Really it'd be even easier than that. I decided I didn't want Mihails to be the combat type when I was designing him, which is why all you need to do is get rid of his book and he's just an eight-year old with amnesia.

I'm down with Belloski wrecking Mihails' ass to get him as a business partner; he doesn't have any major interest in artifacts once he's done cataloguing them, so he could provide wares for the jew dragon's business.

I imagined that would be the case. Any good knight of Bant knows all about duty (and your snowflake seems like a good person. His and mine (Kolya) would get along.)

So I assume he would feel a duty and obligation towards Bant, if not outright affection. I totally understand also feeling obligated to Innistrad after the Cathars saved his life. Bit of tension, there.

When Elspeth left Bant, she still felt loss, but also felt like she didn't belong anymore. That doesn't seem to be the case for your fellow. So you might want to explore his reason for not returning to Bant.

here's my second ever snowflake. my first one was removed from the list for some reason? new management?

it was a long time ago anyway, and i like this one better. is it stated anywhere how long it takes goblins to reach maturity, and how long it was between phyrexians winning over mirrodin and elesh raiding the great furnace? only issue is I don't know if this guy's timeline's feasible in lore.
>>
>>46780210

Izari, I'd say. It takes balls to survive Grixis, and Corvin (besides being bland) seems very nonchalant. If it came down to life or death, I'd put my money on the former.

Zix here. I wanted a goblin without red specifically which I guess is a little sue ish. Mono black goblins exist, and the other colour I usually see them in is blue, so that was that. No goblins in Dimir, and I kinda like the idea of a character being part of a guild they don't quite gel with. That, and Dimir doesn't do artifacts all that much and he's from former mirrodin.

Does that make sense? Tinkerer might not be the best class in retrospect.

Corvin's profile doesn't suggest he's as willing to promptly kill a bitch as Izari is, so I'd say Izari probably triumphs, although only in circumstances where the two need to fight. They don't seem like they'd normally have a conflict with each other, but that applies to so many flakes it's not even worth considering.

It's a color she's not associated with and generally planeswalkers outfits and shit are associated with their color in a way, like how Chandra is all red, Jace wears all blue etc etc. If I was to guess her colors by look I'd guess R/U or America colors
>>
>>46781935

Let's be fair, while color themes are well and good, it'd be kinda weird if every red planeswalker was a ginger and/or was wearing red all the time.

The gatewatch generally have the power rangers "always wearing my color" thing covered, but it seems unlikely all other walkers would be so fashion marketing conscious.

Entomb and Cabal Therapy don't work the way the creator thinks they do. With Entomb it isn't casting a copy of the body of a creature spell and putting it into the ground it's literally burying something that's already there, Cabal Therapy also doesn't leave a corpse because it removes the spell from the targets mind so they can't cast it. The other's are generic Liliana spells.

>>46778904
Akroma was a vengeful mass murderer and never let people get close so studying her would be very difficult.
Avacyn would never work with someone who used necromancy so that's more studying from afar while the object of study would try to kill the one studying.
Griselbrand and Jin-Gitaxias are the ones I see who are most likely to let the planeswalker study them, in return for favors so pretty much making deals with demons.
Visara is a gorgon, she killed anyone who got close to her cave and is very difficult to study a a result.
Sheoldred was very busy fighting the other Steel Thanes but was very up close and personal about Compleating her subjects so she's difficult to study.
Urabrask told his people to leave the Mirrians alone unless they got in the way, but his title is the hidden so pretty hard to study.
Iona probably doesn't even notice people so I guess that's easy.
Gisela is like Avacyn on crack, she's maim and kill all necromancers so that's the opposite of what a necromancer would want in studying someone.
>>46778934
These seem like something a necromancer would carry around, but they're a bit powerful.

So in the end this is Liliana but believing that game=lore fully.
>>
>>46782029
Fuck you, you don't need to study creatures, you just know the mana they're made of. All a planeswalker needs to know is that Akroma is 5WWW and bam, they can summon her.

Prove me wrong, oh wait, you can't. Fuck you and your made-up shit of having to 'study' creatures to summon them. Planeswalkers can summon whatever the fuck they want.
>>
>>46782066

>>
>>46782098

>>
>>46782066
You can't summon anything that you're not at least familiar with.

