unlikely given that GW is trying to market heavily to teen boys who would feel uncomfortable playing with female models

I mean really, people sperg out when someone roleplays a female character in PF or D&D, so much so that my sister who spends 10 hours a week on PF, now only plays male characters.
>>
>>46847316
I started the hobby almsot two years ago and once I found my FLGS and stopped playing at GW (which I have been at my FLGS for ~8months) it has been fantastic. I never really played at the GW but just enough to realize it was terrible by comparison. Just had a game tonight that came down to the Turn 6 (one turn passed the end when you have to start rolling to continue). It was my first time against GK and a Knight (FW variant at that). A fantastic match.

He used those new psychic powers and had a Deathstar that was durable and heavy hitting but by turn three or four I had moved most of my army away from it and took out the knight (knight was on four forsure).

He had some crazy Heresy FW model that scored a bunch of points but thank god I got that extra turn because otherwise he wouldve ended the game with a tie.

The Emperor is an Old One, who were sexless. Wake up people! He clearly lived beneath the Earth's surface until he knew his time had come!

Although more seriously, the Emperor is probably an Old One. His own explanation of his existence is stupid, as any species could have replicated it easily but none of them ever tried. There were how many thousands of Xeno species that never came up with merging their psykers, including humans a second time?

But if he is an Old One, it makes sense that his psyker powers are so amazing, that he knows so much about biological engineering, and that his genetics made the primarchs so inhuman.

>>
>>46847650

Maybe the shaman-merging required a level of calmness in the warp which hasn't been seen since. It's canon that warp travel/being a psyker used to be a lot less dangerous. Perhaps anyone who tried the same thing now would just end up all "no john u r the demons."

If he was an Old One he probably wouldn't have told the Eldar to fuck off prior to the Heresy and would have been less of a retard about pretty much everything. That's how you can tell he is certainly human: he fucking sucked at making good decisions.

The Old Ones made the Krork and Chaos, I cannot imagine a more fucked up series of decisions than the ones they made.

Also it would explain his policy towards Chaos, as he lived before daemons and underestimated the level of integration into the universe they had made.

Also the Eldar and Ork gods are clearly old ones who live in the warp.

Ephrael Stern is the same as the Emperor, a thousand souls fused into one, and funnily enough she also works the same as the perpetuals BL added to the HH (When she dies she just comes back to life, essentially immortal). So my guess is that the process that created the Emperor was tried several times later creating a bunch of perpetuals yet none of them are the New Man, none were succesful only to stave off their real death.

Am I the only one who would have preferred the Exorcists getting their own unique chapter tactics?

Seriously, these guys bind dæmons to themselves, and then forcefully exorcize them using only their own willpower, making them invisible to them.

Seriously, some sort of bonus against dæmons, and then if not fighting them/chaos, some other bonus, or even just that as an extra bonus alongside some other chapter tactics.

I mean, look at their named character, this primarch hueg guy who's better at slaying dæmons then Kaldor Sue.

The fact that she is the go-to famous female scientist that is the only one people can reference, and whose contributions aren't nearly as great as the many male scientists proves females are inferior at science, and most things compared to men. Even their outliers like Curie are inferior to male outliers. It's why fields like technology, science, and mathematics are dominated by men, and why athletics is segregated by sex.

Women are the inferior gender at most worthwhile pursuits.

Both the 13th founding chapters should have unique tactics. To me the Death Spectres' fluff doesn't seem to fit just using Raven Guard tactics, which is what I assume you are supposed to do, and they even got their own decal kit from GW so it's not like they're completely forgotten.

But Exorcists are pretty unique and should definitely have their own.

I liked it a lot better when grey knights were a special chapter that bent the rules - the best and most elite warriors against the worst and most dangerous nightmares the warp has to offer. Wait a minute.

Both these guys and the Red Hunters work for the Inquisition.

These guys are far cooler, and have their own named character as well, but no unique chapter tactics/technically any chapter tactics. Our Spiritual Liege is actually of the Exorcists. So is every other important character. Pedro, the High Marshal, etc. Who ISN'T an Exorcist?

The Red Hunters have chapter tactics, and cool fluff. But they cannot take any named characters, because they have chapter tactics. And one of their chapter tactic rules is now obsolete, due to all Imperium armies now being battle brothers.

As for fluff they've been fucked by tyranids really badly, lost their world and nearly the entire chapter including the chapter master. Enjoying it quite a bit. My Necrons have grown to a considerable size and continue every day, though I do more buying and building than I do painting sometimes. My Daemons lay to the wayside because I really don't like that playstyle and will probably sell them off for something like... Space Marines perhaps, or Nurgle CSM.

I'm having lots of fun playing 40k right now. It's not a perfect game, but it's a fun one as long as you play with decent people. And really, what more can you ask for?

