hey guys, im running a game of WFRP set in endhammer (i posted here earlier) and i have a friend that after watching this, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vf3Wj_d-aOE was wondering if there was anything like that he could play. after a few moments of thinking i realised he could be a bloodbowl player, and i was wondering if anyone had made stats for a bloodbowl player in WFRP 2E. If not how would you guys handle this. I was thinking he would use his constitution and armor as his weapon and fight by grappling and tackling. Also id just like to add that im totally on board with this, i gave the player the condition of making it fit the sitution and he did

Why not man? im not gonna have him rolling around like fucking sonic the hedgehog, but correct me if im wrong, bloodbowl is still a canon sport within the WFB universe. The idea of a bretonian Bloodbowl Chav disillusionned with his noble life style traveling the world to beat the shit out of people and become a hero using his bloodbowl skills sounds pretty good. The problem comes in with implementing it, its a fun concept i just dont know how to do it.

1) People will care about Fantasy lore, because unlike Age it has a clear setting.
2) Just because it has tourney rules doesn't mean it'll be popular. GW is notorious for terrible balance, and interest in all GW products is waning as it is.

The damage is already done. Pretty much every tournament in the US at least has swapped to KoW. People are finding themselves incredibly happy with the product, and no-one I've spoken to has any intention of going to AoS even if they staple on point costs.

So? 40k is still playing in ETC so will be AoS, when 9th Age will be BTFOed.
>>
>>46900197
it's like saying LotR is dead setting because it's no longer updated and it has its final end described (as prophecy, but still)

or sayin our world is dead because we already know how Ragnarok will unfold
>>
>>46898739
9d6 shot mean 7 wound on average.
Then the space marines have a 3+ rerollable. Which mean you'll probably do 1 or 2 wound, so not even Killing a standard dude
>>
>>46900197
How is a setting "dead" when nothing ever advancing is the norm?

The problem with Age lore is it is advancing without allowing the setting to catch up.

There's no maps of the Realms, characters are getting entire story arcs while other things go barely mentioned, and everything is seen through the eyes of one of two factions; Sigmarines or Archaon's.
>40k is still playing in ETC so will be AoS, when 9th Age will be BTFOed.

9th is not a product, dumbass. Its just a balance for 8e. It can't be BTFO because it doesn't have a profit margin because it isn't being sold.
>>
>>46897205
With some luck they will backpedal the entire setting too

comfy.
Are treemen any good in 8th
they seem decent enough except for the fact that i dont really see use for it in anything but a melee heavy list
>>
>>46900525
I haven't really read the AoS rules as such. How the fuck does not having the same points as your opponent even work?
>>
>>46900507
>some

Bit of an understatement.

Even IF GW was willing to admit they made a mistake they have spent so much money on making all these shitty AoS models they will keep selling them.

Also GW is too incompetent to be trusted with WHFB anymore, basically all new fluff after the early 2000's has been inferior.
>>
>>46900022

It is far more likely that GW has lost those tournament bases forever. AOS is nothing like WFB and basically there is nothing new to bring them back into the fold.

Points AOS could create its own tourney scene, but it is unlikely to replace what exists now.
>>
>>46900707
He is making a joke based on the fact the AoS rules do not even attempt balance and exist only to facilitate models sales.

That is why there are no limits and you can take whatever models you like from any army.
>>
>>46900707
Just don't be a cock about list construction.

>>46900702
Sorta, all treemonic legion units blow in 8e because GW thought the wood elf book should revolve around elves.
>>
>>46900702
yes. they are quite tanky, they have some shooting and even WE need an avil from time to time. as long as you keep them away from flaming attacks, they rock

oh, and Lore of Beasts buffs just make them obscene

>>46900718
meh, D&D 5 brought back not only 3ed-style rules, but also Planescape-like cosmology. Blizzards of Tabletop can admit mistakes and go back to better stuff, so there's hope.
>>
>>46900702
they are quite stronk in 9th. 9th shines for Forest Spirits all round
>>
>>46900755
Its a lot cheaper for them to do that though.

Not only is GW actively spiteful towards its former long term fans but it has hundreds of thousands or millions invested in moulds that nobody likes. Its going to want to try and make more money out of them.
>>
>>46900492
>It can't be BTFO
It can ETC just replca 9th AGe by AoS and that's all.
>>
>>46900707
AoS does not have point values and either relies on the players alternating on deploying units until they feel like the game could feel balanced or play a scenario where the forces are not supposed to be necessarily equals.
>>
>>46900747
>Just don't be a cock about list construction.
The problem is you can't trash talk when you win if there's no army comp rules to fall back on.

