The creature giggles menacingly as it creeps closer to you.
You know that now isn't the time, but your curiosity gets the best of you...
"How do you know my name?" You ask.
The creature stops. "Your name... are you... Morsel?" It asks.
"No, I'm Yuu" You say.
"You're me?" It asks.
"No, you're you. I'm Yuu" You say.
"How can you be me if I'm me?" It asks.
"But I'm not you" You say. "I'm Yuu"
"Yuu! Are you alright?" Derrick calls up.
"No! I'm not Alright, I'm Ariadne!" The creature shouts.
"Oh" You say. "Hi, Ariadne. I'm Yuu"
"Stop that!" It says. It sounds less like a dangerous creature and more like an angry child now...
In the low light, you can see that its body is like Meredith's or Emi's, if they were a spider instead of a snake or a horse. But where the spider's head would be, the human torso pokes out. It has pale skin, and a slight frame. It seems small, but beyond that you can't see much...
"Ari! What have I told you about stringing up guests?" A harsh female voice calls.
"But I thought- Ekh!" The spider-girl lets out a weird grunt as something flies up and hits her in the face.
The object falls to the ground... it looks like a shoe of some sort.
Then the spider-girl falls to the ground.
Then the thread keeping you up loses tension, and you fall to the ground. You hit the floor hard on your butt. It hurts, but you're okay.
You hear whimpering coming from the spider, and look over to see her curled up...

You raise your torso off the ground, and look around.
"Are you okay?" Emi asks you.
"I'm fine" You say, as you stand up and move over to the spider. "Are you okay?"
The spider is about as big as you, but her human body is about the size of a child's. She's covering her face with her hands, and it sounds like she's crying.
"I'm Ariadne..." She says.
Another woman leans over to comfort the Ariadne. "Ari, he's asking if you're okay, not if your name is okay"
"No..." She says. "That hurt"
The woman helps the little spider sit up with a gentle hand. A hairy hand... a gentle, hairy hand.
You look up at the woman's face. She has big ears, and messy black hair with thick sideburns. Her skin is tanned, and her body is toned. She also has a tail. It's less furry than Ilica's or Layla's, and it looks more mobile too.
"I'm sorry, sweetie. I didn't think I'd actually nail you with my slipper like that" The woman says.
The spider rolls over, turning her back to the woman.
The woman sighs. "Alright, what'll make this right?" She asks.
"... I want ice cream" The spider says.
"Then you can have ice cream" The woman says.
"Sprinkles?"
"As many as you want"
The spider flips over onto her feet... legs... she doesn't really have feet. "Yay!" She says.

"Are you the Monkey Queen?" You ask the spider.

"I was going to ask you next" You say.

"Nice to meet you" You say, offering your hand for a handshake.
"Likewise" Tian says, taking your hand and giving it a firm shake. There's no hair on her palms, which is good. That would've felt weird.
Ariadne holds her hands up. "I'm Ariadne!" She says.
"I know" You say.
Ariadne looks annoyed.
"Now Ari, what do we say to someone when we do something bad?" Tian says.
"We say sorry..." Ariadne says. "I'm sorry"
She doesn't look very sorry, but you're not all that concerned.
"And who are you 3?" Tian asks.
Derrick steps forward. "I'm Derrick, this is Ilica, and Emi"
"Charmed" Tian says. "Glad to see another southerner around here, though this place isn't the friendliest to our kind"
"It's not so bad... at least I haven't run into trouble" Emi says.
Tian chuckles. "Hopefully that stays true" She says.
"Are you two related?" You ask.
"Me and Ari?" Tian asks. You see a look in her eyes... Like... sadness, or regret. "No... her parents are away from town, and they asked me to look after her"
"Tian! Tian!" Ariadne says, as she bounces up and down on her spider legs. "Ice cream!"
"Well, go up to the kitchen" Tian says. "I'll meet you up there"
"Can I have ice cream too?" You ask.
Tian eyes you, and then shrugs. "Eh, why not" She says. "Feel free to come into the living room... I hope you guys are climbers though. Some jerk took out the stairs with a boulder about a week ago"

