So basically this?

>ant-man for ants.jpg

>it's completely bullshit
>pc solutions

>players encounter stone coffin
>prior encounters have left them confident there's a mummy inside

>locked door
>didn't have a rogue in the party

Did you have a strong guy in the party? You could have just crowbar'd it open.
>>
>>47013367
One time campaign with random characters. Strong guy is Kung Fury monk and the door was sturdy metal. We had no rouge because the players didn't coordinate characters.
>>
>>47013161
'Conjure Animal' lets you summon up insects? Huh. Otherwise, fucking awesome. Those ants are true heroes to their merciless kind.

Let's see, um, similar story...Oh! I know.

>2nd Ed
>DM has strange homebrew rules
>Had us make PCs as normal, then random-roll 1d3 'background' proficiencies (skill, talent, knowledge, etc)
>Roll up Thief
>NWP: Weaving
>NWP: Architecture
>NWP: Fishing
>okie-dokie.pdf
>DM introduces not!elastic material into adventure for shenanigans
>Buy up quantity of not!elastic
>Weave seabag from not!elastic
>Wizard enchants into Bag of Holding
>fuck_yeah.wav
>Hunting wizards
>Raiding wizard tower, find 'chunk of pure ether'
>empty seabag, add ether
>Seabag of Ever-Holding, bitches

Here's where it got PC Solutions.

>Hunting Wizard #2
>Tower on total lockdown
>Impenetrable fortress o' doom
>DM clearly expects front-door entry, forty floors of whores before epic battle
>Boots of Flying
>Fighter has Belt of Flying
>Cleric has Ring of Flight
>Wizard is Wizard
>"Hey guys, I got a plan."
>Empty out seabag
>Fly over Dickass Tower
>All four grab hold of seabag
>Open wide
>Tower In A Bag

We later dropped the tower onto a city that was covered with an Anti-Life, Anti-Magic dome in order to take out the shield and command center in one shot.
>>
>>47013455
The spell description just says "beasts" so yeah conjure animals works on insects!
>>
>>47013455
On a similar note...
>Necromancers holed up in their tower
>Won't let the players in
>Hold on there's a dwarven fortress nearby
>Cue mining shenanigans
>Dwarves collapse tower
>Players finish off stunned necromancers and remaining zombies

They did end up destroying most of the library in the process, which was why they were there in the first place. So there was a price for their shenanigans.

I have a pretty simple one but for high schoolers I was kinda impressed.

>setting is basically Venice, dueling is huge part of society
>fighter pisses off a really hardcore duelist
>gloveslap.jpg
>magic is of course stictly forbidden in duels and they are highly public events
>wizard casts light and magic weapon on duelists sword
>city guard drags dude away disgraced
>>
>>47013832
That's really quite clever
>>
>>47013650
As per literally every ruleset ever invented, ants are not "beasts", they are "vermin" at best.

I mean while there's no set "ant" entry in the 5e monster manual, "swarm of insects" and even "rat" are listed as beasts sooooo

>Carrying a bag of skeletons because necromancer
>Party gets split up because we were retarded and decided to split up for no reason, each into puzzles clearly designed for group-thinking.
>Barbarian gets stumped by a riddle.
>Eventually gets mad and smashes the riddle tablet, revealing the treasure behind it(and it turned out smashing the tablet was the answer to the riddle).
>Rogue gets taken to an obsidian dragon and nearly dies
>I get sent to an invisible maze, where the walls put you in stasis if you touch them
>I dump my bag of skeletons out.
>A pack of dancing skeletons makes it's way through the maze by throwing pieces of each other around until they mapped out the maze with floating bones.

I should mentioned my Necromancer was a Bard.

>tfw just 20 minutes earlier another party member didn't think carrying a bag of skeletons around was a good idea

>literally every ruleset ever invented
>this is how it works in 3.5 and I generalize its quirks to all of roleplaying because I don't know any better

5th edition dnd places insects and rodents under the category of 'beasts'.
>>
>>47013313
"Wouldn't the fire run out of oxygen before the mummy burns?"

"Better do it two or three more times, just to make sure."
>>
>>47013455
I read that last part as "a city that was covered with an Ant-Life, Ant-Magic dome".
>>
>>47013650
>>47013987
>>47014071

Spell name says animal, though description says 'beasts', that could be a number of things whether you go solely by creature type or not. But it's also pretty obvious the DM was just rewarding creative thinking by giving it to him. Honestly, using a summon spell to pick a single progress-barring lock isn't earth shattering and having exactly 24 regular ants summoned in battle is almost never helpful. Almost.
>>
Conjure Animal uses the word beast in the spell description.

Insects are animals.

I'm actually surprised that there are people who think they aren't.

They're not fungus, they're not plants, neither are they protozoa, bacteria, or chromista.

>party's been in a fight, the battle's mostly one though, there's only one dude left and he's on his last legs
>my tiny little alien star mage has the power to alter her personal gravity, can act as if gravity is in any direction, and this ability can be shared with anyone or anything she's touching
>jump the last dude from behind, grab him around the neck
>pass DEX check
>reverse gravity, send us flying straight up into the air at terminal velocity
>once suitably high, put gravity back normal
And thus is the story of how my plucky little ayylmao patented the "Mile High Suplex"

Do failed PC solutions count?

>exploring weird abandoned wizard's tower, clearly cursed
>we find three potions, but don't know what they do, we'll take them to town to get identified
>on the way out, my character notices a trap door that leads to the basement
>three members of the party go down, find a weird book
>they actually open it, the absolute madmen
>vines start spewing out
>start to actually trap the people down there, keep them from being able to escape
>the vines are growing fast, starting to be an actual thread

It's at this point the party decides to try and use the potions they found on the vines

>throw down the first potion
>the vines suddenly turn fucking invisible
>it's even harder to navigate, but hey, at least we can see the other players again
>throw down next potion
>all of a sudden the vines are covered in wet, squishy things (we would later find out these were eyeballs)
>throw last potion
>the vines turn to fucking stone, but continue to grow

We could have just hacked through them with our swords or something, but now, we had to turn them into fucking invisible concrete vines. Nearly wiped all but two of the fucking party, most embarrassing session of my goddamned life. Destroyed the whole building too. As far as we know invisible concrete vines are slowly destroying the landscape, and will one day consume the entire planet.

Lenin was a fungus, so why not ants?
