Are there any weapon enchants or Mythic powers that can reduce a weapon's handedness?

I'm going to be going into a WotR campaign (don't worry, GM will remove the retard bits), and I know that there's going to be a Holy Avenger at some point, and I want my Knight Disciple to be able to wield both it and his family's ancestral greataxe

And yes, he will be a Paladin of Damerrich.
>>
>>47078232

Effortless lace can simulate this by letting you wield a weapon 1 size category bigger without penalties. I think this means you can wield a large dwarven waraxe as a medium one.
>>
Anyone has a good music playlist for Pathfinder Session? Especially, Battle theme / Boss theme (since those are like 1/2 of the session anyway).
>>
>>47078285
Effortless Lace remove penalty but doesn't do anything with the "handedness".

You still have to wield Large dwarven waraxe as two-handed weapon.

...A Bard/Rogue with Bleeding Attack and/or the Rogue Trick that adds bleed to Sneak Attack damage.
>>
>>47078232
Gonna have to drop a feat on it. At least I think Stupendous Strength reduces handedness.
>>
Does anyone have any feat suggestions for a primarily ranged Living Legend Soulknife? I've got the big 4 already (2, thanks to feat tax rules), as well as the psicrystal feats, but I can't figure out what else to take.
>>
>>47078232
>>47078364
Duelist's Vambraces can give you -4/-2, but that's about as far as it goes. Proper "treat as a light weapon" reduction is locked away in a fighter archetype at 11th level, never to see the light of play.

Take Mythic Two-Weapon Fighting if you absolutely must.
>>
Right so Tieflings and Aasimar are the result of low-level beings and mortals intermingling.
And that there are tieflings and aasimar for just about every single Good-Evil plane.

>When you voluntarily use one or more actions or feats that apply penalties to attack rolls with your melee weapons (such as a charge, fighting defensively, or using the Power Attack feat), the spirit reduces the total penalty on affected attacks by 1 (to a minimum penalty of 0). The penalty is reduced by an additional 1 for every 5 caster levels you possess (to a minimum penalty of 0). Only penalties incurred by voluntary use of feats or maneuvers are reduced by this spell.

So you can only remove the penalty with a CL 20 Blade Tutor. SO VIABLE.

"Genie-kin" are the result of elemental races (or those weird Janni) intermingling with mortals. They're called Genie-kin because the Outsider ancestor is typically a genie, though they add other examples like Tritons, Invisible Stalkers, Azer, and, oddly enough, Xorns. Also there's like some single mention of Undines descended from Nereids. Also there's those Chaotic-related whatsits from Distant Shores but I can't remember how they are spawned.

Besides, at least he ten times better and more interesting than the homicidal edgelord Ragathiel.

I was looking at some this: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/3rd-party-classes/super-genius-games/adept-godling/archetypes/rogue-genius-games---adept-godling-archetypes/harrier#TOC-Bard

Specifically the sidebar. about 'archetype packages'

Would it be reasonable to say that the jester has dropped the spellcasting from the bard in order to gain the 'sneak' archetype from rogue (sneak attack at 1st, 5th, 9th, 13th and 17th and trap sense). and somewhere along the line has grabbed bleeding attacks?

Or the reverse could be true, he dropped the sneak feature which still leaves him with half sneak attack progression (3rd, 7th, 11th, 15th, 19th) and grabbed the performance package (effectively losing bard spellcasting and bardic knowledge... and half the will saves) but keeping rogue talents, evasion and uncanny dodge.
>>
>>47078677
>>47078422

I'm not sure why you can't just do one or the other.

The Bard could take that power attack feat for bleed, the Rogue could focus on UMD for the buff/stress removal.

>PF butchers the titanomachy from Greek myth. Anyone else think it should be changed so that the titans created the gods and were usurped?

Paizo's fucked up a lot of things, anon.

Making their pantheon a boring collection of deities who never really do anything outside of like, one ancient battle is really a sign of just how little they give a shit about cosmology, or indeed the state of their world in general.

The setting exists for APs and Pathfinder Society, without those two I can guarantee Paizo would be well into their next setting.
>>
>>47078742
They're not interested in anything besides dumping 'options' onto the player, and an indulgence of options means you can't have anything conflict, and if anything DOES conflict anyway for any reason whatsoever, you need to do something that allows things to co-exist and basically smooth everything over.
>>
>>47078671
It's not 'butchering the titanomachy' to use the name titan in a different context, you fucking autist.