You have have greater familiarity to create
specific creatures, like Legendaries.

>>46782124
As disputed in the previous thread, you can't pull living creatures to other planes because they can't survive the Blind Eternities. Copies are made by your use of mana to pull a facsimile from the Blind Eternities that is made of Aether.
>>
>>46782124
It doesn't say that, though it does say.
>Come to me, she willed him. I need to get the sense of you.
She needed to form a bond mana or otherwise to be able to summon a copy to other planes.
>>
>>46782188
>>46782173
You're taking it too literally.

Besides, find a source that says that you can't teleport creatures from one plane to another. Here's a hint, you can't, fuckboys.

You can make copies of any creature that you figure out the mana cost of or you can teleport creatures from other planes to yours if you're familiar with them. That's how this shit works, idiots.

>>46782422

Izari vs. Deka, eh?

We've already gone over the offensive prowess of Izari, but I don't think you can underestimate a Cathar who survived Innistrad and had at least some training from Thalia.

Deka might have greater potential, but it seems like she is still learning about her powers, where as Izari has been a walker for longer. On the grounds of experience, I vote Izari.
>>
>>46782462
That's the opposite of what they do. Eternal Ice says you need to either know the creature or study it closely. AoA says that planeswalkers can't bring living things across the blind eternities.
>>
>>46782245
>Teleport between planes.
This is the worst part of your argument, to be frank. Not even Planeswalkers teleport between planes, being flung through the Blind Eternities by their spark by their intentions. This is to say that the only way to move between planes is to be able to access the space between them, which is confirmed to be impossible to survive except by Planeswalkers and a rare handful of things (such as the Eldrazi).
You can't just ignore the hard canon that separates out the planes and makes Planeswalkers special, and then insert terms that aren't relevant.

The decision on how to interpret the limits of summoning have changed through the game's history, especially regarding the mending. However, it's been cited already that the creative team, which is literally an authorial source for the game, runs on the concept that all summoning works on pulling creatures from the Aether. Please, just stop misinterpreting the lore when no sources that you quote for this purpose explicitly support you while several sources are against you.
>>

I can't believe you take the people who are ruining Magic seriously.

Summoning really doesn't take much effort. I mean, during BfZ, she summons Lorthos and then quite literally ten minutes later she conjures a gigantic wave that nearly washes the Jacetice League away.
>>
>>46782489

Man, the dice like Izari tonight, huh?

I think you have a point. Typically if someone just started as a planeswalker they don't have a ton of experience with how to even use mana or an understanding of many spells. Deka is likely an extremely formidable combatant, Cathars kinda have to be, but I'd give this one to Izari on the basis someone who knows what they're doing in a planeswalker duel is assuredly going to be the winner.
>>
>>46782173
Why can't you pull anything beyond the planes?

Could you kill a creature and then resurrect it? If so, could you kill it, move its corpse to a new plane and then resurrect it?

How do planar gates work then?

If non planeswalkers can't ever travel, why was liliana so worried about griselbrand?
>>
>>46782029
>Avacyn would never work with someone who used necromancy so that's more studying from afar while the object of study would try to kill the one studying.
Avacyn's less than a decade old, she was created just before Sorin beat Nahiri's ass and planeswalked to Zendikar for the Zendikar block. She's not got enough experience to know someone's a necromancer so immediately.
>>
>>46782764
>>
>>46782764

The Avacynian church is centuries old at this point, you fucking moron. Nahiri and Sorin fought like a thousand years ago.
>>
>>46782805
What? It's true. There's nothing that says otherwise anywhere. If she didn't already look like a grown woman when Sorin summoned her, she would be illegal.
>>
>>46782832
There's literally nothing that says that anywhere. The events of the latest fiction happened literally minutes before the Zendikar block.

>The three angels had a long and complicated relationship with Avacyn. Gisela, Bruna, and Sigarda weren't truly sisters, not in any way that the word described humans. But they had come from the same essence, the same dawn times, and they had fought the horrors of the world together for a very long time. Before Avacyn had first appeared, a thousand years ago, there had been four sisters, one the eldest and most powerful of the angels. Bruna. Gisela. Sigarda. And the one they would no longer name.

