Indeed. You require a little bit of autist to be fully loyal. Lacking that, a manly mane or a mongolian moustache can supplement loyalty.
What was the Lion's excuse, though?

>GW felt it ambiguous as to his true loyalties
His loyalties were never in any doubt, the only one to ever question them was Astelan and he was always obviously an arrogant insubordinate little shit.

The story was always that Lion and Russ were waylaid by many forces which delayed their return to Terra and that their imminent arrival was believed to be the reason Horus dropped his shields.

So I've been thinking of giving my Admech forces some sort of shooty deathstar. The idea is a single squad that has enough firepower to wipe out entire units at long ranges in a single shooting phase. So my idea is this
>Magos Prime Myrmidax with two weapons
>10 Myrmidon destructors all with the same weapons
The question is what weapons should I give them? Here were my ideas

>10 destructors with volkite culverins
>myrmidax with 2 photon thrusters (fuck I wish I could take two culverins)
The idea is sheer volume fire. 44 shots wound marines on a 2+, hit on a 2+, and except for the thrusters have deflagrate, preferred enemy means that before taking into account deflagrate you are killing 15 marines in 5+ cover within 48" of you. Against cataphractii terminators you are still slaughtering 8 a turn, and against militia you are liable to kill about 40ish on average after deflagrate, if they aren't in cover the casualties will probably be like 60 (didn't calculate that last one).

>10 destructors with photon thrusters
>myrmidax with 2 photon thrusters
Much like the above but sacrificing volume fire for AP, can kill like 11 cataphractii a turn, can kill 16 marines in 5+ cover a turn. As an aside thanks to lance they can also fuck up damaged AV 14 vehicles if they don't have anything else to shoot at. 3.8 HP shot off an AV 14 vehicle a turn.

>10 destructors with conversion beamers
>myrmidax with conversion beamer and photon thruster
Put them in a tall building and laugh as you blow up everything that doesn't try to close in on your army with conversion beamers. 11 str 10 blasts will erase entire units with ease

Either way all of these units will cost in the neighborhood of 660-760 before including the Myrmidax so it is hardly competitive and I will only use it at 3000 points and maybe 2500 points.

>Either way all of these units will cost in the neighborhood of 660-760 before including the Myrmidax
You could always tone it down to 5 Myrmidon Destructors, which would further mean anti-infantry would be easier than anti-vehicle. Unless you gave them Conversion Beamers. Everything ever dies to S10 AP1. As long as you can get far away enough, that is.
>>
>>47224703
I could always buy and assemble the ten and run them as two different units at times. Either way the main reason I am doing this is because I want a fun counter to stuff like 10 2 wound terminators with a praetor.

Is the Emperor's webway stuff in a book somewhere or is it just pieced together from codex fragments and wiki articles?

Even if they didn't have a map everyone in the galaxy knows where Terra is. It's the planet with the brilliant psychic light house, which I would have a hard time believe the eldar didn't know exactly where that was. Using seers would make it easy enough to find the way there, not to mention the greatest elf seer was alive at the time. That spirit stone nigger tried to stop the primarchs turning to chaos which is probelmatic enough, now imagine he knew they were trying to sneak into his races basement. Shit wouldn't fly.

Personally I used 40k terminator storm bolters, cut the muzzle in half and added a melta or a Calth plasma pistol muzzle to the front for combi-plasmas and meltas. Flamers could be done with, say, hand flamer muzzles. Grenade launchers with, say, a grenade launcher muzzle or just sticking a little rocket looking thing (such as an IG mortar) into one of the muzzles as a rifle-grenade style thing.

Just homebrew your own legions. My XIth legion is shamelessly based on Fallout 4, and I don't even fucking care.

Their LA rule gives them:
-Scavenged weapons (cheaper weapon upgrades with Gets Hot to justify lower cost),
-Legendary items (think CSM Chaos Boon table applied to weapons and armor but actually good),
-"Conservative Marksmen" (rapid fire weapons become Assault 1, but get Precision Shots against targets within half max range).

Unique gear includes Deathclaw Gauntlets and Fat Man Launchers.

At 1850 points you have 20 guys.
Half in power armor, which in 7th might as well be no armor.
Might as well upgrade to a Spartan. Land Raiders with no upgrades are a big target.
Buy a second Vindicator or drop it.

disagree, this is horus heresy where power armor stil counts for something. But for list building I'd recommend three larger squads over four small ones

Don't a lot of modern troops prefer to ride on top of their transports rather than inside, because that way they can try and shoot enemy RPG gunners and they don't risk getting trapped inside when the vehicle does get hit?

>That bolt pistol
JUST

cool conversion though
>>
>>47235571
That conversion is awesome what base model...
And yes you probably are one of the few who liked the first two. It says something when an author one writes a single book with BL... and the second one was so blah. It goes out of its way to tie into the fucking 40k series it's not even funny.
The only DA I have liked in 30k is some of the Thramas Crusade short stories- particularly Corswain.

So read the third line of his fucking post Chief.
Then get back to me

Thanks for the advice guys, I ended up saying fuck it and just went to 2k points so that I could fill up both Vet Tactical Squads. I would prefer a Spartan, but since I haven't worked much with resin yet I'm hesistant to drop 200 bucks and fuck it up somehow.

How effective is a deep striking suicide squad of combi-plasma cataphractii? I really love the models so I'm trying as hard as I can to keep them in the list. I have the vindicator in there so that an opponent is forced to focus either that or the LR (I know this won't work in higher points games but that's all I got for now)

Would you take out the Terminators and add more Vets? Or just fill out the Terminator squad?

>let's get some extra cover from RPGs from the outside of the tank gaiz

>that's all I got for now
Well, that's a problem, isn't it?

You just need more bodies IMHO. POTL with veterans isn't that great.
>>
>>47235934
What kind of bodies would you suggest? Phalanx Warders? Breachers? I really want to keep the Veterans, but if I dropped POTL and kept Sigismund (obviously because he's GOAT) the Templar Brethren would count as 1 troops choice and I can make a 20 man blob of...something.
>>
>>47235992
I like plain old tacticals a lot. They're the best fodder you can get.
>>
>>47235992
Can never go wrong throwing a few tacticals in your list.
>>
>>47235805
That's a really expensive suicide squad... and Sons of Horus do it much better.
As for the Land Raider or Vindicator bit, all it takes is two drop pods with melta to at the very least stall both. I would drop the Vindicator to give one Dread a special dreads drop pod. That way it is a turn one threat that 1)they have to respond to 2) is actually tough to kill (they have to blow the pod first). With savings you can bulk out the vets. Will give your land raider time to flat out into their face... right as terminators drop, the OTHER dread is lumbering into range. That's a lot of target overload (results against Tau and Eldar may vary)
>>
>>47235934
I disagree, especially with IF sniper vets. PotL will mean you'll be outnumbered but never outgunned, your guys can threaten both monstrous creatures and terminators while not being weak to assaults, its a good all rounder type of army that can have quite the punch.

Also buy dozer blades. For every vehicle.