You may wish to note that Zeus and the Olympians don't fucking exist in Golarion as of yet, and may very well just be gigas and giants with casting abilities if they did. It's not like the Greek gods were ever particularly powerful, with the exception of the primordial entities that spawned the titans in the first place.

>>47078752

Which is a real shame considering conflict is a great way to create character backstories that mesh well with characters from other nationalities.

Consider, for example, the interactions between a Paladin of the Silver Flame and a Shifter, or perhaps a Cyran exile and a Brelish man-at-arms.
>>
>>47078757
>It's not like the Greek gods were ever particularly powerful

Well, they were powerful in the way that a high-level full-caster is powerful, and had comparable morals (or lack there-of). Most every display of their fantastical powers other than the above mentioned titanomachy involved something like transmutation, turning women into snakes, statues, spiders, etc., reviving a cooked human with necromancy and then using more transmutation to give him an ivory shoulder to replace one they ate, turning themselves into all kinds of things (including a golden shower). They're all just dick wizards, basically.

I literally cannot imagine a reason why that would be called out, especially if you're playing something like a sorceress or alchemist.

So why haven't any Metallic Dragons gone to kill a Linnorm and gain a whole Linnorm Kingdom to rule? Surely they can make their natural weapons count as Cold Iron via magic, and the resources of an entire kingdom would be immensely vital to furthering the cause of Good. I mean, I can at least see the crusader-minded Silvers or Bronzes trying it.

Plus, Linnorms are Always Chaotic Evil anyway, and a Dragon is much more likely to make the save against the Death Curse than a human. Beyond even that, Ragadahn, that Linnorm Eldest, claims himself to be the father of all Linnorms on the First World and Material Plane (including Fafnheir), and thereby claims himself the Father of all Dragons - which is absolutely heretical, because everyone knows Apsu is the Father of all Dragons.

Why is there no Draconic crusade against the heresy of Linnorms?

So in not!Asia there are a bunch of places taken over by evil. Right like there is an entire nation taken over by Oni, one by goblins and one even taken over by a kraken. Minkai is going to betaken over by an Oni as well. And that's just supernatural evil.

But isn't this also the place with the numerous nature spirits? Possibly even a celestial bureaucracy of sorts staffed by spirits, dragons and ran by gods.

So why isn't there some sort of crusade to retake these places back from the forces of evil?

>>
>>47079460
Are you talking about the kami when you say 'spirits'? Because the kami are neutral, and thus don't have any ties to the celestial planes.

As for the rest, you may as well ask why there's no crusade against Cheliax or Nidal or Razmiran. You can't just pull a crusade out of your ass; you need a major power already in place to organize and fund it, and the most stable major powers ARE the evil ones.

There was a celestial intervention in Tianjing when the qlippoth invaded through a local Worldwound-equivalent, and Amanandar exists as the result of a Taldane 'crusade' that ran away from their moldering empire back home. But those nations are now occupied with holding their borders and maintaining the peace locally, not with trying to start shit with Kaoling or Minkai or anyone else.

>>
>>47079346
A Hermea centric AP could be great. Especially if you get into how it's less "LG dragon dictates peoples lives" and more "LG dragon pays people in his study/drug trial with living in paradise and plays matchmaker for them". Have a wide range of waifus/husbandos to recommend to each PC based on their tastes. Stock of genderchange belts for trans vounteers to be their sex of choice when they make babies. No gays though, but bi/pan/etc is acceptable. Mengakare isn't evil, just has an idea and learned a lot of humans are into breeder fantasies.

Bad guys can be trying to ruin the project with fey/outsider nloodlines or something.
>>

>>
>>47079661
I've been eyeballing the Armor Piercing rules, because I hope that would make people less leery of guns (muh Touch AC).
>>
>>47079674
If Paizo did write it, it'd probably be about a bunch of people who got butthurt over being passed over/kicked out/whatever for Hermea and decide to go in and "free" everyone who lives there from Mengkare's "oppression" by being spunky 7 WIS CG rebels.

And the AP would conclude with some hamfisted space flea from nowhere boss fight that somehow "justifies" the actions of the rebels as being good all along.
>>
>>47079601
Neutral may mean they don't take sides but it doesn't mean that they're inactive against things that threaten themselves. And I'd say that Oni are probably their biggest threat. I even forgot a kingdom; it's the one taken over by giant spider chicks/Asian driders.
>>
>>47079759
And that's why someone else needs to write it.

Depending on how it's run, Hermea could be the comfiest and/or perviest place on Golarion.

