Save states always seemed like a good idea as long as you don't save a second before you get hit by a car or something. A bit like Groundhog Day, but controllable. Broken only as long as you're willing to put effort into it, plus you can win the lottery.

Shapeshifting is quite popular here in /tg/, because you can get multiple, like being able to fly, super strength, super toughness etc.
Transmuting materials is a pretty useful generalist, kind of like shapeshifting except you shapeshift other things
Teleportation is also pretty widely applicable
I dunno. Telekinesis is widely applicable exactly because it's kind of broken. Also depends on how much telekinesis you have. Like, if you can only lift as much as your body can lift, then you gotta get ript to make it useful, or if it can lift only X, and if x is not metric gigantons, the applications change.
Usually, generalist powers are best when you take a completely broken power (such as control of luck, just think about it) and add a limit to it (such as you can use it only twice per day).

Hmm... What about changing the appearance of objects? Such as masking a sword for a dagger and hitting with the part that is invisible? Or making objects invisible, along those lines.
Or... Taking properties of objects to yourself, such as transferring a metal shield to your skin, giving you ironskin?

Now I want that power where you can clone yourself but you can dissolve the clones back into yourself at will when you don't need them anymore. Seems like an easy way to make money without breaking any laws, just send the clones out to do odd jobs for cash while you hang around having a good time and rake in some money at the end of the day without having to worry about the clones rebelling against you.

My friends and I often play a sort of thought-experiment game where we discuss what superpowers we'd like to have, and what "niche" we'd seek out in the resultant capeshit world.
When I was younger I wanted super strength and invulnerability.
These days if I had to pick a superpower, it would be persuasion. The ability to influence large groups of people, and to do it subtly, is far more powerful than the ability to shoot lasers out of one's eyes. Nobody would ever even know I was a Super, I would just slowly take over the world, one speech at a time.

I always figured physical abilities would be the best to have, at least psychologically.
Being hyper-intelligent or mega-social would be incredibly isolating. Human frame of reference or interaction would be so alien.
Then there are powers that seem great, but then the responsibilities that come with them would be absolute ballbreakers, like Healing.
