Tyranid infiltrators and not!Xenomorphs dating back to the Rogue Trader days. They infect people, the people start up cults that worship them, and the cultists infect more people. The hybrid children start off ugly as sin until future generations look completely normal. The next generation is Genestealer again. They are one of the reasons space hulks are so dangerous as the Hive Mind sticks thousands of them into the hulks. Beware their rending claws for even terminator armor is of little protection. Pic related is a strand of stealers that the Hive Mind wants to avoid for genetic instabilities that grant them their ability to shapeshif, and has been around before the First Tyrannic War.

>>
>>47006776
Combi-weapons and stock power weapons makes them dangerous and cheap. It's the best way to be cost effective with them. Combi-plasma are probably the right way to go for fighting Tau.

Charging into a Riptide to ID it with force could work, but only if you can get past overwatch. It's probably not a bad idea since the Riptide will tank anything else. You might want a force axe to try and get past his armor though.

Hormagaunts are the shit, brilliant rules for such dirt cheap infantry. either tarpit stuff or tear apart enemy Orks / cultists

Force stave + Iron Arm + Force = 3-4 S9 AP2 attacks with ID
>>

>Bombers suck

Why is that? I'm guessing they suck at areal combat, but shouldn't they be excellent at attacking ground?
>>
>>47007055
Naw. termagants to unlock Tervigons as troops, and for late game spawning/objective grabbing.
>>
>>47007152
it's overpriced

2 S7 shots aren't horrible if you're plinking vehicles, and terminators count as stationary regardless of movement.

But more often than not you'll be better off taking the heavy flamer for the odd unit or another combi-bolter for more melta/plasma shots.
>>
>>47007232
Theres no single bomber in 40k thats actually good with bombing and the book really didnt make them any better.
>>
>>47007232
As i understand only the Dark eldar bomber actually has good bombs / weapons, it gets like AP2 or 3 large blasts i think.

That said i don't play DE and never see them on the table, so their must be some crippling weakness to them. Price? FA slot? i wouldn't know.

I do know the Ork bomber is shit for it's pts, and again never see anyone take 'bomber' fliers

>>
>>47007269

Necron forge world bomber is pretty neato.
>>
>>47007211
>>47007232
>>47007269

I have the book. Vendettas not in.

Bombers are bad in dogfights, and all but one or 2 attack patterns only benefit their bomb. That's right; Most bombers only have 1 bomb. (I.E: The dark eldar one). Also. Bombs are dropped in your movement phase, attack patterns bonuses start from the end of a movement phase in which all flyers stand in pattern, to the end of the next movement phase, thus, bombers do not benefit from their attack patterns on the turn they enter from reserves.
>>
>>47007349

That must be an oversight.
>>
>>47007349
Well there you go, straight from the horses mouth.

Forgot that bombs are limited ammunition, yet another weakness since most bombs do poor damage

Say if you have the new book can you see if the Heldrake is in it and where it stands? did Vector strike change at all? finally are any FMC's included?

Thanks.
>>
i wish land raiders didnt suck
>>
>>47007000
Depends on the unit size, but I usually kit 1/3 with Devourers and the rest with Spine Fists. Place Devilgants at the back where they are safer and can better make use of their superior range. The Spine Fists at the front will work as meat shield to your Devils and the Spine Fists Provides better Overwatch which is good because they are more than likely to get removed from the table by your opponent's next shooting and assault phase.
>>47007055
>By the time you get in range with your 12 inch gun, you could have had your fleet unit get slightly closer and charge
Or you could you know Shoot X amount of S4 AP5 and charge for 2X amount of S3 attacks instead of just 3X amount of S3 attacks that Hormagants offer. Hormagaunts have their uses and I5 is good, but Ternagants are hardly useless by comparison
>>
>>47007407
FMCs are not included.

There are basically no changes to any datasheet other than role, 2 new stats (Pursuit and agility) and that all flyers, heldrake included, can be taken in units of 1-4. They do not act as squadrons, but enter from reserves together, with their entry points within 4" of each other, and then, act independently.
>>
>>47007302
Terminators have Relentless special rule which allows them to move, shoot and charge with Heavy weapons as if they were normal Assault weapons
>>
>>47007409
Same. I would love to play my Deathwing but I don't want to shell out so many points for the only transport worth bringing for them. Without them the DW Knights are pretty poopy.
>>
>>47007486
Oh. Damn. That seems super useful.
>>
>>47007460

So i only ask because i assumed this new 'dogfight' phase triggers if both players have a flier. and i wondered what happened if one is an FMC.

Tyranid Warriors.

Honestly they didn't need a new box, but i'm glad i own both old and new. Model wise they are such a massive improvement over the shitty old school buck-tooth warriors.