>>
>>47079977
Yeah, that doesn't sound appealing at all. There's nothing in that proposal that offers any incentive to actually build a character, there's no danger or risk, there's no drive to grow or improve, and there's no actual conflict. Just "follow the dragon's orders."

Bleh.
>>

If my adventuring party finishes an adventure path at level 18, are there any books or homebrews of epic level quests we could do to take us up to, say, level 30?
>>
>>47080671

Not really. Epic level isn't a thing in PF. The closest analogue is Mythic, which has ten "tiers" independent of level that you acquire basically whenever the GM feels you've earned it.

There is one first-party AP that uses Mythic rules-Wrath of the Righteous-but it's not very popular.
>>

No-one else in my circle of regulars is running PF at the moment and I'm personally kind of burned out on PF at the moment after my latest attempt collapsed before first session, so right now I'm trying to start an Only War game instead.

What the fuck does Gyronna have to do with Hermea? Why would Apsu or Dahak care about Mengkare specifically, when he's a mere non-mythic ancient? Why shoehorn in Besmara, what the fuck does Optimus Prime have to do with anything, why in the world would a Hermea AP end at the Mordant Spire fighting enemies who have nothing to do with ANY of those deities when the Spire's own forces outclass anything Hermea has except Mengkare himself?

You can't just shoehorn in every fucking deity and faction that catches your eye, anon. That's how you get nonsense like Kingmaker where the BBEG appears to enact their plot and the party has no idea who the fuck they even are or what's happening.
>>
>>47080815
>Well, spell casting is broken.

Are there any long duration spells or magic items that protect against the flat footed condition?

How do I kill a NPC in a dramatical way when there is a Paladin the group that can basically heal him back and cure him of any disease, poison, everything he may have.

>>
>>47081097
That doesn't make any more or less sense than ANY evil deity. "There are babies here, so Gyronna should be conspiring to destroy it?" Where in the world AREN'T there babies? CHELIAX HAS BABIES.

There's no reason for hags or fey to be anywhere near Hermea, any more than demons or giants or fucking serpentfolk mummies would be. You just picked out a random enemy group and threw them at a setting that has no connection to them. If anything, Hermea's big threat would be the aboleth, who are both relatively close by, known for infiltration of human societies, and have past motive for wanting to control eugenics programs.
>>

There's a poison in DSP's steelforge that traps the target's soul when they're slain.

>Soulvenom Infusion
>Price 4,000 gp
>Made from a combination of virulent animal venoms, undead flesh, and negative energy-bearing minerals, this potent poison actually loosens the grip of one’s soul on one’s body. If the victim dies while still suffering from its damaging effects, they become impossible to resurrect. This condition persists until all traces of the poison are purged from the corpse, allowing the soul to come back into contact with the body. The latent toxin resists all magical means of purging, requiring a caster level check (DC 35) to affect them. This increases by two for each additional dose in the victim’s system when they died. Methods of resurrection that do not have to use the original body (such as true resurrection) must still contend with this so long as the original body still exists.

>Type Injury; Save Fortitude DC 25
>Onset Immediate; Frequency 1/two rounds for 10 rounds
Effect 2d6 Negative Energy damage; Cure 2 consecutive saves
>>
>>47081130
You could just say "no amount of healing will save them"
>>
>>47081200
Then let's use the aboleth. They're right bastards and never get enough love anyway.
>>
>>47081130
Well, first, stop trying to control the plot so much. Cutscenes aren't a good thing, the players should at least get a chance to save the guy if they try.

That said, there's plenty of abilities that impose caster level checks on anyone trying to heal a character. Have the assassin be a HD-advanced Barbazu or something: DC 10+HD to stop the 2 bleed per round, add 2 to the DC with ability focus, etc.
>>
>>47081130

They had a chance but ruined it by following the wrong lead in their investigation.

I think I will go with this >>47081233 idea. It will help them a bit in their investigation since they will understand that only someone powerfull could afford such poison for a political assasination.
>>

Kill the NPC - if need be with a way that prevents raising dead (if the party has resurrection, let them use it, it is pretty expensive), then have the party have this conversation via speak with dead when they find his head. Presuming, of course, the party has access to speak with dead and it is obvious that they should speak to him. If not, have them find notes, rescue a terrified manservant/maid/lover/pet that they can speak to that would impart the information, etc.

