I found the Emperor's Children
So I've been thinking of giving my Admech forces some sort of shooty deathstar. The idea is a single squad that has enough firepower to wipe out entire units at long ranges in a single shooting phase. So my idea is this

The question is what weapons should I give them? Here were my ideas

The idea is sheer volume fire. 44 shots wound marines on a 2+, hit on a 2+, and except for the thrusters have deflagrate, preferred enemy means that before taking into account deflagrate you are killing 15 marines in 5+ cover within 48" of you. Against cataphractii terminators you are still slaughtering 8 a turn, and against militia you are liable to kill about 40ish on average after deflagrate, if they aren't in cover the casualties will probably be like 60 (didn't calculate that last one).

Much like the above but sacrificing volume fire for AP, can kill like 11 cataphractii a turn, can kill 16 marines in 5+ cover a turn. As an aside thanks to lance they can also fuck up damaged AV 14 vehicles if they don't have anything else to shoot at. 3.8 HP shot off an AV 14 vehicle a turn.

Put them in a tall building and laugh as you blow up everything that doesn't try to close in on your army with conversion beamers. 11 str 10 blasts will erase entire units with ease
Either way all of these units will cost in the neighborhood of 660-760 before including the Myrmidax so it is hardly competitive and I will only use it at 3000 points and maybe 2500 points.

You could always tone it down to 5 Myrmidon Destructors, which would further mean anti-infantry would be easier than anti-vehicle. Unless you gave them Conversion Beamers. Everything ever dies to S10 AP1. As long as you can get far away enough, that is.

If you want a cost efficient solution buy the regular power armour sized combi weps then put smol magnets in the cataphracts hands and paper clips on the stock of the bolter where the grip is so they attract to the magnets in the hands

Personally I used 40k terminator storm bolters, cut the muzzle in half and added a melta or a Calth plasma pistol muzzle to the front for combi-plasmas and meltas. Flamers could be done with, say, hand flamer muzzles. Grenade launchers with, say, a grenade launcher muzzle or just sticking a little rocket looking thing (such as an IG mortar) into one of the muzzles as a rifle-grenade style thing.

Their LA rule gives them:
-Scavenged weapons (cheaper weapon upgrades with Gets Hot to justify lower cost),
-Legendary items (think CSM Chaos Boon table applied to weapons and armor but actually good),
-"Conservative Marksmen" (rapid fire weapons become Assault 1, but get Precision Shots against targets within half max range).

Such a thing seems a bit silly at first, but I can see how it could be good for a unit that expects to engage enemies at rapidly varying ranges; the bolters act as the general workhorse, and the Volkites are used against a close-range blob, maybe even before someone charges.

As for the Land Raider or Vindicator bit, all it takes is two drop pods with melta to at the very least stall both. I would drop the Vindicator to give one Dread a special dreads drop pod. That way it is a turn one threat that 1)they have to respond to 2) is actually tough to kill (they have to blow the pod first). With savings you can bulk out the vets. Will give your land raider time to flat out into their face... right as terminators drop, the OTHER dread is lumbering into range. That's a lot of target overload (results against Tau and Eldar may vary)

I disagree, especially with IF sniper vets. PotL will mean you'll be outnumbered but never outgunned, your guys can threaten both monstrous creatures and terminators while not being weak to assaults, its a good all rounder type of army that can have quite the punch.
