NEMESIS FLEET CARRIER WHEN
>>
>>47161970
Fucking never hopefully.
>>
>>47162053
Eh, if it's anything like in the tabletop it only approaches the level of strike craft a chaos BB can throw out and outside of dorsal lances has 0 firepower. You would have to escort the dam thing as it wouldn't be able to defend itself while strike craft was on cool down.

>tfw it's even more pointless than an emperor.
>>
>>47162091
I enjoy it on the TT but I have to treat it like a carrier: I have to support and defend it as Str 3 lances may kill an escort a turn of I'm lucky. 12 launch bays is really cool but at 400 pnts it's dangerously vulnerable to giving your opponent a lot of victory points.

It pretty much fills out my fleet for ordnance in really large battles as I only have a Mars otherwise. My local chaos player is usually 20 launch bays of not more.

>>
>>47162142

>20+ bays

Ouch. Please tell me you at least play 2010 update so they don't just spawn hundreds of bombers.

What do you run against that?
>>
>>47162215

with subpar macro dmg output, pretty much yeah
>>
>>47162216
Yeah we use the errata.

I use my nemesis for fighter screens and use my Mars for bomber strikes on weakened targets.

Keep the field filled with torps to force him to use some fighters.

Turret massing my escorts and I run two Bakka Endeavors as reserves with the +5 pnt turret upgrade. It gives them 4 turrets a piece and I put them on large stands which gives them a much larger ordnance engagement range. I use them on point as flak boats. It's pretty fun.
>>
>>47162356

Bakka turret upgrades is probably the best idea. I was thinking if you used a few nova cannons to template blast them, but it would probably be too janky with the scatter dice.
>>
>>47162441
I've got one nova with the Mars. Sometimes it helps but it isn't reliable.

The large bases on the Bakka Endeavour help a lot as he has to either go around them or try to overpower 4-5 turrets.
>>
Destroying that huge ork space hulk was fun. Just sayed as far as i could and spammed torpedo till he burned down.

Speaking of the Nemesis, I wonder if they'll eventually add in all the odds and ends. Voss-pattern Imperials, the extra Chaos ships from the updated rules, maybe rogue Traders as a faction

>All demand xenos ships
>Weaker ships on average but Hella relics/skills

Expansions with random xenos. Rak'gul, Farlarrl or whatever they are with the battlecruisers, Tau allies. Eldar craftworld fleets.

>Single player or skirmish mode where you attack a Craftworld.

>>47162720
I never played the tabletop but according to the wiki the devs have still got shit loads of options when it comes to new ships.

First and foremost though we need more ship slots. Make ship repairs take even longer if they want to balance it out but 3 cruiser slots just isn't enough.
>>
>>47163746
>add progression system
>progression totally halts when you fill out all your ship slots
Genius
>>
>>47162215
Fuck yes. Ram Prow and when you start a match set your ships to fore facing rather then broadside and 3k units.

This keeps your strongest armor facing the targets and the narrowest part, making it harder to torp you. It also means your AI won't go retarded and turn sideways to orcs to let them run into your big juicy sides.

Auto ram by mashing ahead full when you see a shot and autocast torps if you are shit at micro. Even if they sidestep your ramming they go into your broadside at point blank range when it's likely off cooldown. AP shells can do a hell of a lot of damage under those conditions.
>>
Please please please, if you face a player who sits in the corner spamming torps/nova cannons just alt-f4, don't give them the fucking satisfaction. FUCK them so hard
>>
>>47161970
>>47162091
Why is the Nemesis Fleet Carrier okay, but the Jovian cruiser not?
>>
>>47164756
What? Long range torp attacks are just harassment as you close in. You should do it too. At best they get 3 vollies before you close in and that last one means having your torps on cooldown when the battle joins properly.

>Spamming nova cannons.

They get 2 shots before you can close the gap, even as IN. You can't seriously complain that a nova cannon gunline won't close on you.

If I had to guess I'd say you clump your fleet hard and are mad that across the map meltas lit half of it on fire before you'd identified any targets.
>>
>>47164756
Or, you know, I could just beat them like I normally do because I'm not a shitty player and a quitter.