That just means that there were four sisters a thousand years ago. Not that Avacyn existed back then, because Avacyn is less than ten years old.

Ginger and Forpols...

GOTTA GO FAST vs a fun guy who has nonetheless taken a very, very long time to pick a new home for the thallids to live in peace.

Ginger can always escape, but probably can't do any lasting damage to Forpols, who would kick his ass if he stuck around. I'd consider retreat defeat by forfeit, so I'm giving this one to the fungus among us.
>>

>A thousand years ago, Avacyn single-handedly destroyed their sister and her entire small flight, and they had made the very mention of her name forbidden.

Read the story, faggot.
>>
>>46782029
1) Entomb is a spell. You are taking a summon spell from your spellbook and manifesting a corpse into the ground.

2) No one ever said Cabal Therapy leaves a corpse behind. Cabal Theropy performs exactly how you stated it.

3) You can't say "generic Liliana spells" for cards that all existed before there was even a Liliana.

4) Liliana only has two abilities that are akin to the Reanimator spells. And that is her ultimate on her very first printed card. Which WotC intergrated as it was a popular theme for black. And her Origins card as it was made to mimic her first first printed card's themes. Every other card of her has never had any reanimate abilities on it.

5) You don't have to get close to a creature to study it. Zoologists observe animals from afar every day and usually without anything ever knowing they were even there.

6) Akroma was not a mass murderer. She only vowed to kill one being, Phage. And she faught along side a lot of other beings to achieve this end.

7) Avacyn wouldn't kill a human in any regard prior to her corruption.

8) Again, no creature has to ever know that it was ever being studied to begin with. Let alone having to make deals with Griselbrand or Jin-Giraxias.

9) I feel like you've spouted this non-sense before and last time multiple people corrected you and said you were stupid.

10) Again, don't have to be close to Sheoldred or Visara to study them.

11) Urabrask is only "the Hidden" because no one knew where he slumbered. He was still out and about when he was massacring the locals.

12) You know nothing about Iona.

13) Gisela won't kill a human. Ever. Under any circumstances.

14) Don't argue with >>46782066. He's just trolling you.

15) Stop making shit up like you know any of the lore at all.
>>
Can we ban the span of time regarding Avacyn's creation, what happened to Elspeth, and how Summoning works in the OP of future threads? That'd be great.
>>
>>46782764

Stepping outside the timeline argument for a moment, let's just look at Innistrad itself. You're saying that the Avacynian church, and Avacyn are less than a decade old. But the flavor and implications within the story don't support that.

Let's take one very simple example. Avacyn herself wiped out the White/Black angelflight. Yet the name of the flight and the angel leading it were already lost to memory. That happened in less than ten years?

What about the walls of Thraben that have never been breached due to their protective (Avacynian) charms? Were the city walls built that recently?

Or perhaps the Tomb of the Lunarchs where Mikaeus was interred. Was he one of the first to go in?

How about the Cathars? Were they developed in less than 10 years?

The entire culture of Avacyn worship sprung up in 10 years? Not even Jesus could do that.
>>
>>46782952
You're taking it too literally. They don't literally mean a thousand years ago, it was just a long time ago in the eyes of Sigarda and she's a dumb bimbo angel who doesn't really have a good measurement of time.

Angels are pretty dumb so it would make sense that Vronak would be able to outsmart them and make servants out of them.

I feel like both would just opt to avoid combat. They don't have a reason to fight. But if I had to pick, I'd go with Ginger. The fungus ran rather than fought, while Ginger seeks to test his skills. If push came to shove, I think Ginger would have it.

Yeah, I'd say among other things it's easy for somebody that can fly to get the drop on a blind opponent, and angels are typically way more powerful than humans. Marjanah vs. Ivander

The self-hating wolfir obviously has plenty of strength, but is consumed by rage. I think in any fight against someone who isn't a total weakling, and can keep his cool, then can put him down like the mad dog he is. But I don't think Marjanah is strong enough. She seems more than a bit frail. So the mad dog gets my vote.