Beating Banner Lions in 8e with Tomb Kings is cause for celebration. In Age, without a proper balance mechanism then everything comes down to "clearly player 1 just didn't put enough good models on the table".
>>
>>46900800
Except Age is literally there to be something to play that isn't Age.
So it "wins" no matter what because many, many communities have no Age players.
>>
>>46900833
Not to mention that what some people think is 'being a cock' others innocently and honestly think is entirely reasonable.
>>
>>46900800
Seriously, by the number of posts one could think you'd have learnt how to communicate in written english.
>>
>>46900900
Just look at AoS shills flipping out over points.

Some say "Oh teh noes, the return of a billion mandatory Slaves!" and others say "Ermagerd, not the armies packed full of large models and heroes!"

That alone tells you that people's version of what kind of list is a dick move to bring is entirely subjective and contrary to each other.

Having a proper points system with balanced counters, advantages, and disadvantages at least makes everything viable so the only list you have to worry about is your own and how it reacts to different situations.

But Age is a clusterfuck where any problem is solved by "bring more and/or bigger models" and when playing alternative scenarios (because the main battle is just a boring punchup in the middle) entirely fuck over entire lists.
>>
>>46900993
Seems to me that any game where you have to rely too much on your opponent not being a cunt is open to massive abuse.

Feels like GW being so incompetent in redressing the awful balance issues in eg. 40k that they came up with a system so they put that onus on the players.

Would be great if every single player was an experienced and fair game designer.

Luitpold von Holswig Schliestein grimaced at the squat, brick building at the end of the cobbled road. It sat like a hunchback at the top of the hill; mishapen and looming over the neighborhood of poorly-built shacks and tenements. What had once been a place of community gatherings and drunken merriment was now a filthy, broken wreck. A tusked, red face was crudely daubed on the door and many of the windows were shattered. Even yards away, the Prince of Reikland and Averland could hear the raucous voices inside.

"Are you... sure that you don't want us to just burn the place down?" Lieutenant Gustav asked. He leaned over in his saddle to get the ear of the Emperor-to-be.

Luitpold pinched the bridge of his nose and wondered if his father had ever had to treat with Orcs.

They hadn't yet made it into charging distance when the noise from the tavern died down into angry questioning. Windows were re-broken and ugly, loaded crossbows began pointing out of the tavern's cracked walls until it looked like a pincushion.

"OI! 'OO GOES DERE?! Don't you come no closer 'less you got more mead. We's been waitin' for three, stinkin' days!"

The Lieutenant bristled but Luitpold spoke before his subordinate could insult their unwanted guests. "Luitpold von Holswig Schliestein. I've come to speak with your chief."

Murmuring. Angry cursing. More confusion. Finally. "OI! RUGLUD! HUMIE PRINCE WANTS YOU, BRUV."

"DA FUCK YOU WANT, HUMIE PRINCE?!"

Ruglud, the Armored Orc, did have a way with words. The door to the tavern kicked outward and out stomped a massive, green figure, covered in a makeshift suit of armor made from old Tilean and Imperial scraps... though there appeared to be a few Dwarfish bits here and there. The orc jabbed a fat choppa into the ground and hefted his stolen crossbow on one shoulder... then he hawked a loogie in front of the Prince of Reikland.

The models are shit and getting shittier with even worse prices (90 AMERIBUCKS FOR THREE MAN-SIZED FIGURES), but they're resurrecting the Specialist Games, pimping out the IP for some really good video games, and actually have a small degree of community interface now.

Its getting better, just FAR too late for us. The 40kfags will benefit from it, and the small number of genuine Agefags will too.

Hey, if we're lucky Blood Bowl will come back strong and they'll bring back Mordheim. Maybe even Man O' War.

I have an Island of Blood set, and my community plays 9th Age.

Because GW panicked about the fact they printed a metric fuckload of Gorkamorka sets in Spanish they couldn't sell by mistake?

I said better, not good. They're still in the absolute shit PR range.

Also, redshirts wouldn't call you a badger-fucking cunt still suckling his mother's teat when not taking it up the ass for pocket money to throw at your plastic crack addiction. A redshirt also wouldn't say you're still at least much better to deal with than Games Workshop.

>1) If YOU will lucky. 2)none cares about AoS here, so fuck off.
Hey, a lot of us want to play Blood Bowl on the tabletop with better looking minis than the third parties have available. Have you found a good proxy for Skaven Gridiron players? Because I fucking haven't.

