You are Captain SAMANTHA WELLINGS, a newly minted captain of the Centauri Accord!
Currently, you were back in the Armory with Tank to prep for the raid on the Confederate world of White Haven. Tank seemed to be standing at a much farther distance than usual. You kinda wondered what the reason was. Maybe it was something to do with last night?
Regardless, you had to choose your loadout if you were going to accompany Tank's raiding force down to the surface. Well, you had to choose your armor again. As always, the heavy armor would give you better protection and was better suited for an up front battle and protracted conflicts. The light armor, however, would be more conducive to quick, lightning attacks and mobility, and would be a lot more stealthy...

Tank nods, but still keeps his distance. Apparently he was still worked up.
"What, you're not going to help me?" You chuckle.
Tank shakes his head. You should know the process by this point.
Heh, it was rare to see Tank being so worked up over something. You watch him as the armor attaches to your regular suit, integrating itself onto your body. Tank continues to keep his distance from you, looking away somewhat awkwardly.

Fuck yes! It was the second Merc quest I read, but the best of them all in terms of originality, story, character, and sheer awesomeness of the dice rolls. That last nat-20 was completely unforgettable. I literally screamed out loud for real when that came up.

You stay silent. It was probably best to leave Tank alone for now, especially right before a mission like this one.
"You ARE ready, right?" You ask Tank.
Tank nods, holding up his heavy plasma rifle and stubby plasma caster. Basically, his idea of a "light" loadout. A number of light combat bots powered up as well, to assist your infiltration.
You take up your own loadout. Basically just a standard plasma carbine, in keeping with your intent on staying light and fast. Your light armor would have its own built in shields like the heavy armor, but they wouldn't be nearly as robust. At least you still had onboard power to boost them in necessary, though.

"Captain, we're in position behind the nearest moon." Bradford announces. "We're ready to go whenever you are."

"We've done our best to get the shuttle as stealthy as possible." Scott adds in over the comms. "Mostly just removed or covered up any that could give a possible sensor return. As long as you only keep only the critical systems running, you should be fine.
"Critical system such as..."
"Basically just engine at minimal power." Scott explains.
"Right, right." You sigh.
You, Tank, the rest of the robotic strike squad head down into the shuttle bay and file into the waiting shuttle. The pilot gives you an acknowledging look before closing the boarding ramp.
"So how do you want to do this, Captain?" The pilot asks. "I can drop you a few miles from the target site. It'll take a bit of walking to get there, but it's your best shot at avoiding detection. Or, I can do a hot insertion. It'll be a lot faster, but the 'hot' part is there for a reason..."

"Roger that." The pilot nods, slightly relieved. "Adjusting course."
The shuttle bay doors then slowly open, revealing the expanse of space as well as the desolate surface of the moon the Gullinbursti was hiding behind. The pilot throttles the shuttle up and it begins puttering along towards the planet.
"Oh shit. Oooooooh shit." The pilot frowns.
"What's wrong?" You ask.
"That." The pilot points up and to the left. You squint your eyes. The shuttle's sensors were off, so the tactical overlay couldn't really highlight it, and you were surprised the pilot was even able to eyeball it. However, you own eyes adjust and you manage to see the faint outline of a Confederate corvette.
"Can... can it see us?" You whisper, as if your voice might actually be heard.
"Don't know." The pilot grimaces.
"Can we change course to avoid it?"
"Right now we're on a ballistic course to mimic orbital debris." The pilot informs you. "If we change course now, they'll notice."
Tank then leans in with a suggestion, pointing back in the direction of the moon. Perhaps the Gullinbursti could distract its attention?

You're all deathly quiet as the shuttle slowly passes under the corvette. It looks so close that you could reach up and touch it, but you know that in reality it's actually many kilometers away. Almost a speck in the distance.
The seconds crawl by, but the corvette doesn't change course or fire weapons. It looks like it wasn't concerned at all by a small piece of apparent space debris.
The pilot finally lets out a sigh of relief when the shuttle shudders, a sign that it has hit the atmosphere.
"All right, we should be safe now." The explains. "The atmosphere will deflect most orbital sensors, so we don't have to worry about their ships detecting us. Now we just have to avoid their ground based assets and we'll be dandy."
"Thank god." You FINALLY exhale.
Tank is just as stoic and resolute as ever.
You look out the viewport, and just like the briefing, you could see the planet of White Haven lived up to its classification as an agri-world. On the ground, instead of a sea of water, it was a sea of crops. Corn, wheat, soy, all the common staples of human sustainment stretched from horizon to horizon, with only the odd farming settlement to break up the endless green.