The entryway to the house is on the first floor. Above you, you can see the second floor with a railing. To your left are the stairs, but as Tian said: they're smashed.
Ariadne easily skitters up the wall and over the railing to the second floor, and Tian hops up to follow her.
"I guess... we climb?" Derrick asks.
Ilica shrugs as she walks over to the wall. "Only if you want to get up" She says, as she bends down and jumps up, easily catching the edge of the floor, and from there she hops up and over the rail.
Emi slithers up, and simply raises herself up and climbs over. Leaving you, Hella, and Derrick.
"Tian, I thought you said you were going to fix that" Hella says.
Tian peers over the rail. "Oh, sorry Hella. I haven't had the time" She says. "Need a hand?"
Hella turns her head and puffs out her cheeks.
Tian chuckles. "Guess not" She says, as she walks away.
Hella looks completely shocked... even though you're pretty sure that Tian was only joking.

"Do you need a boost?" You ask Hella.
"Yeah, we can lend a hand if you want" Derrick says.
"Why thank you, boys. I would like that" Hella says.
The three of you walk up to the wall. You crouch and link your fingers together, and start by lifting Derrick up to the second floor.
Then You lift Hella up so Derrick can get her hand and pull her the rest of the way, then he helps her get over the rail. Once that's done, he reaches down for you.
"Now you" Derrick says.
"Don't worry, I can handle this" You say, as you pull your mageblade out of your pocket.
You turn it on without sharpening it, and then you lengthen it and curve it into a hook.
Derrick catches on to your plan quickly, and hops over the rail to get out of your way.
Then you jump up and hook the railing, pulling hard on your blade to get yourself up. Too hard, unfortunately.
It loses its form, causing a part of it t scatter, and you to fall. But a hand reaches out to catch you.
You look up expecting to see Derrick, but instead... "Tian?" You ask.
"Not too shabby" She says. "But not strong enough to hold your weight. Good for a beginner, but certainly not the best"
She pulls you up with one hand, showing a strength that you weren't expecting.
"Thanks" You say.
Shen then hands you an ice cream cone. "I take it you came here to learn a few things?" She asks.

"And now?" Emi asks.
"Nobody comes to Bell's Run... not by choice, anyway" Tian says. "And the locals have decided that they don't like me, as you can see by the boulder hole where my stairs used to be"
"Hella says that you plan to leave" Derrick says.
"That is the plan" She says. "I was thinking of going back to the isles where it's warm... or pretty much anywhere but here"
"What does the spider think of that?" Ilica asks. You think you hear disgust in her tone, but you could be mistaken.
You turn to see Ariadne up in a web in a corner, happily licking her ice cream.
"She's easy to please" Tian says.
"I can see that" Emi says. "If I might ask, did her parents really-"
Tian stops Emi with a quick cutting gesture and a shake of her head. "Go on vacation? Of course they did" She says, still shaking her head. "So, Yuu. Did you want to learn a few things?"
You're confused about what happened there, and the sudden change of subject. But you do want to learn...
"Yes" You say.
"Well, you came to the right place" She says. "Show me whatcha got"

You recreate your blade, giving it its meager sharpness since you don't have to worry about not wrecking Tian's railing anymore.
"Red's... an odd colour" She says.
"Yuu is an odd guy" Emi says.
Tian shrugs. "Alright, show me the basics" She says. "Looks like you've got a bit of an edge there. Not really sharp, but still better than nothing. It's not incredibly solid either... how are you at shaping?"
You manage to bend the blade back and forth pretty easily, but making it longer still takes time...
"Slow" She says. "Very slow. How long have you been practicing?"
"A few days" You say.
"Okay... so you are pretty above average" She says. "But still, nowhere near as good as me"
Tian pulls out her own mageblade and activates it. Her blade is a solid, aqua blue. It's so sharp, so focused, that if you hadn't just seen her create it you might think it were real metal painted blue.
"Wow" You say, holding your own blade up to examine it. "I guess I do have a long way to go"
Tian's blade shoots out, wrapping around yours several times before coming off and tapping your nose.
"You certainly do" She says.
"Can you teach me?" You ask.
"Not everything... but I have time to give you a few pointers" She says. "What do you want to know?"