Also, who the fuck brought up Age? Because I mentioned Agefags, not the game.
>>

>>
>>46912681
I would because it comes with the bits to make a screaming bell and a warp lightning cannon off of the furnace and catapult kits respectively the cannon you're going to want at least 2 anyway, the 20 plague monks are a bit too small for a unit but if you pick up another box of 20 for cheap you'll have more than enough also they're fun with a plague banner.

Hell, they could probably just email the 9th age people and ask for the following

- Rules for Sigmarines, Orcmarines, and Mirrordwarves

in exchange for making 9th age's rules an official project. I'm sure that the 9th devs would jump at that.
>>
>>46912948
How is that two headed guy? I've been eyeballing him for a while could you post a pic next to something? I haven't had a chance to play 9th since my playgroup is all about Offical fantasy stuff but monks have been pretty solid and with a plague banner it's pretty hard to beat that volume of attacks rerolling to hit and to wound, but no you can do just fine with Clan rats, Slaves, and Stormvermin. To tell you the truth if you could afford it I would get 2 since you'd get 40 monks which is more than you need a furnace and a bell, 2 plague priests and a spare grayseer, and 2 cannons which with the IoB box is an amazing start especially since you have the Abom already

He's really good. Almost no mold lines, they did have very thick chunks on the bottoms of the feet and back of the two heads that I had to saw off and file down. But the casting was perfect. I got mine secondhand, but only one fingernail was broken off meaning he was probably undamaged when new. Glued it back on no problem.

The problem is the preview image shows him with his feet and one knuckle on the ground flat, but when you assemble him the knuckle is in the air when his feet are on the ground. Pic related shows that (not my image). You have to put something between base and knuckle as a result, but that's not a big deal. Like a rock or something.

He goes together really well, gaps aren't too wide and they're at the flat part so they're easy to greenstuff.

I left the tusks off the sides of the face on mine, they kind of distract from the monster-y look that I like.

I'm keeping his dick and balls on, some people sand them off. Makes him looks more plausible in a strange sort of way though, like they pumped him full of mutagenic shit to make him grow instead of just sewing smaller Skaven together like the Rat Ogres look. Like Ratzilla and Frankenrats.

Honestly, I'd recommend him 10/10.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to look over the Age Skaven myself then, maybe I'll throw in some evaluation on it when I get some playtesting in. I obviously can't compare it to 8th very well for people transitioning but I'll do my best to give my thoughts.

I guess the same people who had lived most of their lives in unwalled towns in fields or in their "major" city that had a single wooden palisade. I think it's a miracle Rohan had a castle with a stone wall at all.

Saruman was fucking retarded. Not sure why he was in a hurry. Gondor was getting fucked up by Mordor, and Rohan didn't have the military strength to take fortified positions it seems. Instead he sends his entire army to assault a heavily fortified position instead of just taking and holding land, burning farms, and otherwise growing his forces.

I thought it was retired because they damaged the mold and didn't want to bother fixing it.

Ah, you're right. The master model apparently needed some repairs done and would require quite a bit of time to achieve and the borrowing of one or more sculptors from more pressing projects. The original sculptor apparently no longer worked for FW at that point.

I probably got mixed up because they then go on to say that some models simply are removed because as they produce new stuff they need room and so their solution is to cull what isn't really selling.
>>
>>46915227
Yeah, I think the Tau Orca was a model where they decided was taking up too much room and wasn't selling so they got rid of it all together.

Slav, you've said over and over, at least three times in this thread, that the thread is dead.

First of all, you should realise that nobody cares about you. You are just sad.

Second, the WHFB generals go faster than AoS ones and, although far from the 40k generals, they are among the most active threads in tg.

Now go beg some food to your local oligarch. And English lessons while you're at it.

Has anyone got some guidelines for board size in relation to points?

I'd like to fast-track standardising my games and create modular settings for them, but think that there are a number of factors that come into play when it comes to this.

4' x 6' is the standard, and that's good for 2000 points with d6+4 large terrain pieces, but with less points the game favors high movement and high range too much without a lot more terrain that blocks line of sight, and with more points you've got very limited maneuverability unless you decrease the number or size of the terrain features. It just seems like it's either too luck based or rock-paper-scissors. I'd like to play Combat Patrols and 4000 points or have 3 vs 3 with 1500 points each.