Hey /pfg/, I need a bit of advice. I have a Kensai Magus that will soon hit level 13 and gain Iajutsu Focus:

"At 13th level, a kensai may always act and may draw his weapon as a swift action during a surprise round, though he is considered flat-footed until he acts. During a surprise round or when attacking a flat-footed opponent, he adds his Intelligence modifier on damage with his chosen weapon (minimum 0)."

To maximize the mileage I get out of this, I'm curious what I can do to make my opponents flat-footed. I'd like to avoid something that would require me to dip in another class, but I'm open to using feats or magic items. I'm considering Shatter Defense (I'd have to retrain something into Dazzling Display but that won't be an issue) but I don't know that I want to have to put the actions into attempting (and quite possibly failing) intimidation checks mid-combat. Any better ideas, or will I have to settle for only getting that sweet INT-to-damage bonus during the surprise round?

Let's.

The AP shouldn't start in Hermea, as you need low-level shenanigans and there's nothing that could happen in Hermea without Mengkare or his authorities cracking down on it harder than the PCs could.

Start it in the Ironbound Archipelago somewhere, with something like ships having been attacked by pirates accompanied by what survivors insist was a gold dragon. People are being kidnapped and the ships left with just enough crew to get to harbor.

The PCs start out being hired as security for a ship, so the first book or so can be standard sea-going encounters and maybe some lesser pirates. End the book with the dragon pirates showing up, but the PCs fight them back onto their own ship and it turns out the dragon is an illusion backed by a wizard pirate captain casting a custom breath-weapon-alike spell. The pirates assumed it was their captain making the illusion as well, but the PCs find out that he was actually working for an aboleth which trailed the ship around (and is of course long gone by the time his thrall is defeated).

Then a book of seeking ways to track the aboleth, maybe by going to a merfolk or aquatic elf city to enlist guides. A book of seeking out said aboleth, whose ultimate role is actually just running distractions and souring relations towards Hermea. Then bring in the Mordant Spire elves, not by directly visiting the Spire but simply as the local authorities on the aboleth who the PCs need to contact, and then the final two books could be actually heading out to Hermea, unveiling some veiled masters in the nation's midst, and then have an omnipath as the BBEG who uses an aboleth-engineered one-use orb of dragonkind to shut down Mengkare, forcing the PCs to save the day.
>>

Paizo or 3pp? Links?

>>47081437

Imagine if most of the spirits are either lawful neutral or neutral and bound to the letter of the law, whether because of their own beliefs or because of ancient bans that define their very existence. The oni found loopholes and can exploit them if they only go so far. However, in order to do that the oni themselves have to sort-of follow the rules in such a way that the spirits cannot find the reason for a response in force.

Simply making the spirits impotent doesn't really tell a good tale - they end up looking like chumps and the PCs would treat them as such. Make there be a reason for it. It might be stupid lawful or stupid neutral, but it should make sense for them and the PCs should get it on some level...and maybe start thinking of ways they could remove a pebble to start and avalanche.
>>
>>47081449
We need to make sure to include some attractive NPC options for the Mengkare section.
>>
>>47079019

Good lord, it's a relief to know other people have a thing for that.

>>47081130

Typically at my table it's understood there are ways to injure a body too badly for it to be saved with healing magic, but this takes a long-ass time and special training so only certain experts can do it and only if they have a big lead on the party. Helps create a sense of time pressure in that if the PCs become aware of such an enemy, they're aware even with amazing healing magic it might not be enough if they're too slow to get to the enemy's target.
>>
Is Disruptive+Spellbreaker actually good enough to give enemy casters trouble? Another player is suggesting it to me but I'm not sure I believe them... I mean, even ignoring that someone can just 5-ft step away, most enemy casters are going to be pretty good at passing their concentration checks. Disruptive raises the DC by 4 but I'm not sure that's enough.

Have you guys never heard of Hero's Rest?

>Hero's Rest, in the Hagreach region of the Lands of the Linnorm Kings, is a memorial to honor the most famous of those who have died defending Hagreach from the Irriseni raiders and whose bodies have not been recovered, remaining where they were slain across the border in Irrisen. All Hero's Rest cairns and graves are empty and the memorial is also known as the Empty Boneyard. The hilltop memorial which overlooks the eastern border is protected by a silver dragon named Avaleru. The dragon has no true love for the violent Ulfen neighbors, but she hates the Irriseni witches and their agents. It is said that Avaleru uses a part of the regular yearly tithes she gets as a guardian to grant magical boons to kind and good-mannerly Ulfen, assuming the form of a mysterious silver-haired woman.