Lore wise i love the image of them slashing shit apart whilst firing a deathspitter all the while keeping the lesser creatures in line, perfect multi-tasking officers leading on the front line.

Even if the book is weak and S8 wrecks them careful placement and their synapse will keep them alive and valueable, just recently my 4+Prime unit distracted the fuck out of two battle-cannons all game, only losing 2 of them on turn 4 but surviving with smart use of cover + Venomthrope support. I love using them and never play without at least 3.

These guys have bad ass fluff, the model is damn sexy and he is fantastic on the tabletop (when on a bike in a RW Command Squad)

Hive Tyrants. Their models are sexy, fluff is sweet and rules are great, making them very trustworthy on the table. If only they had the access to a 2+, a ++ and Crushing Claws they would be one of the greatest units in the game

Inquisitors really aren't a good way of going about that. The conclave is, though. I keep forgetting about that. I'm a BT player, so I try really hard to forget that we get left out of everything nice.

>>47008314
Well you will have to buy something other than infantry to keep your army balanced, but if you don't like them maybe a doomsday ark? Also do you use any transports for your warriors, and how much terrain do you use when playing, because some intervening building would benefit you as well.

Cost needs to come down, less vulnerable to melta, base transport capacity needs to increase.
It's a schizoid transport that tries to be a tank, but doesn't have the loadout to support either as a dedicated vehicle.

I think the transport capacity should stay. It's a fundamental part of the vehicle and defines the difference between the Godhammer and its the Crusader and variants. They need access to armoured ceramite and blessed hull needs to come back. Even still, >>47008603 has a point. AV is just too squishy at this point. They either need a HUGE point drop or some kind of resistance to all these weapons that completely circumvent the normal mechanics.

Tech Priest
Admech fluff is what got me into 40k and the model and crunch for the cultmech dominus turned out pretty damn great as well.
>>
>>47008719
For an ML2 librarian, you have a 1/3 chance to get a single power from a discipline, with replacement between psykers. If you put two librarians per discipline, you have a 5/9 chance of getting the power you want out of that one discipline. You need to have two powers from two different disciplines. If power selection worked like spells from Fantasy and there were no repeats in an army, it would be easy. As it were, I wouldn't bet on it.

Also, the whole thing turns into a pile of ashes if your opponent take a culexus. I'd hardly call it a strategy.

I'm being evicted from my place tonight, everything is packed up for storage.
>>
>>47008759
Yeah, the tech preists are sweet. My brother plays skit/mech and steel confessors (since they're a real fluffy choice for mechanicus allies), and I've always thought that the mechanicus stuff looks real cool.
Only thing that I don't like is the lack of customization. If and when we get the skitarii-ad mech super codex, they better add more options. The fact that currently you can't do stuff like make the HQ a magos of one of the different branches (like a magos biologis, magos explorator, magos reductor, magos prime etc.) is a fucking crime.
>>
>>47008839
So now you've got a 5-man conclave, a named special character that requires a specific chapter, a big-enough terrain piece to ride, and a hammernator squad in order to...put a single five-man squad into combat. That is capable of - at most - killing one squad a turn. Sure. Go for it.
>>
>>47008909
Shoot, what I'm thinking is that the current codexes are like testing phases, and when they release the Combined AdMech codex, there'll be a ton of new rules and most likely models to coincide with this.

It's tough but I gotta go with the ironclad dreadnought. I remember lusting after the model long long ago before I even played, thinking the armor, the industrial cc arm, the hurricane bolter rack and the missile pods looked awesome.

When I finally got one I had a great time painting it, it was surprisingly easy. Finally playing with it... that 13 armor drop podding in with ironclad launchers and heavy flamers does not disappoint. I love getting him stuck in with fearless units who lack S7+ in CC. What a great distraction unit to take attention from my heavy weapons.

So this is mainly just to play against my little brother's Orks, nothing too competitive, and we both generally like assaulting. Grimmy rides in the LRC with the large crusader squad. I wouldn't say they're that bad. I mean, a competitive list is going to be comprised entirely of librarians, purifiers, and dreadknights. No argument. But for casualish games, they're alright. Yeah that's what I meant. Not that GK can't be good it's that "a pure GK list is limited to purifiers and DK". A pure vanilla marine, Eldar, Tau, or Necron list has many many good choices in comparison.

Psycannons are not sufficient. I'm considering switching most of my librarians over to technomancy and just haywiring the piss out of everyone.

What's the army that takes the least amount of skill to play and why is it Ravenwing?

