Is there a good system for playing Spiral Knights as a TTRPG?

Any General use system
>>47135346
Reskinned D&D
>>47135586
I don't think it would do the guns and stuff right.
>>47135892
Bows and crossbows are reskinned guns
Arrows and bolts are reskinned plasma blobs
Just do it lad

Well, which edition of D&D would you recommend? 4e seems kind of game-y.
>>47135346
How would you make into a campaign? Even the fluff of the game is pretty gamey.
>>47136339
Not him, but 5e
>>47136339
>Too gamey... for spiral knights.
How about you tell us what kind of campaign you envision, because if you're just going to do >Videogame as ttrpg!
everyone is going to assume that you never read books and cannot into imagination unless it's based on wow, lol or anime.

I'd probably just do dungeon crawls, unless I started building up some made-up lore. There's a lot more of their world that isn't really explored, and they did come from space. Lots of possibilities there.

Why so?
>>47137503
I never said game-y was a bad thing. I just meant that I thought 4e would be best for Spiral Knights as a tabletop game, since the mechanics would probably carry over a little more easily.

>I never said game-y was a bad thing.
You don't need to. "game-y" is generally understood to be an insult or complaint on this board, just like "narrative" and "story game".

>Why so?
Not him either, but 5e has the dubious distinction of doing nothing wrong on account of not doing anything at all.
>>47137706
I suppose that's true, but if 4e's mechanics are literally more like an MMO or similar games than other RPGs, especially earlier or later editions of D&D, what else are you supposed to call it?
>>47136339
Well it is a game, so...
>>47137813
That's a common misconception.
3.5, the usual tarrget for comparison, is also known as Diablo edition. It is simply not true that 4e is more "game-y" than 3.5. Even though the roles are often cited as the definitive MMO trait of 4e, the Defender and Leader roles in particular work nothing like the Tank and Healer archetypes in these video game.
4e did not increase in "game-iness", it merely dropped the facade. 3.5 already had plenty of it, but hidden behind the writing. 4e simply put the underlying systems and assumptions into plain view in an attempt to make them easier to follow and use.
As for how that worked out... Well, edition wars are still a thing.

I've been meaning to run one in Fate with mecha rules. 4e would work great, but I worry about speed of play.

I've been meaning to run it in Fate, but 4e would work great too.

>>47138935
Why'd you chose Fate? I don't have much experience with the system.
>>47139028
Honestly? Because it's the last rule set I played in, is rules light to medium (with the expansions I'd run) and I would split the campaign between exploration and combat.