Any ideas or guides for how to include terrain pieces in the army points? Wood Elves have an item, Acorn of the Ages, for 100 points that grants one type of d3 woods anywhere on the board, arguably providing Scouts and Waywatchers with a huge bonus, restricting an enemy unit by a great deal or allowing a caster with a 40 point magic item or Drycha to create devastating rear/flank threats. Do other armies have similar terrain altering abilities or items?
>>
>>46905455
Is your superglue old or has had too much air exposure?

Those two factors are a constant problem for me.

But yeah, pinning and scoring are key.
>>
>>46919082
4x4 for smaller games i suppose?
i think the acorn is d3+1 woods and one army special rule lets them bring one forest already?
i dont think other armies have terrain creating things outside of the brb item that lets you build a watchtower
>>
>>46919082
>Do other armies have similar terrain altering abilities or items?
Wood elves are the only ones, in older editions the woods came free and automatically when deploying the elves too
Maybe the other army was daemons but I cannot recall exactly how this was a thing
Pricing buildings is a bit tough, but you could use fozzrik's folding castle as basis for that

For tables I prefer to use 2x2 up to 1000pts, 4x4 up to 1850 and 4x6 up to 3000/4000 (depends on how many points are spent on big stuff rather than numerous troops)
>>
>>46900702
They are a mediocre lord level unit in your Rares. They get popped off easily enough with all manner of ranged attacks if they have to march all the way into the fray from your deployment. Can be useful as a dispensable target, they're like cannonfire magnets, but I think they are only really good at 2250+ points with Drycha summoning them in.
>>
>>46919172
>Wood elves are the only ones, in older editions the woods came free and automatically when deploying the elves too

They still get a free wood, the acorn only gives more above that.

That's true, but then your lv4 has no ward saves (or even worse, you have a naked combat lord), and you'll have 2 less ranks of glade guards.

>Any ideas or guides for how to include terrain pieces in the army points?

You can go and just give terrains a point cost 40k fortifications-style. Whether or not these costs will be deducted from the army's points or are part of a distinct 'terrain pool' is just a matter of convention, I can see both working out fine.

Yeah, Fozzrick's. Good call. The Acorn is not without its cost. The entire magic item allowance is a big deal, especially considering the base cost of the Lord/Lord level caster. And, in addition to the free forest on your side of the table during deployment, the random terrain table puts a forest on a roll of 7 with 2d6...

Anyways, imo your lv4 should have a ward in most cases (the cost of the Unicorn is simply too high in case of a hero level caster), or in case of taking the Acorn should probably be with a unit of sisters or tucked away with a small bunker of glade guards.

In either case, the MR doesn't worth losing LoS. I'd say strictly a fluff choice.

If you go by the rulebook, yes, but it got corrected a bit after the arrival of the demigryphs in a FAQ: When riding you use the higher values for wounds and toughness.
>>
>>46919777

Not sure what your question is.

LoS: Look Out Sir
>>
>>46919777
Ah. the errata DOES add mount's toughness to the ways in which monstrous cavalry is different from normal. My chickens have been buffed
>>
>>46919814
Sorry, I got confused with "Look Out Sir" and "Line of Sight". I don't know how I connected Fast Cav in there. Yeah, I'd really like to use Unicorns, but I don't see how the handicap is worth to ascetics.

Awesome. I really need to print out all the errata. They've finished with 8th, right? There wont be any more E&As? for 8th

>>46919848
Giant Eagles have T4 and W3... There we go. Now, if I can just find definitive answers to joining units.

The look on my oponents face when I brought them against his slaanesh daemon faggotry last week was priceless.

>"..4+ to wound.."
>"5s"
>"w.wa?"
>>
>>46919920

The answer is no unfortunately. Characters can't join flying or chariot units.
>>
>>46919947
Bah. I was hoping that a Flier (Giant Eagle) could join a unit of Fliers (War Hawks). Getting a Giant Eagle to join an infantry unit being legal is very silly but I can't see anything that rules against it.
>>
>>46919981
Stuff about that is more GW forgetting those cases exist than anyting else

IIrc there was a similar problem with pegasi and terradons; if I were you I'd quickly houserule it into the game with your enemy before starting.
It doesn't even seem like giving a big advantage after all so I doubt anyone will have something to say.
>>
>>46920135
True. I like as few houserules as possible, but am certainly open to common sense ones.