Nova Cannons aren't even a very effective strategy.
>>
>>47164909
Given they mean giving up ram upgrades on the two races that are dependent on ram upgrades, yeah, nova cannons are garbage.
>>
>>47164884
>>47164909
I scouted them with a widowmaker, I had an escort screen and I didn't clump together. They can concentrate a lot more fire on one target than you can, you can't get round the sides, and it's just boring.

3 volleys isn't going to do much to a cruiser, but it's more than enough to do your escorts some serious damage
>>

Is there any kind of penalty for executing an insubordinate captain I'm not noticing?
Wondering why I'd want to invest crew points or a favour slot to stop something I can just click the button above the ship to stop instead
>>
>>47165605

Executing a captain gives you the Mutiny debuff, which lowers ship performance across the board, and there's a chance of automatically suffering critical damage to one system.
>>
>>47165613
It's wonderful when executing an insubordinate captain just blows your fucking deck out.

Like what happened there, was the only way to execute him to plant demolition charges and blow up the entire fucking superstructure?
>>
>>47165613
Also your ships wont gain any XP from that mission.
>>
>>47165644
Maybe a good deal of the crew were with him on getting the fuck outta' there, and the fight to subdue them caused some damage
>>
>>47165613

Plus the new Captain of that ship gets no experience points that match.

I've found, playing Chaos at least, that it's almost a good thing to be lenient with my captains. If they're warping out there's been a reason, at least with the last couple games. Better to save the ship and the leveled Captain then risk having a broken boat surrounded by enemies.

Yet. Its coming, just it's not the dev's main priority.
>>
>>47165684
Usually. I've had some wonderful missions in the campaign where blowing up one ship causes a insubordination cascade. Was defending in planetary assault ones, all three of the enemy's remaining line ships bottled within a 30 second period and well before they hit 30% health.

>>47165722
It's coming according to the dev's roadmap, but yeah, that not being in at launch is an oversight.

>>47165735
I've ended up using them as scout ships. Boosted augurs, probes, etc. I've kitted one of them out for boarding/data retrieval though. Tougher shields, astartes favour, more teleporters, etc.
>>
>>47165702
I actually don't play my eldar very much because orks are about 2000% more fun and the outrage people express when their entire fleet gets rammed and kannoned to death in seconds is fucking outstanding.
>>
>>47165752
Orks are lovely, assuming you get them in close and ramming. Had one too many games where I've been outmanoeuvred and gunned down at range though, so it's IN for me. They've got some response to that, at least.

I think that was back when 40k was even more grimdark than it is now. I don't think it's canon now that guns a kilometre long are manually loaded by slaves
>>
>>47166417
It's not part of the STC design. The gun is from an stc, but the IoM has long since lost the loading mechanism template and the scratch built ones are far too unreliable. So they use press gangs.

It's a half-measure as they do not have complete STC support for gundecks.

What if the Damocles Crusade is not defensive campaign, but offensive and takes place during the second one (perhaps under Shadowsun's command)?

It would make more sense given that the Tau Fleet is going to be made of the Second Generation Warships.

I think the best way they could do it (for them, re: reusing as much assets and design principles as possible) would be as an isolated sept of Tau worlds (maybe Farsight's fortress worlds) weather a flange of the Damocles Gulf Crusade, or a splinter of a hive fleet or something along those lines.

Plus I'm a sucker for Farsight.
>>
>>47171981

I think Great War of Confederation is more likely. Shadowsun during her earlier days as commander of the Tau forces. You also get Tyranids and the option to ally yourself with Imperial Forces lost in the Warp.
>>
>>47172056

Also Dark Eldar "allies" and cultural exchange.

At best she is going be a secondary character like the Imperial fist guy.
>>
>>47171855
>the Tau only get to fight Tyranid until much later

Actually, the Tau fought the Tau the same time the Imperials did.

