Continuation of >>46737037

Continuing our discussion from last thread, working out our armor colors and whether or not we should have a calling card. We've also got a summary and some writefaggory buried in there, if someone could go find them since I'm be yelled at to get back to work!
>>
>>46776667
The calling card doesn't make much sense considering they're supposed to be operators operating operationally. If you want the wine to be a calling card, it's something they should send to the Ecclesiarchy after they complete a mission.
>>
>>46776667
>>46776931
A calling card would be out of place since they're supposed to go unseen most of the time.

Maybe they include wine in their ceremonies or involve it in the occasional assassination, but leaving glasses of wine everywhere they go seems silly.

Oh, and here's the hex colours in case anyone wants to fuck around with it.
Well, I'm going to bed. Have fun!
>>
>>46778502
Yeah, I'm fine with it.
>>
>>46778502

Fine with I as well.
>>
So with the wine, should it be used in rituals or our calling card to the Ecclesiarchy? Which and how?
>>
>>46781235
Calling card to the Ecclesiarchy. It's also how they afford their operations.
>>
>>46781664

Continuing with the theme of being a bunch of sneaky gits, I'm thinking that the head of their local branch waking up to a glass of the wine on his dresser/desk/etc, freshly poured a few moments before s/he woke, with the pourer nowhere in sight and left no trace, as the card.
>>
>>46782123
That could work. I assumed the calling card would be left at the scene, but leaving it for the boss instead as a sign of mission success could work very nicely.
>>
>>46782354

It was decided that leaving it at the scene would be against the idea of them being operators operating operationally.
>>
What should the name of our Daemon Prince-slaying Canoness be? The only answer that got in the last thread was a joke one.
>>
>>46784749
Not really sure, when we were Order of the Whisper I was convinced Echo or some other reference was good. Here, we need some kind of shadowy, phantasmal name. MG ref optional.
>>
>>46784749
Rienne Vouclair
>>
>>46785101

I like it. Now, really important one, the wine that is so important. What do we call it?
>>
>>46785965
It's not a wine, they have multiple vineyards producing a variety of wines. I think you're getting too hung up on the wine, it's a bit of side fluff. We need things like important missions and characters.
>>
>>46786009

Fair enough. I have a tendency to grab onto a part of a group/setting and see how far I can take it.

Besides our Canoness, we should probably have at least one elite operative, not to mention developing the assassination that is part of the reason behind the Ecclesiarchy's distaste for us.
>>
making a picture right now, probably going to lose sleep for it but honestly it doesn't matter.
>>
>>46787632
or not internet is shitting itself dear god, should be done in a day or two then.
>>
>>46787891

Welp, good luck.
>>
>>46787481
Sometimes you have to step back and ask yourself, "is all this necessary?"
>>
>>46785965
It's probably got the same name as the abbey or the district that the abbey is in.
>>
I feel like the "killed a Daemons Prince" thing feels a little disconnected from everything else we've got so far. How about it was somehow linked to the guy from the Ecclesiarch that we offed? That would keep things a lot more concise.
>>
>>46793377
Killed a guy trying to summon a demon prince?
>>
Here's the summary sheet for us that one fellow whipped up. As for Daemon Prince, I've been wondering the same.

Name: The Order of the Phantom Thorn
Progenetor: Order of the Bloody Rose
Purpose: Crusade
Flaw: Bad Ecclesiarchal Relations

> we killed an Ecclesiarch who was high up in the sectors chain of command but our order had found out he/she had turned to chaos and was well under way to bringing a large portion of the sector into the hands of chaos

Traits: See But Not Be Seen, Suffer Not The Xenos, and Suffer Not The Heretic
Saint: A Canoness who defeated a Daemon Prince
Homeworld: yet-unnamed Urban Civilized Shrine world, which is the moon of an as-yet-unnamed Feral Arctic Desert world, which is where most training takes place
Influence: Noticeable
Bonus: Rare Weaponry. The sisters have access to a large and varied armory suitable to any enemy.
Beliefs: Penance and Obligation. Alpha version one of their beliefs:

>The sisters of the order believe that they can't die until they've paid the blood debt that they owe to the Emperor (let's say 99 xenos or heretics), and the ones who have paid their debt and are allowed to die are inducted into the Celestians and alternately lead the rank-and-file sisters or participate in the most dangerous missions.

