There's the issue of certain variations of races not being able to have sparks. Normally, the two rules of thumb for whether something should have a spark is that it should have been born at some point and it should have been born as a sapient creature.

She and DIOMEDES would have probably gotten along in those days. She wanted to free the peoples and creatures living in the East, because no person should have to live under the rule of a tyrant. And she was equally outraged that, to her young and impatient eyes at least, the Valar in all of their power and glory, seemingly allowed Morgoth to run amuck unchallenged. She lost respect for them and lost faith in their judgement. And so she joined with the brash Fëanor and the rest of her kin in travelling across the see. She wishes that Fëanor’s actions had not led to the Kinslaying but, as she said, “The East must be freed, even at the cost of our own lives.” Indeed, she embodied red up until the moment of her death, when her rage in battle against the black wolf that had slain her love cost her her life.

It was many centuries before Gaia finally took a step back and realized what she had become: a monster. She remembered the person she had been, and mourned its loss. She had become cruel and selfish. Pffsh. Personally, I don't see a necromancer that is a Reanimator as being defeated by a priest/priestess. As the Reanimator can bring out any creature first turn. Which the Reanimator would obvious pick something that is hard to deal with. Shroud, Hexproof, Indestructible, or anything dumb like that.
And Unit IV doesn't seem to be a broken flake, just overly complicated in it's concept.
Though, I still don't see Unit IV being able to beat a Reanimator either. You'd need something with either a lot more control to shut down Reanimator before anything gets animated or something that can completely overrun it, like tier 1 Affinity or Sneak and Show.

I would say not a single one, but combinations of cards can totally do it. stuff like Privileged Position comboing with Grafigger's Cage, Greater Auramancy, and Rest In Peace. With a liberal application of counterspells or stuff like Dovescape, you can completely lock down a reanimator. That said, the reanimator can lock down you too, if the catch on to what you're doing early.
In the end honestly, I don't think there's such a thing as an unbeatable walker combination. Even if they have all the crazy bullshit to deal with most decks, there's always SOMETHING that screws their day over. See control decks and Vexing Shusher.

As far as tea goes, I wouldn't say he was ever "high class" enough to drink tea in his youth, but now that age is catching up with him, he would have learned to brew different teas for their medicinal effects to help him out in the wild. I know Magic doesn't try to wear realism on its sleeve, but it seems that the problem I have with Zendikar is that without even a general map of the plane(t), it seems oddly small. The same problem occurs with Innistrad, which seems to be roughly the size of Wales.

Zendikar's actually one of the larger non-Dominaria planes, and one of the few mentioned to have multiple continents (of which two have currently been eaten, though if you're setting things during pre-Rise that shouldn't be a problem)
A town being in a hedron is something that could work well, and would likely be one of the more stable places you could build something - and of course, there's only so much room you can carve out of even the largest of hedrons, especially without hollowing it to the point that it'd get wrecked by the Roil.

Nah, I was thinking doing it post Eldrazi conflict, where things are relatively quiet. My previous game involved a Nyarlathotep-level horror, which makes the Eldrazi sort of a repeat. I'd get bored. I just wanted to involve a ruin from pre-Eldrazi era.

It wouldn't attract it, but it would eventually get hit by it. And then shatter due to being weakened. Though, that said, the Roil is pretty much gone now - it was Zendikar's response to the Eldrazi being bound to it, so with 2/3 dead and the third fucked off to who knows whereaka Innistradthat reaction should be gone entirely. Unless, of course, as the GM you want there to be a reason for it to still be going. That said, when I said something about setting it pre-Eldrazi, I meant 'without involving the Eldrazi' as well - have everything happen a good X years before Rise and the only thing Eldrazi related are the fact that people worship a trio of deities and there's some weird statues sometimes.

If you're doing it post-Eldrazi defeat, then two continents have been wiped the fuck out. Nothing is left of Bala Ged and Sejiri except the chalky, bonelike structures left in Ulamog's wake.
And a third - Tazeem, the former location of Sea Gate and the final battle - is mostly the same as those two, with barely anything there actually LEFT between Ulamog's rampage and Kozilek being called there.
Still, that's four continents with only major damage. And two thirds of the major elven nations are dead!Haha, Nissa's responsible for her entire nation being wiped from the face of the plane.

Well, the idea behind the writing style is to get information at the same pace as the Harpy. This is why you are left without pronouns and names until the Harpy is capable of speaking the names. This is also why I left the communication between the two ambiguous until she learns to speak the words as well. Because she cannot understand him and to give the reader an idea of her frustration.
And as for the Angel attack, I based it off the idea of Crovax. Angels by nature want to kill that which is born in evil. And the Harpy had to defend itself. And it's legend that killing an Angel curses the murderer. Which is proven when Crovax was transformed into a vampire.

I find that generally, the best way to get people interested in your flake is to actually write about them yourself. It doesn't have to be a full story, but anything that hooks it in with other flakes. The more specific, the better.

Well, I don't know how old Gaia is, but Narimi is meant to be a veritable ancient and widely travelled, if you want, they could very easily have met, the real question would be under what terms, and what came of it.
One could have taught the other about worldshaping, for example, or their meeting could have been less beneficial.
