Well, that Memnarch reference indicates that Tamiyo has likely been to Mirrordin, at least. The story also indicates she may be aware of Phyrexia and the oil, or at least how Memnarch fell.
And damn, she straight-up ignored Jace's mind tricks. Not took time defending herself and girding her mind before engaging, not striking back, she just defied them. Either Jace is shit, which we know to be false, or Tamiyo is very, very talented.

I already love it. She manages to pull of the "centered in logic" part without turning into a caricature of Spock too, which is always tricky. Davidson actually managed to pull off a good story. Aside from her outright no-selling Jace's mental assault, which makes her seem a little too overpowered. If he'd written the mental equivalent of an effortlessly parried blow, it would have worked, but what he did write was more along the lines of taking a sword to the face and the sword shattering. I do love the story magic, though - it helps differentiate her from Jace. I've noticed they've been doing that with every Planeswalker we've seen, trying to specialize their magic. Might be why they killed off Elspeth - wielding a spear and leading an army is too close to their precious Gideon, and they needed to keep him special. Which is terrible.

She's accepting fate and refusing to interfere in what's occuring on a plane because its not her place. Everything has a time and place to die, and interfering is inappropriate. That's a very green attitude to nature expanded to the multiverse.
Add that with that fact that if we get a UG walker in EDM and every color would be represented among the planeswalkers twice (if we also assume a mono black lilli) and that when Tamiyo joins jace in duels and his deck becomes bant colored and I think UG Tamiyo is more likely than given credit for.

I mean, the whole point of Tamiyo is she observes and records, nothing more, nothing less. She's able to use the stories as a way to tap into the mana/spells of those planes, and if she's carrying around three "never use but will probably use in case of a true emergency" spells/scrolls she probably knows what they are and what they do.
So... What do you think the three spells/scrolls are?

That's why I think those scrolls are those three spells.
The first one due to it's connection to Serra's Realm, the second being one that's a general "nuke the plane, save the multiverse" spell, the last being so strong that she can't use it (because she'd risk dying afterwards is my guess).
My guess is she'd only use them in a truly dire emergency (like New Phyrexia's about to planeswalk to a new plane, running into Eldrazi, etc.). You know, actual multi-planar threats, not small time shit like the "natural" death of a plane.

It seems to me that, depending on the context and how they're interpreted, each story can result in different spells. So her story about Serra's Realm isn't necessarily going to cause a Cataclysm every time she reads it.

So this confirms that Myr are sentient and actually are thinking? And that they actually tell stories? They get cuter all the time.
The whole "Tiptoeing is illogical" thing and the "Several logical lines" worried me at the start, thought she was gonna go full Spock. But the rest was good.
I do like how they balanced her logical nature, with her "human" quirks. Makes Tamiyo seem like an especially knowledgeable person.

In the lore the were refereed to as both suns and moons. As they were made out of pure mana its hard to say exactly what they are but I am pretty sure they rotated around the plane. So you could call them moons they just also produced light like a sun.

They could take her in a different direction now that she's in the Underworld on Theros. If Gideon is going to be the, "make tokens and anthem effects," Nahiri is the, "make/search up artifacts and kill shit" side of white, Ajani is the "gain life and get swol as fuck with an avatar" side of it, Elspeth can turn into the, "enchantments are really fucking strong" side of White's color pie.
It would also fit in if we assume she continues the "hero's journey" arch, returns from the dead and goes to kill the person who killed her. She assumes Helios' mantle of being the mono-white God of Theros, which lets her do shit with enchantments.
Maybe her +1 is an enchantment tutor, the -1 is a Detention Sphere effect, and her ult turns her into */* indestructible, hexproof enchantment creature with, "power + toughness = number of enchantments you control."
So after Sorin fall into Nahiri's trap by killing Avacyn next week, how much more pissed will he get at his other daughter figure?

I honestly don't mind the gatewatch, I think it suffers from the individual members not hitting high with fans individually, plus being the first story after the creative overhaul trying to make planeswalkers more central. rather than developing likeable characters and then having them team up (see justice league and avengers, the fucking templates for this thing) they built the team and expected them to fly into our hearts because they were a team.
Hell jace, chandra, and gideon aren't even that bad characters. Jace suffers from overexposure and a completely different character on flavor text vs in lore stories, but they could've all been likable if they put forth the effort to explore them individually before whoo, contrived planeswalker team.
Nissa's just terrible though, no excuses there.

Honestly, it's probably mostly brand. They've never been able to market the characters well due to the whole frequent changing of planes thing, and with a movie coming up that's something they REALLY want to change. Add to that the success of the Marvel movies and you can easily see them going DO THIS WITH OUR STUFF without even considering how it would work at all.
Though yes, Maro's been constantly comparing them to fantasy superheros/supervillains, because he's a giant comic dork, and that likely got everyone else to think that maybe it wasn't such a bad idea.

I personally think the idea of assigning them a personality based on the color of their abilities and then never letting them deviate from that personality kinda sucks.
The older characters were on all kinds of different colored cards. It'd be one thing if they played it subtly but then you have Chandra making an oath about freedom when staring down giant spaghetti monsters not really interested in enslavement so much as eating everything it's kinda weird.
Look at the confrontation between Sorin and Nahiri. There weren't even any misunderstandings, they had all the facts, but Sorin being mono black at the time meant he had to be all douchey about it.