Man, I never really paid much attention to these guys before but they're actually pretty cool. Adding them to the "Chapters that aren't completely fucking stupid and derivative" shortlist in case I ever decide to start up some SM.

It probably helps that I have an intense fear of sharks, so they seem spooky in a way loyalists usually don't

>>
>>46849110

I think they have more than enough fluff. They just need more appearances. They have Badab War and that's it. Every other appearance is a short one paragraph blurb from IA2 shared with many other chapters for Pentarch of Blood or were things found in the Badab books to describe their background. They have no real campaign info other than Badab.

But this is the same for all Badab only chapters. Minotaurs got their own IA, Red Scorps are a pet FW chapter with many IAs and campaigns, and the other chapters are featured GW ones like RG, Salamanders, etc.
>>
>>46849739

They're not literally sharks though. Using shark imagery and being raging dicks is less dumb than a lot of other chapters.
>>
>>46849780
>They're not literally sharks though.
>have shark teeth and the whole pale/solid black eyes (like all raven guard)

>>
>>46849780

RT Space Sharks were pretty goofy but still not full shark mode like SW are full wolf mode.

People say the new Space Sharks are retarded and too grimdark but they're basically tribal marines with tattoos and some shark teeth/bone imagery. They're the Maori/New Guinea/whatever islander marines, done in FW style.

/tg/ has made much more stupid and corny marines, like those Aztec jaguars that are literally swinging around obsidian Aztec swords and wearing leopard print power armor.

I'd like to see some yar har har pirate marines or nautical themed chapters. Without going full DE/CSM pirate mode or full retard Star Kraken with scuba helmets.

You're not wrong, but they're also the pet chapter of one of the major sculptors so there's that too. That Mk V thing is so on the mark though.

The Mantis Warriors were tricked into siding with the seccessionists in the Badab War. Mantis Warriors weren't loyalists during that campaign.

When they found out they were on the wrong side, they retreated and hid in their own territory to prevent bloodshed and not have to fight the "good guys" but the sharks started murdering their refugees and civilians that were hiding them to draw them out.

Problem with Mk8 is that all you had was the torso. You couldn't get legs, helmets, arms, etc. for it. Mk6 legs, torsos, helmets, pauldrons, etc. were much easier to get and beakies were THE space marine of the old days, so all the wannabe longbeards wanted at least a unit of them.

The CSM when given FnP and Zealot act as cheaper, makeshift Plague Marines, moving forward to crack vehicles. The Chosen get their Plasma Twin-Linked and hunts down heavy infantry while the possessed move to engage and tie up any units while the rhinos get where they need to be. Dark Apostle goes with the Chosen, staying within 12 inches of the CSM who move ahead.

No. And M2's leg striations with unmoveable helmet is shit. There is nothing to like about it aesthetically, practically, or with the cool factor. That is the true hipsters choice - choosing it because no one else does, then acting like it's superior. M3 did the knight look better than 2, doesn't have the weird segmented legs, and it has the cool factor that M2 lacked - superheavy frontal armour built to advance without dying. There is 0 reason to prefer M2 over M3, unless you are actually living in the setting and worry about your power supply like a faggot.

But everyone else plays in GW stuff, and they abuse their monopoly. Jesus m8 I'm not saying "sell them for $20" I'm saying "Forgeworld prices are fucking ridiculous and GW prices are usually pretty fucking high too"

Mk 3 is the one with the unmovable helmet. And the mk 2 legs you're complaining about are the most similar to actual suits of real plate armor, which I thought you faggots loved since you hate boobplate and like realistic armor threads so much.

Wrong. They both have immovable helmets. M2's is just the one that looks like it's bolted on.
>>
>>46850720
>and GW prices are usually pretty fucking high too"

No point in saying that since they're lower/the same as every other major company in the market. The prices for miniatures is high in general. You realize X-Wing, Infinity, Warmahordes, etc all charge MORE than GW per model? For 99% of any given model range, and on a combined average. Don't try to cherry pick the cheapest Infinity/Warmahorde model and compare it with a GW HQ or the most expensive GW model you can find like most faglords do on /tg/ every time price is mentioned.

There is no realistic armour that has those laughable Castle In The Sky golem legs.
>>

FW decided to remove the unmovable helmet part from those two marks for some reason.

>going on outdated fluff
>even uses outdated GW image

Why bro it's 2016. HH came out like 4 years ago.

Thinking about splitting the Imperial Knight game with a friend and was wondering what I should build.