There's also a goddamn White Dragon in the Crown of the World, dragons are all over the place. Land of the Linnorm Kings doesn't get a lot of draconic attention because they've already got Linnorms (and Fafnheir.)

Treat Poison

To treat poison means to tend to a single character who has been poisoned and who is going to take more damage from the poison (or suffer some other effect). Every time the poisoned character makes a saving throw against the poison, you make a Heal check. If your Heal check exceeds the DC of the poison, the character receives a +4 competence bonus on his saving throw against the poison.

Action/Time: 1 standard action.

Retry? Varies. Generally speaking, you can’t try a Heal check again without witnessing proof of the original check’s failure.

------------------------------

>from a DSP dev

You say that like it's supposed to mean something. The fact is, there are things that are actually relegated to the supernatural. You're right, I'm a dev, that means I have to follow the rules of the game. Not everything needs a mundane solution to the problem. This is a game where magic exists, and some stuff just IS magic.
>>
>>47082054
So basically you're saying "I don't think that nonmagical people should be able to combat this, even though there's plenty of explanations (unrealistic explanations certainly, but no more unrealistic than PoW stuff) that'd fit for nonmagical characters"

This is precisely why we hate Paizo. Disallowing mundane means of removing it is fine. Really. But please don't hide behind the "it's not realistic" excuse. High-level Pathfinder is in no way or form realistic to begin with.
>>
>>47081804
>think about or describe outfits

Man, I always feel like I should do this beyond just a "wearing casual clothes" or "wearing their adventuring gear", but I'm always afraid I'll come off as some kind of obsessive autist if I put too much detail into describing appearance. Plus it tends to slow me down as I triple check words to make sure I'm using the right terms for things. "FUCK IS THIS A BLOUSE OR A SHIRT, AND WHY CAN'T I REMEMBER THE NAME OF THIS HAT?"

Hell, sometimes I have a perfect description in mind but feel embarrassed about what I would be describing. Like wanting to give my Kitsune Djezet Skin armor to go with his detached Sleeves of Many Garments, and the numerous Magic Tattoos all over him.
>>
>>47082054
Ok, but no other poison actually stops ressurection, that why I think it should need to have a special type of Heak check to remove it from the body.

You break nothing and you give some good reason to invest in the Heal skill.

>>47082142

I asked for a mundane solution because if I have one, I have evidence to say "Hey, let's take a look at this. Maybe there's a way around this issue with supernatrual shit."

I don't have the luxury of just being able to write whatever I want. And I don't have the pull to just do whatever I want within the boundaries of the writing I AM able to do. I can't write homebrew anymore, because it's attached to my name and my name carries weight (however small). So no, I can't "just make it happen" I have to be able to back up my actions and defend them against potentially thousands of people.
>>

No need to feel embarassed-it's better to just own it.

>Djezet Skin Armor
>Feels like I'm wearing nothing at all!
>>
>>47081895
Well no character in the "real world" is beyond level 5.

So being able to accomplish a dc 35-40 heal check should suffice. I mean lets assume a +5 stat, skill focus heal (+3 pre 10 ranks, +6 post), trained class skill bonus (+3), you'd still need quite a few ranks to barely hit the dc, unless you had even more skill boosting items (which you won't because no one puts a billion ranks or feats into the trap that is heal).

Making caster edition even more caster centric is dickish

Man, not trying to be agressive here, but this don't make any sense.

In a game where you can wrestle a fucking dragon but you can't use your absurdly high knowledge in medicine to remove some substance from a dead body is a very weak argument.

Make it two checks (One to identify the Poison, other to remove) with a VERY high DC and you can have some awesome doctor doing Trauma Center levels of AWESUM MEDICINE.

>I don't have the luxury of just being able to write whatever I want.

Yes, you have. If people will like and/or buy it it's another topic.
>>
>>47081895
>>47082237
Couldn't you just drain the body of fluids the same way you do a slaughtered animal? You don't need a body to be intact for resurrection or even raise dead, just whole.

Raise Dead:
>Normal poison and normal disease are cured in the process of raising the subject, but magical diseases and curses are not undone. While the spell closes mortal wounds and repairs lethal damage of most kinds, the body of the creature to be raised must be whole. Otherwise, missing parts are still missing when the creature is brought back to life.

Resurrection:
>The condition of the remains is not a factor. So long as some small portion of the creature's body still exists, it can be resurrected, but the portion receiving the spell must have been part of the creature's body at the time of death. (The remains of a creature hit by a disintegrate spell count as a small portion of its body.)