Also, why is there literally no reason not to play Farsight Enclaves over regular Tau? Jesus fuck, GW, you could have at least tried to make the two factions distinctive.
>>
>>47010349

If you want to run a lot of troops, Farsight enclaves is a bad idea. Bonding knife taxes add up if you actually bother to take no PM-battlesuit infantry.
>>
>>47010246
The kff would just give targets within 6" a 5+ save which is kind of meh, unless I'm missing something. I guess because it's a flyer you don't have to worry about scattering your blast back on to yourself. It's basically a bomb at that range but without the drawbacks of being an actual "bomber" or being a single use weapon.
>>
>>47010349
Tau are the bottom of the skill barrel. Point and shoot. Oh no they have cover, fuck 'em marker lights. They're getting close, fly away with jump packs. If you can't win a game as Tau then you must be the greatest foe of the dice gods. They've got more access to cheese than the entire Kingdom of the Netherlands.
>>
>>47010349

Bike armies take no skill to play because they are units that act like good melee units (TWC, Wraiths, Khornehounds) but without any of the decision making or tactics of assault. You simply shoot at things instead then vroom vroom away. Plus they have scout moves to start herp derping one turn faster.

The only decision bike armies need to make is how to not build the army like a fucking idiot, which is easy since you know it's all bikes, how to scoot your bikes around on the table, which is easy: into the range of your guns and not into the easiest spots to get blown away by enemy guns. Your only real decisions are whether or not to use your free miracle 50% save jink.

It's like asking why assault armies are braindead if they could move 24" a turn and use their melee weapons like guns.
>>
>>47010430
Just shoot the pathfinders. They die easy enough. Boom; entire shooting army is locked at shitty BS3.
Also, I play CSM; the note on the Tau was an observation.
>>
>>47010349
>Also, why is there literally no reason not to play Farsight Enclaves over regular Tau? Jesus fuck, GW, you could have at least tried to make the two factions distinctive.
Bonding knife tax making everything 1 point more expensive.

Other than that, yeah, it sucks. I enjoyed playing farsight enclaves despite everyone telling me how subpar and worse it was than just going straight Tau Empire. Because damn, outside of the earth caste pilot, those signature systems are bad and overcosted, or fills such a small niche that there is not much use for them in a competetive sense, especially compared to the vanilla signature systems. But fuck, i will probably never NOT take a fusion blade commander again. Shit is just too fucking hillarious.

Making fire warriors one point more expensive pushes them straight into "don't bother" territory, so there is also that.
>>
>>47010430
My first interaction with Tau was pretty recent. We only had one Tau player at my old LGS. Some guy with Aspergers who had hundreds of models but refused to paint them. He never actually played, he just argued why Tau was the strongest army. So when I moved to an actual city I went to the local GW for a kill team event. I ran a basic squad of CSM (I dont play CSM I had bought the models specifically to paint something different) and had some good games. And then I faced the guy with the unit of unpainted crisis suits. It was an eye opener.
>>
>>47009655
>its fertile
They sure are!
>>
>>47010658
>>47010463
Thing about Tau is they can basically outshoot everyone without issue having the best basic infantry gun in the game and tons of S10 AP1 weapons. Their supposed downside is they suck in melee. I've basically never seen a Tau player get more than a small number of delaying infantry caught in melee. Basically every suit is impossible to catch because they can jet jump. Yeah if the player plays poorly you can catch some fire warriors, but good luck taking down that riptide with anything short of massed lascannon fire. Which brings us back to them being able to out shoot everyone, you're not going to win a long range shoot out without running IG infantry blobs and even then there so many high S low AP pie plates for the Tau that it doesn't matter.

Not very hilly terrain, though. Mostly flat plains. A few valleys here and there, but no vegetation there, either.

Everything they said we purely innocent, maybe you should try looking in a mirror before you accuse someone of having a dirty mind?

It allows me to fill the rest of list up with lots of poison, fleshbane and ID. It's a shame it's a special rule that hurts it and not gets hot otherwise it would go really well with my divination psykers.

Wait, are you seriously upset over this?

It's only a bit of light fun and you should be glad there is someone who still knows the sister of battle exist in this day and age!

its probably a 'woman' or a fag.

they are the ones who get triggered when their little superiors get brought up

Well if you know what you're doing, you can probably work around the relatively short range.

My main concern is that, much like the Hemlock Wraith Fighter, if it jinks you lose the ability to even use said Blasts.

I'm the guy who asked for help and I don't actually like sexualized lollies, in fact lollies ruin sexual things for me.

So space marines go rogue and renegade all the time, why are there no space marines working with xenos in the lore? I mean world eaters would love hanging out with orks (and the orkz would probably love a good scrap with them from time to time), some hedonistic (but non slaneeshi) marines would love a good time with the DEldar, and maybe some might agree with the Tau point of view.

I can't think of a single renegade space marine that hangs out with Xenos though. Is "fukken xenos!" that ingrained into their minds?

you can admit you are gay bro its ok

I think I might give it a chance. Being a flyer helps mitigate the range issue, and a 1/6 chance of ID could be a nice boon.