Here is Anna's sheet. Once I finish the story I'm doing, I will go back and try to make it more flavorful but I was just trying to put in representatives from each deck I'm doing (and firespout for when she flipped her shit and blew up the law-mage)
As for Kurkesh, it's basically from her obsessing over scrolls she found about the Onakke and actively searching the ruins for whatever information she can find to get a good enough picture of the ancient artificer in her head
>>
>>46783474

They were more common "classes" in the older days. They don't come up nearly as often as the common ones like soldier and knight.

I'm not even sure if some of those advisors even should be advisors. Belloski is a merchant, which strikes me as 'Artificer', unless I'm forgetting something. Astera doesn't seem to be advising a thing, with 'traveling satyr looking for a yarn', which seems more like Nomad, funnily enough. Rinteller looks like a knight to me, but I dunno, he might be something different, I haven't seen his card. Vanya works, I suppose, given that she's a spyder.

Advisor and Artificer are typically the two used to demonstrate being a merchant, so it's probably a toss-up between them since there's no "Merchant" creature class.

Speaking as Astera's creator, I mostly made her an advisor because she tries to emulate the traveling philosophers of theros, who are Human Advisors.

Gaia's maker here. To answer your questions, yes she does come from Tolkien's Arda. Or at least an exact copy of it. I figured "Eh, what the heck? LotR is great and this is a flake thread". I couldn't think of another fantasy plane more appropriately old, classic, and well-developed. And I couldn't think of a better humanoid race to spawn this level of planeswalker than the Quendi. Specifically speaking, her spark ignited before the War of Wrath after the First Battle of Beleriand. She was slain in the conflict, but instead of her soul going to the Halls of Mandos, her spark ignited and she went beyond and into the Void (Blind Eternities). I'm unsure if she was descended from the Noldor or the Vanyar. I'd have to do some research on the timelines to decide.
>>
>>46783782
While you're here, is she a 40k Eldar?
>>
>>46783795
Nope. She is specifically one of the Elves of Arda. Also called the Firstborn, the Eldar, or the Quendi.
>>
>>46783782

So you said she manifests subconsciously on the plane. Are any of her manifestations lore characters? Is she Tom Bombadil?
>>
>>46783885
Well, Gaia's Realm is not Arda, so I'm going to say she's not Tom Bombadil. But I wouldn't be surprised if she's had dreams about Tom Bombadil or Tom Bombadil like individuals. So a version of Tom Bombadil has probably manifested on her plain numerous times, sparking its own legends of Tom Bombadil.

