Most people worship it, since no one knows what it wants. It's yellow so they probably assume that it's the sun god.
The moon though, the moon is massive hyper advanced AI, it would probably know what it wants. So it summons the party, all under the guise of a friendly deity, and gives them a quest to preform a song using some ancient MacGuffin instrument.Then it atomizes the face while they distract it with song. It can't risk them losing the second round.
