be some glorious "chosen one" or time-displaced past parent of the Benefactor or whatever. Everyone has gotten that particular niche down in lots of different forms and variations and angles, and it felt too gimmicky to follow that same route. I wanted to go with something a bit more straightforward. Which like you pointed out, was likely a contributor to the blandness of the story.

You can turn water into ice and then to steam, break up the H20 into two hydrogen atoms and an oxygen atom. The Avengers movies are definitely a go, but I'm going to stop Tony from making Ultron. So is Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm probably also going to be involved in Captain America 2 and 3. Agents of SHIELD is going to be my companions' thing, with me as an occasional guest star since I'm in their rolodex. Jessica Jones never happens because I kill the Purple Man within half an hour of my arrival in this universe.

Iji is a very good freeware platforming game (so check it out, since it's free, you won't regret it). It's a pseudo-Metroidvania, there are distinct levels but within each one there's a lot of free-form exploration and secrets. The plot is that aliens have invaded, and you're an experimental cyborg super-soldier built from reverse-engineered tech to defeat them. Unfortunately, you're just a kid not really cut out for being a supersoldier, so a big part of the plot is Iji coming to terms with the harsh new life she's been thrust into. Unusually, while it gives you a lot of awesome guns, it's quite possible to play it as a "Pacifist" (in quotations because using your reflector shield to bounce projectiles back at your opponents doesn't count as your kill), which changes the plot quite considerably.