Nikita walked into the meeting room with her bag under her arms, most everyone on the Student Council was already present and she knew the only reason that she was here was because the usual representative was sick. Nikita adjusted the blue cuffs that signified her proficiency with the color and adjusted the rank symbols on her collar as she took her seat at the round table. “Nikita Morov,” a voice spoke, “I'm honored to have the head of Student Affairs grace us with her presence.” Aleksander Volaiv, a student a month or two older than Nikita at most and layered under so much formal clothing that the only clear feature was his striking face and expertly trimmed brown hair. He was the head of the student council, known formally as the President since he presided over all meetings of students.
“As you know,” She took out her papers while explaining, “my vice-captain has been sick for the past few days. It wouldn't do to have her attending meetings when she won't attend class.” Nikita had been giving herself a once over the whole time she had been talking to make sure every piece of formality she had to wear was where it was supposed to be. She brushed a strand of her blonde hair out of her face as a balding man with wild red hair in the dull uniform of the Arbitrators stood up to call the meeting.
“Everyone settle down,” the older man said in a gravely voice, “We're starting this meeting of the one hundred and twentieth student council.”
“Thank you, Ubul,” Aleksander said and beckoned for the man to be seated as he looked to the dozen other students sitting around the table, “Now, does anyone have a topic of discussion or should we move onto the voting for the monthly calendar.”
“Excuse me,” A brown haired girl raised her hand, “My name is Phula and I'm here on behalf of the gardening club.”
“Go on,” Aleksander prompted.
>>
>>46785115
“As you know, there have been attacks on students by some kind of mind mage and my club members are scared to leave their rooms.”
A younger man, at least a year Nikita and Aleksander's junior and dressed in much the same way as Aleksander, turned to the president of the council. “May I?” He asked of his superior who nodded. “Phula, my name is Purono and I'm a law-mage with the enforcement division of the student council.”
“Sir.” the brown hair girl said in acknowledgment.
“Thank you, I assure you that the members of your club are in no danger. In fact, criminal activities have dropped to near zero in the past few months.”
“But the students who were attacked,” the girl started before Purono held up his hand to stop her.
“They were involved in illegal activities on school grounds, neither I or anyone in the enforcement division have any reason to believe the attacker would target innocent people.”
“But they are still attacking students,” Nikita said bluntly, leaning in as she looked him in the eyes, “as a member of the enforcement division, you cannot by condoning such actions.”
“As a member, I need to know how to prioritize, and looking for whoever is taking care of scumbags is not a priority.” Purono responded very curtly.
“Ubul,” Nikita's gaze turned towards the Arbitrator and her former mentor, “What do you think? You're an Arbitrator, right?”
“Woah,” he held up his withered hand as in defense,“I'm just here to call the meeting and make sure you don't stab each other.” Nikita just sat back in her chair. “You all are in charge of the goings on of the campus, you want the Arbitrators to get involved, take a vote and I'll pass it on.”
>>
>>46785137
“We don't need the Arbitrators,” Purono stood up from his seat, “there is nothing wrong, Phula, your club members are safe.” Nikita packed up the belongings she had bothered to put out and pushed out from the table to leave. “We still need to vote.” Purono told her, like he had a right to give her an order.
She looked to the student council president and he nodded, they both knew that she took any matters concerning the Affairs committee privately. “Good day, Mr. President, Student Council, Ubul.” She let some derision slip in with the last name as she left the room.

Outside of the room she saw her assistant waiting with a notebook, a short little brunette who was two years younger than Nikita. “Captain, I have some news.” She said and started walking when it was clear Nikita wasn't slowing down. “As of ten minutes ago, I am the acting vice-captain of Student Affairs and-”
Nikita stopped her mid sentence “Bali's only been absent for two days, I appreciate enthusiasm but don't loot the house before it burns.”
“Uh..” The young girl paused, trying to refocus after that expression. “No, I mean, as of ten minutes ago, Miss Bali officially resigned.” She started walking again and Nikita followed suite.
“I know she sounded depressed, but that's not like her.” Nikita mumbled, “and if it was ten minutes ago, you should have gone to that blasted meeting instead. Are we sure she wasn't coerced to quit, I need to check in on that. So why didn't-”
This time the young girl cut her off. “Ma'am, I, well I tried to find you but a goblin held me up. Apparently her club captain was attacked by the mind mage and broke down a rig he'd been working on all year.”
“For what?” She asked, snapping her fingers for the girl to hurry up, “goblins breaking down half finished projects to start something new isn't unusual.”
“Scrap, Miss Hidecrawler said he just broke it down and threw the scrap away one day.”
>>
>>46785156
Nikita massaged her temples, surely if she said something about it to the student enforcers, they would find some way to present any goblin as a sort of criminal. “So Bali, how do we know she wasn't coerced?”

And that's all I have thus far, when I get done, I will put it in a paste bin for ease of viewing.

Depends on who you're playing with and where. Is this just casual with friends or what?
>>
>>46785276
It never fails that we get a mechanics question.
Also, play with friends. Sanctioned gets soul draining after a bit.

Mostly but I do plan on going to the local card shop and doing FNM as well since they go. I would like to be somewhat competitive. Currently only looking at modern until I get a better understanding and hang of this game.

I would say start on drafts to get a hang of the game. And then start moving into casual formats before you go to modern. Remember, if you don't have an inoculation to lesser memes, Modern will overwhelm you.
The Meme from lowest to greatest is
Kitchen Table
Sealed
Draft
EDH
Pauper
Highlander
Modern
Standard
Archenemy
Emperor
Prism
Bitch Magic (Oh we all draw from a land pile and our main deck)
Legacy
Vintage
Vanguard
Card Fight Vanguard
Secret Ally EDH
Multiplayer
French EDH
The Heat Death of the Universe
Tiny Leaders.