"All right, this is as close as I can get you to the facility without triggering their sensors." The pilot says as he sets down in the middle of a cornfield. "I'll stay here as long as I can. You need an extract, you just call."
"Roger." You nod as you close your helmet and step out of the ramp.
Outside, the planet seemed very... Earth-like. Dusty and rustic.
Tank then follows you out and activates a holo display of the surrounding area. You could see your current position marked with a large red dot. Farther out, you could see a massive white dome, your target. Unfortunately, the area around the dome was cleared of all plant life, which would make it difficult to approach from the open.
"I suppose you have an idea?" You ask Tank.
Tank nods and points to three points of interest. A nearby settlement, a road, and a pipeline. Maybe setting up some kind of "accident" at the settlement could draw the security force away, opening a gap for you to exploit. Surveillance also seemed to indicate constant deliveries being made to the site by trucks, providing another avenue of entry. Finally, the pipeline led directly into the facility, and even if was being used, your suits were fully sealed...

Tank nods and motions for the bots to follow. Your squad pushes its way through the forest of corn crops. Tank releases a small aerial drone which hovers in the air, giving you all a birds eye perspective since the corn was blocking all of your line of sight.
"So, what do you think about agri-worlds?" You ask Tank.
Tank shrugs. A bit dull, actually. Not really a lot of stuff on an agri-world worth fighting over, at least not for an individual infantryman.
"Typical." You chuckle.
And finally you reach the pipeline. There was nothing special about it. Just a bit tube of metal suspended above the ground, carrying whatever it was carrying to or from the facility. Tank climbs one of the maintenance access ladders and examines a hatch on the top. He indicates that the pipeline was a low pressure pipe, which was good for you. Made it easier to move through.
Tank then pries the access hatch open, and immediately biohazard warnings on your HUD blare.
"Tank, what exactly is in that pipe?" You mumble.
Tank shrugs .Some kind of biowaste. Common byproduct from a agriculture lab like this one.
You climb up the ladder and look down into the pipe, where you could see this horrid black/green sludge slowly flowing through the pipe.
"Biowaste, huh?" You ask.
Tank nods.
"Isn't that basically, you know, shit?"
Tank nods.

"Ugggggh." You groan as you eventually plant both feet and dip your whole body into the stream of biowaste. Your powered arms immediately clamp to the sides of the pipe and start pulling you against the current. All the while, you're fighting to prevent yourself from gagging at the through of crawling through a literal river of shit.
Your tactical display pinged, showing Tank and the combat bots following close behind.
Meanwhile, your scout drone remained outside, surveying the pipe ahead of you. On your data feed, you could see that the pipe hung over a small set of buildings, which could provide ample cover if you cut your way out of the pipe. You could find an entry into the facility from that point.
Or... you could just keep following the pipe into the facility itself, but the drone had no visual of where the pipe ultimately led. You were kind of afraid of what kind of infernal machine would be the source of all this biowaste...

You keep pulling yourself along, until you hear a muffled sound coming from outside the pipe.
"WARNING, FOREIGN OBSTRUCTION DETECTED. INITIATING EMERGENCY PURGE."
Wait, did that mean-
Suddenly, there's a massive pressure increase as you, Tank, and the combat bots are shot right out of the pipe into a holding tank, biowaste spattering everywhere as it filters away in built in drains in the floor.
Up above, you can see what looks to be some kind of control or observation room, protected by a large pane of glass. Behind it, you can see regular industrial workers observing, and are obviously surprised to see a squad of full armed and armored combat bots and soldiers being shot out of the pipe they were trying to clear.
Well shit.
The combat bots, defaulting to their combat programming, immediately raise their weapons. Tank does, as well.