To be fair to GW, it's a pretty huge game, even if it seems like a fairly obvious situation. But it does have a few more to it than it first appears. Fliers are Skirmishers so they get the -1 to hit, free reform, fire on the march, etc, etc. I'll have to look up Pegasi and Terradons.
>>
>>46906501
>>46919132
okay, scoring it is then

since it's the only way i can conceivably score in the nearest future

No, just no faggot. Maybe just stop cheating next time ? They are cavalry and not MONSTROUS cavalry, both in 9th age and 8th.
>>
>>46919981
it isn't legal, IIRC. fliers, mosnters and chariots can't join units
>>
>>46920317
so? all cavalry use highest T in 9th

>mfw Glade Lord on Great Stag in T5 now
>>
>>46914150
Before explosives, at best the enemy would be able to tear out the grate, and even then that wasn't much of an opening since it was only large enough for maybe one or two men at a time, so it could be easily held.
>>
>>46920341
I don't have the Errata or FAQs, so there is almost certainly something in there, but Characters can join units of In, B, Cav, MI, MB or MC. Cannot join a unit of Monsters, Fliers, Chariots, Swarms or Warmachines. Characters that are monsters, are on monsters, or in chariots cannot join units. Previously, the BRB made the distinction that Monstrous Beasts were not Monsters. So while a flying character, or a character on a monstrous beast that can fly, can join a unit, they can't join other characters on fliers (making a unit of characters) nor can mounted characters join Skirmishers...

I could have something wrong, I've read over the applicable sections in the BRB pretty throughly but don't have the FAQs on hand. This is bloody convoluted.

What is in the WHFB equivalents of Australia and North America? I think that Australia is full of beast men and NA is full of elves but I'm not sure about this. I have the rest of the world figured out but these two places I'm not so sure on
>>
>>46920817
North America is full of Dark Elves. I'm not sure Australia exists...
>>
>>46920817
Naggaroth and america are the dark elves, malakeiths sundering is pretty much the civil war from crazy old british perspective.
Lizardmen are south america.

Australia is a hard one to place.
>>
>>46920817
Elves as in Dark, High and Wood? I would have gone with Empire myself. I'd say Aust is ... There isn't really a Chilled Out faction in WHFB. Maybe Tomb kings. Or OK. Probably OK.
>>
>>46920817
Wait, are we applying a WHFB allusion to the Real World or what WHFB took from the real world as influences?
>>
>>46909032
Much appreciated, anon.
>>
>>46920916
The Warhammer World looks a lot like the real world, so you could call Cathay China and Norsca Norway.

Yeah I was kind of vague. Sorry. I was talking about WHFB races in the real world's geography's locations. What the fuck is there?
>>
>>46909135
It's still there it's just been moved
>>
>>46920979
Yep, and you could say that those factions take influences from those countries. But you could also say that the Columbia population is most similar to Skaven or Dark Elves, and High Elves, with the Wood Elves/Lizardmen being wiped out. People from the USA would mostly be OK and O&G, but it's such a diverse place you'd probably find people that are similar to every race in WHFB.

All whfb faggot dropping thousands on AoS since the point announcement is hilarious

More like 40k players buying Orks. Check out the 40k ork fansites, they are all over them.
>>
>>46912951
Learn proper grammar you piece of shit or go back to vk.com and jerk off to gay videos about Putin being buttfucked
>>
>>46921158
If 40K player are buying AoS miniatures, then AoS miniature still sell.
Not only AoS miniature are so good they outsell WHFB, now they cannibalize even 40k Sales.

That's like saying : Avatars of war Witches don't sell since they are used in 9th Age.
>>
>>46921102
I'd say that's only true for the old world and the south america part of the new world. North America is nothing like it actually was, because the Dark Elves came long before anything else could rise up.
>>

I wouldn't be surprised if the Dark Elves enslaved them either way. GW has long lost the boner it had for the Native Americans.

Incorrect.

Maelstrom was originally a shitty company, the guys that ran it into the ground sold off all the assets.

The Mierce of today is unrelated to the Maelstrom of yesterday except having all the sculpts.
>>46918991
Now you know you can use Spellweavers as Ariel though.

>>46919132
>>46920313
WRONG.

You glue metal using a sheet of tissue paper, or paper towels if you split the layers. Something so thin you can oartially see through it.
Glue the metal on one side, apply that paper, glue the other side. Becomes like cement.
>>46919981
In 9th Age, anything can join a unit of anything. Play that if you have a chance, much better system.
>>46920817
WFB Australia was only ever mentioned in passing, and is pretty much undefined except "Thar be monsters".

AoS doesn't need a shills to sells better than Fantasy (>>46921107 ), unlike Mantic or some fanmaded shit.

I heard the CEO is the same guy, among others.