Order Strength: Endangered
Allies: Specific Imperial Guard Regiment (possibly Hua Yuan)
Culture: 50s-era Red Scare CIA

>They're a paranoid lot, convinced of the guilt of themselves and those around them until innocence is proven. They could operate on the fringes of Imperial space, constantly fighting against the creeping threat of liberalism that causes otherwise upstanding Imperial citizens to consider trade and diplomacy with Xenos an acceptable option. They assassinate planetary governors they view as too divergent, deliver weapons to extremist groups of Fraternis Militia, and engineer the rise of leaders who will fall more in line with the Imperium.
>>
We could fudge it to "Cannoness who killed an Unbound Demonhost", which is about the same powerlevel but more appropriate for an Order specialising in fighting cults.
>>
>>46793377
Could be the guy they killed was the daemon prince, or at least its mouthpiece. The Order uncovers his plot to overtake the sector and take him out, but the Ecclesiarchy still rankles because - whether they believe he was corrupted or not - losing such a well-known figure is a huge blow to their presence in the sector.
>>
>>46794746

This actually fits our sneaky nature better. Less krumping, admittedly, but more in line with what we do.
>>
Rienne quietly kills said daemon guy, and is both remembered for it and semi-"retired" for it. The Ecclesiarchy moves her out of the public eye, placing her in charge of a quiet abbey on the outskirts of town on this moon .

Later, a crusade is founded to eliminate an encroaching Eldar craftworld, currently near a strategically important Imperial system. They officially Found her order out of the sisters of this abbey, and send them off to the crusade.

Crusade isn't going well, and eventually the decision is made to simply Exterminatus that Craftworld. But the Craftworld itself is well defended, to the point that the Imperial Navy/Mechanicus/whoever can't get close enough to reliably launch the weapon. Two attempts to Exterminatus the craftworld have already met with failure.

Phantom Thorns have been used largely been used on one of the nearby, contested Imperial worlds, as scouts and ambushers, since they aren't well supplied by the Ecclesiarchy at this time. They learn of a webway gate connected to the craftworld on the world that was one of many being used as a beachhead by the Eldar.

Phantom Thorns are chosen/volunteer to hand-deliver the exterminatus weapon through the webway, are given permission, the weapon, and a servitor to complete the final stages of arming the device. They manage to quietly slip past a host of Eldar at the webway gate with the crate and the servitor, infiltrate and navigate the webway, and confirm that they have made it to the target Craftworld. A small dwelling is cleared nearby, the device armed, and Rienne's team escapes. The Craftworld cracks in half, and within the hour a bottle of the wine is delivered to the crusade's leader.
>>
>>46794746
I still liked the idea of the Cannoness going full metal-gear bossfight and taking out a giant daemon prince with a rocket launcher, though I think something more stealthy like you suggested is probably better.
>>
>>46797605

I like this. Ties a lot of our things together.
>>
>>46799448
They maybe got the rare equipment as part of doing the delivery, or in thanks for it.

So, what rare equipment do they get?
>>
>>46800873

Rather than rare equipment, they maintain an extensive armory so they have what they need for a situation.
>>
>>46800873
Well, it depends on how 'rare' it should be. Sisters already get access to a lot of elite stuff, so unless it was some sort of special relic I don't know quite what else they could be given.
>>
>>46800873
>>46800989
I just interpreted that as them intercepting a number of shipments from various scrutinised sources; maybe there's a crate of needlers in there, maybe an Arvus Lighter full of Tau pistols, maybe a seized cargo ship full of weapons grade pudding. Who knows?
>>
Does 40k Imperium even have silenced weapons outside of sniper rifles?
>>
>>46801382
Sisters don't usually use weapons outside the big 3, let alone Xeno weapons.

I could see these sisters making an exception on the former though.

Are there any good stealthy guns that other Imperium organizations use, short of Assassin-grade stuff?
>>
I can't answer concerning silenced weapons, but the armory probably contains other common assassination tools like poison. As for Xenos weaponry, perhaps a small supply of intercepted Tau guns and maybe a bare few Eldar ones for those times you need to leave a scapegoat for an assassination?
>>
>>46802823
Splinter Pistols could be a good option for that. Small, concealable, poisonous, and knowing Eldar techno-babble it's probably totally silent, just like Striking Scorpion Chainswords.
>>
>>46803452

Perhaps those for our primary "rare" weaponry? Possibly acquired through that Craftworld Exterminatus jaunt?
>>
>>46805198
Yeah, a walk through the webway could certainly give them the opportunity to acquire some of those.

I think that'd be a good place to limit it as far as xenos or super-rare weapons go. We can have other unorthodox and non-traditional stuff like sniper rifles, but we don't want to go crazy with giving these sisters a bunch of special snowflake guns.
>>
>>46805362

Agreed. The only other real rare thing I was thinking they might have had were digital weapons, but even I xould n't figure out how they would end up with stuff that rare.
>>
Let this shit die, ya'll went full retard

Sages for disappointment
>>
>>46805809
Well, rules-wise I think Marine HQs get a fair amount of access to them, so it wouldn't be to out of place for a Cannoness to have.

Skitarii squad-leaders also get a bunch of them, but they're Ad-Mech so they have an excuse.

Fluff-wise, they do sound stupendously rare, but at the same time they're perfect for their infiltration role.
>>
>>46805989
Then help instead of complaining.

>>46806013
Aye, so I think the Splinter Pistols work fine for the purpose of the rare weaponry.
>>
>>46805989