The Tau fought small splinters of Behemoth while Ultramar had the bulk of the hive fleet smash into it.
>>
>>47172056
>think Great War of Confederation is more likely. Shadowsun during her earlier days as commander of the Tau forces

I facespalmed so far I nearly broke my nose. Shadowsun was a major commander of the Tau during the Damocles Crusade. After the Crusade was dealt with, she was put on ice for 200 years. Then she was awoken to deal with the Orks in Great War of Confederation.

Then she was elected as supreme commander of the Tau forces and assgined the mission of leading the Third Sphere Expansion.

Shaserra = Shadowsun.
>>
>>47172442
Shas-Kauyon. That was her name.

Shas-Mon'tka was Farsight.

Shas-Monat was Kais.

These were the names that their master gave them during their training.

It was implied that there was a Tyrande, Illidan, and Malfurion situation between the three that led to a breakdown of their relationship
>>
>>47172506

Kauyon-Shas = Shadowsun's student name.

Mont’ka-Shoh = Farsight's student name

Monat-Kais = Kaids's student name.

No different Kais. He is not the Kais from the Fire Warrior game.

However, he is most likely the Kais from Dawn of War Dark Crusade because that guy mentions that he wants to make Puretide proud.

>>

I guess I can see it working against particularly dumb imps, especially given boarding torpedoes.

But a lot of the time I'll find an imperial player who doesn't even have mass nova cannons sitting completely stationary balled up in a corner shooting torps while I just shoot a shitload of my own boarding torpedoes at him, then when I get close all his ships are stripped down, barely functional hulks and everything explodes.

And this is really common.

what the fuck are they thinking?

sort of. doing short jumps is why they're precis, but they're not any more precise than human ships doing short jumps. The Tau are just limited too only doing short jumps. Without navigators or a good understanding of the warp they can't do at all the long range like say across half the segmentum that have the high risks associated with warp travel.

Don't have any pro strats, but the #1 thing that kills Eldar is making them go slow. Wreck their engines, block their ships, ram them wherever possible. They won't hold up long under sustained fire. Remember to set target priorities so your ships are focusing on bringing one target down at a time. Bring lots of macro cannons. Nova cannons are wonderfully effective, and even Eldar speed might not save them from it. Consider investing in Supercharged Void Shields and popping them as soon as you see the first flicker of pulsar fire.

>>47184029
Similarly, which dauntless are better?
>>
>>47183565
I run it for fun, prob lose more than i win but im kinda bad anyway. once you get cruisers it becomes better as they have more launch bays, and you can catch people off guard as the long range helps counter the slow speed. Also constant boarding torps can be used to direct people, while the fighters means enemy torps and bombers can be ignored. Just focus on one target at a time, send out mass waves of bombers and close in to ram.

A half decent player will realise you have no guns on anything smaller than a battlecruiser and use that to their advantage (AP macros can hurt), and i have no squigs so at least one ship warps out every game. Also note that the points cost for each ship is high.

Other orks often mess me up, eldar and chaos i normally win against and IN depends on the player.

tl;dr play it for fun, spam bombers and ram often

Can't read the spoiler?
Here is a pasta:
"It first begins at Turn 19, you have a scripted battle with a Black Stone Fortress and your "estimed" (should be esteemed) officer Vandez and his equipped dauntless light cruiser will be there. Your objective here is simple. The blackstone fortress must win, but Vandez should stay alive. Yes, you have to FAIL the mission to get the achivement.(If you win, Vandez says he will go warn other sector and gets killes) It gets worse later >.<

Next step on the on the goal is the battle of Gethsemane , where Ravensbrug, our "estimed" officer Vandez and the Abridal are joining you for some fresh chaos meat, you got to rekk chaos ships and win the mission but the trick is that Vandez and his kamikadze cruiser needs to stay alive, took me two atempts at hard cos he really wants to die.

Last but not least: Final battle, where I was joined by Ravensburg, the Eldar princess-c*** and our Hero! Vandez the minefield bane! Vandez the kamikadze! You goal is simple, kill the planetkiller before he Vandez murders himself on some carnage cruiser or other minefield."

Still need confirmation but it sounds plausible.