It's completely absurd that you'd need True Resurrection to counter the poison, considering Resurrection can work on ashes or a little finger.

Because they're strong enough to penetrate its scales with even their fists, because they're capable of finding weak spots nobody else could, because they're trained in hand-to hand beyond mortal men. In any case they don't beat it 'because they rolled very high on attacks' but because they wore it down and bled it out, or because they were simply that physically strong that they beat it as you or I would beat someone in a street fight.

I'm not saying an explanation of why is needed, but how definitely is, considering the person I responded to said, and I quote:

Once you get past level 5 you're basically in the realm of the supernatural anyways. People who are able to hit DC35-40+ checks more than 5% of the time would make any real surgeon look like a bitch.

Comparable swim checks basically allow you to ignore whirlpools. Comparable fly checks allow medium creatures to ignore 175+mph winds. Comparable acrobatics checks would allow you to balance on a <2inch wide space during a severe earthquake, or with the right skills leap huge distances without moving, or basically walk up nearly vertical inclines.

These are all feats that are basically super humanly impossible.

I think I'd make it a minor quest hook. So you need to acquire positive-energy imbued something or other to counteract the negative energy used in poison, and then get rid of/break down the poison somehow(perhaps by crafting a specially made antidote that isn't available just to buy because reasons).
>>
>>47081895
Get a needle and IV, and either a handpump or some gnomish automatic pump, and cycle blood through a filter before it returns to the body. Filter is... some sort of alchemical charcoal?

And if you wanna talk about blood congealing after death, hey, you just need to force in some alchemical anticoagulant and wait a bit, then process the blood, and get your cleric buddy to raise them then.
>>
>>47082454
I gotta admit that I really failed to provide some examples.

Wash the body in special substances, apply some kind of alchemical serum, put the body in certain temperature to make the poison inert...

Trying not to be a dick here, but you probably should've led with "Well, I didn't write this, but I'd imagine there are no mundane means to remove it because..." or something to that effect instead of going "well, show me how it could be done IRL and then we'll talk".

Are you me?
>>
>>47082858
It takes less of my time to jump right to "give me reasons why I should do this" than to play telephone tag between PFG and Steelforge. I could have worded it better, but it's too late now.
>>
>>47082874
i dunno
i have plenty of friends at the moment, but it feels like theyre all starting to settle down and move on with their lives while i just keep doing the same shit ive always done

i feel like ill end up "that weird guy" in the group and i wont be able to connect with my friends in the same way any more

sorry for blogposting
>>
>>47082922
Yeah, it is, forever.
>>
>>47082832
And in 3.5 it was worked out to be roughly a dc 80 escape artist check for an otherwise normal medium sized creature to crawl through a 2inch space.

Hell it was only something like a dc50-60 balance (rolled into acrobatics) check to *mundanely* walk on clouds.
>>
>>47082762
>Somehow, I became the guy everyone bitches to when they're dissatisfied with something

People tend to bitch about and to you because you have a tendency to melt down and be a loud asshole to us, then act like it's all OUR fault when you said something retarded that the rest of DSP had to backtrack on.
>>
>>47082813
Somebody get promethian alchemist bro in here stat to cook this anon up a daughter.
>>
>>47082140
I've been doing some freeform RP lately and accidentally ended up with two people for whom clothing is an important part of their abilities. Oops?
>>
>>47083019
Let me rephrase then: Until I stopped pretending I haven't always been a giant asshole, I was the dev people called on to fix problem X, Y, or Z in whatever playtest material was being looked at. And if things weren't altered to the satisfaction of the requester, I was the one being blamed.

I don't enjoy being put in that position.
>>
>>47083109
We do that to the other people too when they post. They tend to either tell us what's not changing and why, or address things unbiasedly.

Except Gareth and grappling/chabingers

Maybe you should take a break from 4chan, man.
>>
>>47082810
>So weakening soulvenom infusion runs pretty counter to its intended purpose.

Didn't think about it.
>>
>>47083109
And now we have Gareth and you're just around to be a vestigial blowhard.
>>
>>47083143
>charbinger
You rang?
>>
>>47083019
Exactly, you can't be wrong (demonstrably so) and still take the moral high ground when "apologizing" without looking like a massive asshole or a tantruming child.

The rule was stupid, the argument made for not changing it is dumb, and bitching about getting called out on it is terminally stupid.