But shouldn't he have nothing as far as personnel goes?

I was thinking about making a Naya colored walker who believes that the strong will always dominate, but that it means that he must be the strongest in order to protect the weak. Is that out of color?
>>
>>46786574
no
>>
>>46786587
And it will include an Naya Eldrazi deck with an infinite combo (Blinky+Brood Monitor/Emrakul's Hatcher+Impact Tremors) in addition to green stompy and other good stuff. Just saying as a forewarning because I know people don't think Planeswalkers should be summoning Eldrazi.

What's the most selfless way to be a b/r hero?
What's the most selfish way to be a g/w villain?
>>
>>46787272
>What's the most selfless way to be a b/r hero?
Self-destructive heroism, definitely using underhanded tactics to win. Destabilizing before hitting really hard, really fast. I see a really clever berserker fighting for freedom.

>>46787272
The Selesnya Conclave.
>>
>>46787272
A B/R hero is one who believes that society holds us back and that everyone's ideas should be judged on that person's ability to defend them instead of "Oh, that's morally wrong" Or "That's not tradition"
A G/W villain might not be selfish, but I imagine the Borg would be G/W (admittedly I haven't seen any of the movies and most of my experience with the borg is them just being New Phyrexia IN SPAAAAAAAAACE)
>>
>>46787272
>selfless b/r hero
absolutely ruthless freedom fighter in a land dominated by w tyranny. Doesn't mind sacrificing himself or others to get the job done.

>selfish g/w villain
A guy trying to bring natural order to the land, and believes he is the only one who can do it. Doesn't mind subjugation to do so.
>>
Lore speaking would a U/R Villain work as someone who loved hamming it up and embraced how much of a cunt he was?
>>
>>46786705
As you explain how he was able to study Eldrazi close enough to summon them, that's fine.

he made love to blinky

Actually in the UR where Jace meets Evil Garruk, Jace does seem to teleport-planeswalk directly to Ravnica. He opens an illusion of the city behind him, and steps into it, becoming the illusion and vanishing into the real place.

Someone... Chandra perhaps, does something similar to go to Zendikar, and a few other characters open "portals" as well.

It seems that you need a good sense for where you want to go - which makes sense, with how important "true memory" is to aether magic.
>>
>>46782759

There is no resurrection magic - at least, not on Dominaria. The whole Feldon thing was about how magic cannot resurrect, but only create a facsimile (which can be near perfect and independent).

Theros has some, but their souls work oddly.

Presumably if you were ready and waiting to catch their soul as soon as it tried to leave their body, you could do it though.

>>46782764

Aside from everyone else's evidence, we actually have an exact date for the creation of the Avacynian Church. The bloodletter story took place shortly before Avacyn Restored, and put it at 700 years ago.
>>
>>46788823
I think it all depends on the planeswalker, one ice planeswalker would create a portal of ice to step through while Elspeth planesfalls more than anything else.

Excuse me, but what the fuck are you doing with that list? It should go something like:
>Kitchen Table
>Sealed
>Draft
>Standard
>"Supported" casual formats (ie Archenemy)(optional)
>Modern
>"Unsupported" casual formats (ie Emperor)(optional)
>Pauper
>Commander
>Legacy
>Vintage
>Variant Commander (why would you play any of these)

Are you thinking the 0: ability kills him? What exactly do you think is making him die?

Once per turn on either of your main phases. Just like Arlinn Kord.
>>
>>46789026
Any player that could care about lore would make him target himself.

You really have a sad life, kid. This is a group of people coming together because we all love MtG. And you're here being a pain in people's asses. Why? Why treat people, who share a common interest in something you love, this way?

Kamahl died in Scourge.
We don't know shit about Arcanis, but I suspect he was intended to be a character who has visited other planes before.
>He has journeyed where none have been before. Now he returns to ensure that none follow.
Turning him into just another pit fighter in 10th was lame. I like to think Aeon Chronicler represents his current form.
