Supremacist characters are not restricted to Humans. Ran a brief campaign once (by brief I mean one-session) where the PC's all rolled Halflings, and immediately abandoned the plot I was dangling in front of their faces because they decided they felt like playing as "Halfling Hitler and his companions, Halfling Goering and Halfling Goebbels" who were going to "purge all the non-Halflings from the Halfling lands!".
An amusing idea, I acknowledge, and it might have made a nice parody campaign, but I was fuming mad because I'd spent two months meticulously planning the setting and story, only to have said story abandoned and forgotten about within half an hour of gameplay. By the end of the session, they'd slit the throat of a half-elf bard as she sang, bombed a town of peaceful humans terrorist-style, and joined the bad guy.

I like elves mainly for the weird reason that they keep well. They go for several human lifetimes before you even have to roll to see when you'll die of old age. I play them usually as tight, competence-oriented packages who grew out of immature bullshit about a century ago and are now all business all of the time.
I like playing humanoids. Kobolds, kenku... that sort of thing. I just never get to. Its fun coming up with why they are with the party, and I'm kinda bored of the standard races. Problem is, I know my GM doesn't want me to. He never says no, but there is always this heavy sigh of "what fucking rules and exceptions am I going yo have to make?" So I generally don't bring it up. In my other game, the GM is all about weird shit, but I tend to be forced into the "person who makes rhe story move along" role, and any time I make a character that doesn't fit that, the game just stalls.

Dwarf players tend to thing of themselves as tremendous fun, whether they are or not.
Elf players either love the animu, trees or want to be prettier than they are.
Half-Elves tend to be guilty of this, but to a lesser extent, with a little Mary-Sue for good luck.
Orcs are for powergamers or experienced roleplayers with fun in mind. I've never found a middle ground in my small sample size.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing at all.
One of my favorite characters was a Lawful Stupid, senile, old, Halfling Bard who was convinced he was a Paladin.
The character was legitimately insane but still became the party face. I ended up talking us into as many fights as I talked us out of. Shit was great.
Normally I play the strong silent, introverted characters and I wanted something that challenged my comfort zone. And the comfort zone of my FLGS during league night.

I played an amoeboid in a sci-fantasy campaign in Stars Without Number. I'll go with that.
The amoeboids were the bankers of the universe and their planet was completely laissez-faire. I played my character like Donald Trump.

The fact that we're humans makes human characters more interesting. This is a fact. Not only can we empathise with their character problems more (human character motivations are usually not 'muh trees/gems/planar world/etc), but whoever created their backstory couldn't rely on 'muh different race culture' as a crutch of their character. They had to work harder to make their backstory plausible and thought-out, when asked about their home town couldn't just say 'I'm an elf from 'the East'' and leave it there. It's also much easier to roleplay a human (we've been in the headspace of a human all our lives so we intuitively understand them better) this allows more varied and complex intercharacter dialogue and story.

Once played an aasimar oracle with the heavens mystery. I was trying to go full glorious blinding light Mage. Gold skin, gold metal wings, the works. Every spell I learned had something to do with light in some way. The character also had the impulsive need to help EVERYONE he met, and to always announce himself to his enemies in some way (mostly through a 'THINGS SHALL GET BRIGHT NOW' sort of way).My final goal was to eventually gain the ability to fly long enough to do legit orbital strikes by flying to space.
Of course this requires me to be level 20 so I could be reborn a week later after my blinding meteoric attack of justice.