I'm liking the Knight Gallant since it's cheaper and adds a melee monster to compliment my Dark Angels, but I don't know how good it is (or more realistically how much worse it is then the other load outs).
>>
>>46850765

Are you retarded?
>>
>>46850776
Buy Magnets, Magnetize that bitch
It can now be any Knight variant you want
>>
>>46850785
I had magnetized my Tau Crisis suits and Carnifexes at one point bu I ended up undoing it cause I didn't like how fragile they felt. I don't trust myself to do a solid enough job with magnets to not make the knight constantly on the verge of collapsing.
>>
>>46850767
>the triumph of the M2 armour was introducing the autosenses that were so advanced it was like you weren't wearing a helmet it all, even when moving your head despite the fixed helmet
>removing this for modeling purposes is somehow an upgrade

>>46850780
That is segmented plates, not the shitty hooped bands of M2 (which even FW considered awful and removed when printing the model). Are you the retard?
>>
>>46850810

Why the fuck do you keep referring to GW's shit instead of the actual current FW diagrams? It's retconned you dumb nigger, you're complaining about non-existent shit.

>hur dur shit from the 80's doesn't look good in 2016
>hur dur GW doesn't know how military and historical shit works
>hur dur this stuff was corrected but I'm still going to complain about it

That's literally you.
>>
>>46850809
I'm not saying Magntize the whole thing, just the arms
If the fragility bothers you, buy stronger magnets, also, being able to disarm it will make it easier to transport
My Roommate Magnetized every single arm of his Blood Angels and they seem solid enough
And if I really can't convince you of Magnets, I wouldn't recommend Gallant if it's going to be your only one, grab the Errant, it costs more, but has some more distanced weapons that can deal with Deathstars while keeping its distance before closing in with its Strength D Reaper Chainsword
>>
>>46850747

Don't those games require way less models than 40k does? I thought Infinity is usually like 10 dudes, and the same for Warmahordes? (I honestly don't know though)
>>
>>46850838
>Forgeworld realizes M2 is shit, so they redesign it to look closer to M3

Less Models, but the cost is increased, you still end up spending similar amounts of Money.
It just feels like you're not getting nickel and dimed, JewDubya isn't actually that bad
>>
>>46850838
Is that really your fallback? "It's retconned! Forgeworld retconned the shittiness! So if you still like M3 over 2 after the retcon, ur a fgt!"

The lack of famous female scientists is more of a function of them being kept out of science.

GW does overprice a lot of their stuff, but come the fuck on.
>>
>>46850864

Warmahordes is regularly 50+ models nowadays. It's stupid.

Mostly because infantry spam is the best way to go but it's also the most expensive. Paying $7-10 per metal monopose Infinity model is not my idea of saving money compared to $3-5 per multi part GW one, either. Although I do buy random Infinity models just for the amazing sculpts.

>>

Is this really your argument? "The current FW Mk II is fine, but if you like it, you're wrong because of the way the old, outdated, replaced GW Mk II that nobody's talking about or even cares about was!"?
>>
>>46850960

Replace beakies with Maximums to see why you're retarded.

A lot of people on /tg/ and in the hobby have shit taste. Just look at any homebrew color scheme thread. I'm not saying beakies don't look good, you just have retarded arguments.

>The lack of famous female scientists is more of a function of them being kept out of science.

That's not necessarily true. Even today with the massive push towards including women in STEM at any cost, they lag behind. Some people say this is due to gender roles (whether voluntary or the evil patriarchy). But in any case, that barrier's removed, and in a lot of fields it's made no difference.

I'm saying M2 was shit, and the fact that they redesigned it after 3 (especially that new helmet) isn't giving it any brownie points, especially in an argument claiming that nu2 is better than 3. Just indication that 3 is perfect and even FW admits it.

Wtf. Hobbies cost money.

A mediocre frolfing kit (bag, discs, other stuff) costs that much.

Good kite gear can cost that much.

R/C costs a shit ton more.

Moonshining has set me back about a $500 and I also do Warhammer. Shit man I deliver pizzas and can find room for this.

Do you work a retail job? Actually try at your job and in no time you're getting raises and promotions.

it is 99 on amazon

and honestly, 40k is not as expensive as people say it is

while most models are more expensive than they used to be, the price per space marine has stayed constant for over ten years.

Furthermore, the price per model is not really that bad if you compare to say, Reaper

Are the really old GW models shit for the price? yes. Don't buy their older models. Buy the newer better quality models.

this

There is a guy at my work whose hobby is racing cars. He custom builds a car in his garage that he drives to a track to race. He spends every month what I do on 40k a year.

also plenty of people have guns and hunting as hobbies, and those get expensive really fast

even my mother whose hobby is scrapbooking notes how expensive stamps and fancy materials are (and I've seen those prices, to sustain that hobby costs as much as 40k)

---

what really makes me sadder than anything about all this, is many people who complain how expensive 40k is will spend hundreds of dollars on Pathfinder or Magic: The Gathering. If you like those things that's fine, just accept that your hobby can be equally as expensive as ours.

Frankly it's propably just that the individual pieces of 40k not only cost more than say a booster at MTG, but also requires you buy paints and brushes.

Also some people don't think painting as part of the hobby
>>

painting, modelling, collecting, and narrative are easily 80% of the hobby