Simply responding like >>47082832 did with "hey shit I was wrong, don't I feel silly" ends the 'argument' nicely.
>>
>>47083143
>Maybe you should take a break from 4chan, man.
That time that Elric, Gareth and Forrest were all on a break from 4chan was an absolute pleasure. Much less bitching about this or that from whatever DSP playtest is going on and people actually started to talk about PATHFINDER!
>>
>>47082922
You were just talking in >>47082237 about things being associated with your name, which I'm assuming means you are concerned with how both people in the industry and customers of the industry react to your name. Isn't it worth the few seconds of extra typing to add that clarity, when doing so can keep dirt from being tossed on your name because folks misunderstand who is responsible for certain material? It's like, you're the messenger here delivering our opinions to the appropriate writer, but you're making yourself out like a bad guy when you don't make sure people understand before anything else that you are the messenger in the scenario and not the writer, because otherwise they assume you ARE the writer and then get upset when you explain you can't change things.

I'm not saying you need to run everything we say to Steelforge either, just that you'll probably save yourself trouble by making sure people here in /pfg/ understand the extent of your influence when talking about stuff like this. As cozy as /pfg/ has gotten with DSP this is still 4chan, people will blow misunderstandings way out of proportion if you give them the chance.

And I don't want to sound like I'm accusing you, or that I think you need to go back and somehow undo all the confusion caused by the wording. Hopefully I don't sound rude or abrasive- I'm genuinely trying to be helpful, because my experience has been that it's better to take the time to make sure you're clear with people than end up in the shitter because someone else didn't understand what you meant.

>>47083109
Can't blame you for that, it's a shitty position to be in when you're blamed for stuff that's not your fault. The best I can suggest is making sure that the first thing people hear out of you is that you don't necessarily have the clout/position to fix the problem yourself but that you'll pass what they say to the people who do. Then again, pretty sure I've seen you do that before, so maybe it doesn't work.
>>
Anyone have experience in mixing 3.5 with Pathfinder?
>>
>>47083282
They're the same systems. If you know what stuff to avoid in 3.5, it works just fine. If you don't, google helps.
>>
>>47083233
Can we have that again?
Maybe have them just go away for good again?
>>
What is THE best Pathfinder module (or 3.5 module that's easily compatible with Pathfinder)? Also, what would you recommend I allow/disallow for first-time players?

I've DMed Pathfinder before, but it was a couple years ago, for experienced D&D players, and I rolled my own. Looking for something I can run first, then build my own campaign from there.
>>
>>47083282
You can use most 3.5 things in PF just fine with minimal changes. Properly converting monsters and NPCs is a pain in the ass, though.
>>
>>47083233

>3pp isn't pathfinder
This meme again?

I don't know. Forrest tends to be fairly pleasant and easy to talk to at least.

DSP as a whole could stand to be less aggressively marketing here though.
>>
>tfw I just learned bluing is a thing
>tfw I can now have a black blade forged with gold inlay, or a spear with a fire orange tip and it's historically accurate

Have you ever been encouraged to add neat historical techniques or habits into your games?
>>
>>47083318

Age of Worms.

Actually better for PF than 3.5 because it doesn't make rogues cry nearly as hard.
>>
>>47083143
I probably should take a break, though that's never actually managed to improve anything so far.

>>47083172
Gareth's actually been on here longer than I have. So I was never actually needed.

>>47083216
I could have done a lot of things differently. I explained my position to the best of my ability. Anything beyond that I'll simply have to work on in the future.

>>47083240
I appreciate the advice and support.
>>
>>47083306
>>47083326

My main concern is the balance. PF is a mess already, and I really fear to open a even bigger can of worms by bringing in 3.5 stuff.
>>
>>47083388
Remember, don't take it personally.
>>
>>47083449
It actually makes the martials more useful (3.5 martials were overall stronger) while the casters merely get more interesting.

If the casters were breaking things before, they'll still be breaking things. If they WEREN'T, then it's a non-issue since they've probably got a gentleman's agreement internalized.