You frown, and then turn back to Tian.
"You want to know how to make it dense?" She asks.
"Yeah" You say. "Mine is too soft. I need to make it hard enough to use"
Ilica bursts out laughing.
"What's so funny?" You ask.
"Don't worry about it, Yuu" Emi says.
"I get it!" Ariadne says.
"You do not" Tian says.
Ariadne pouts.
Tian lets out a sigh. "So, you want some pointers on density" She says. "Right off the bat, I can tell that you're scattering too much"
"Scattering?" You ask.
"Making your energy come out in wild ways. I'll admit that it looks cool, but it makes it harder to focus or tightern" She says. "Is your emitter working right?"
"I don't have one" You say.
"That explains a lot" She says. "I've got a few extra blades around here, if you want a proper one"

You give her your blade, and she hops over the railing. Then you hear her go into the room underneath you, and start shuffling things around... now you wait, you guess.
You turn back to the others. Emi and Derrick are talking about something, while Ilica and Hella lounge back on the couch.
Above Hella, Ariadne hangs from a silk thread. She seems to be creeping her way down to the unsuspecting rabbit...

Hella's ears move every now and then, and whenever they do, Ariadne stops descending. She waits until Hella's ears are pointed forward until she starts to move again.
It's weird, though. None of her limbs seem all that strong, yet she was able to lift you all the way up to the ceiling earlier, and now she's hanging upside down without much trouble at all.
It's also weird how the thread is coming out of... her butt? Is that where her butt is? Does that make the thread poop?

"How are you doing that?" You ask.
Hella turns to you. "Doing what?" She asks.
"Not you, her" You say, pointing to Ariadne.
Hella looks up. "Hello there" She says.

Ariadne grumbles something as she lowers herself onto Hella. "I know..."

Ariadne sets herself into Hella's lap, like she was a child. But with the size of her lower half... well... she doesn't really fit. Hella doesn't seem to mind at all.
"If she gets caught sneaking up on me, she has to snuggle" Hella says.
"I almost had you, until he ruined it" She says.
Hella smiles, hugging Ariadne tightly and rubbing her cheek into the spider's head. "I knew you were coming" She says.

Ariadne puffs out her cheeks, and the web detaches from her as she slumps into the happy bunny.
"Can't she just break free? She's a lot stronger than she looks" You say.
"Rules are rules" Ariadne says. "It gets worse if I try to escape..."
"Worse?" You ask.
Hella smiles. "Better~" She says.
You have no idea what that means, but you have better questions. "Why is snuggling the punishment?" You ask. "It doesn't sound like much of a punishment"
"It's a rabbit thing" Ilica says. "Don't worry about it"
"Oh... okay" You say.

You create your blade, and it's like night and day. The edges aren't as blurry anymore, and it looks much sturdier.
"Impressive" She says. "Much tighter, and a lot more solid"
"Wow, I guess an emitter really does make a difference" Derrick says.
You also feel sharper somehow. You manage to push all of the inane distractions from your brain, allowing your focus to be where it is needed.
"I think I see some improvements in other areas too. It's more than a simple switch to a proper weapon" Tian says.
"It is?" You ask.
Tian laughs. "Remember this, Yuu. The mageblade is only as strong, or as sharp, or as flexible as you are" She says. "Train yourself to be those things, and you'll be the best in no time"
Tian creates a blade of her own, which splits into 4 blades, each of which spirals outward...
"Well... maybe not THE best..." She says.
"But I can get better" You say. "Thanks"
"No problem. I'm always willing to teach if someone is willing to learn" She says. "Maybe once I'm out of here, I'll let you know where I live so I can whip you into shape"

Tian looks uncomfortable, as she turns to Ariadne. The spider is asleep, and Hella is gently stroking her hair, so Tian turns back to you. "Quizzers got the little one's parents" She says. "I'm trying to think of a way to break that to her gently. Until then, we stay he-"
Ilica jumps to her feet and shushes you, moments before the door downstairs bursts open.
"By order of the high Inquisitor!" A loud man calls out. "I am placing you ALL under arrest!"