Maybe use PF polymorph.
>>
>>47083388
Just expanding on what >>47083240 said, if you're clear about who is actually responsible for writing the material that you are being asked to change (or at least spell out that you aren't the one who is in charge of it) then when you're in a situation like >>47083109 you've got something to fall back on. If people are bitching at you for not seeing the changes they wanted, you can just say "I told you guys up front that I'm not the one writing that and all I could do was pass your ideas along to the person actually writing it." and absolve yourself of any guilt. That should cause most of the blame getting thrown on you to go away.
>>
>>47083449
It's literally the exact same system, Anon. The only things that will break balance are very well documented on forums and can be found in seconds.
>>
>>47082606
Oh fuck off, you're even more grating because YOU YOURSELF think you're important. You've done nothing to show that you're anything more than a sad and lonely anon who posts to get attention. Let's look at it another way: If JJ, Seifter, Buhlman, or Price showed up in the thread, they'd garner more respect and chutzpah than you ever had in your entire time here, because at least they have a body of work behind them (however poor). You? You're nothing.
>>
>>47083449
Like you yourself said, PF is a mess already. As long as you don't indiscriminately allow your players to use any 3.5 material they want, it probably won't make a big difference. You probably ought to be careful with PrCs(especially ones meant for casters) and spells, but most other things will be just fine(or at least, no worse than Pathfinder already has).
>>
>>47083498
some people don't have time to design their own game
>>
>>47083499
I kinda do want to see the paizo devs in here, to see how they handle it.

Still secretly thinking JJ has a mindbreak fetish, desu
>>
>>47083498
>It's literally the exact same system, Anon.

It really isn't. Sure, there aren't any enormous changes, but there are tons of small ones. Many of them for the worse.
>>
Someone explain this to me since I'm a complete idiot.
>An ethereal creature can't attack material creatures, and spells you cast while ethereal affect only other ethereal things. Certain material creatures or objects have attacks or effects that work on the Ethereal Plane.
So what happens when I cast summon monster while I'm ethereal? Are they stuck on the ethereal plane or do they come back with me when whatever effect that causes me to be ethereal expires?
>>
>>47083549
I'd honestly love to see one of them show up and even pretend to take feedback; it means that at least one of them was willing to take a step and see what happened when they threw their name around.

I honestly feel like JJ is just opinionated and not necessarily a bad designer; he's just weak-willed and easy to push around compared to the likes of Buhl "Wizards need buffed and monks need nerfed" Man.
>>
>>47083499
>Projection: the post.
The only thing that would make it more perfect is if you also called him a cuck.

>>47083549
I thought this was confirmed? How many of his "pure and beautiful" waifus have -4 will saves?
>>
>>47083499
>If JJ, Seifter, Buhlman, or Price showed up in the thread, they'd garner more respect and chutzpah than you ever had in your entire time here, because at least they have a body of work behind them (however poor).

Speak for yourself. I might not agree with BP on everything he says, but at least he hasn't actively made the system and setting I play in worse. You say "however poor" like their body of work is "just" bad but that you can ignore it (Seifter excluded, not sure why you're taking a shit on him). If BP spews some dumb shit, we just ignore him. If JJ/Buhlman/Price spews some dumb shit, we get a whole new AP or an unneeded nerf or a line of bad feats from it.
>>
>>47083591
Do I have a name on like I'm pretending to be actually someone important?
>>
>>47083602
>at least he hasn't actively made the system and setting I play in worse.
Not for the lack of trying.
>>
>>47083492
I don't want to drag this back into the mud, but the way that people approach me about things has a huge impact on how willing I am to champion their request.

As an example, the medic. I'm in the process of doing a major rework of the class and when I made that announcement someone posted that they were building an Angel of Mercy/Sanguinist medic, and that they would appreciate it if that combination still worked.

I didn't even write those archetypes with the intention of stacking them, but I'm making damn sure that Angel of Mercy and Sanguinist still stack when all the changes are said and done.

I've fought tooth and nail to bring fan requests into our material, and I enjoy doing it. Just give me a reason to want to do it.

I'm not important at all. The name was a way to organize the cluster fuck of an argument that the kinestistist argument was.

I'm just the only person who actually posts builds. Hence: buildposter.

In fact, I have no idea where the whole "you totally want to be important" thing came from.

It's in the new pastebin: the Charmbound Witch, which is basically just a quickly-smooshed-together way of playing an Occultist/Witch.

Yeah, that's true.

Though to be fair, it's an incredibly stupid business decision to publish a 3pp at all, so I guess that's how DDS and DSP get away with it.
>>
>>47083649
Oh boy. I'm terrible at homebrew but stuff I've been wondering about:

>playable pseudo-mummies
>playable living armor
>homebrew Transmutation spell to trap things in paintings
>playable snowmen
>>
>>47083670

It's because you continue to use a trip code even though the kineticist argument was months and months ago.

It reeks of "look at me! Remember that thing I did? I'm still relevant!"
