People are probably getting disillusioned with civ games because CMs drop before the game has even got going, which I can't help bit think some of them might be doing due to unexpected race choices.
CMs should just straight up pick the race they want, or list thereof. They're as much a participant as the players and should have reason to be interested.

Maybe if we coordinate together to produce an inauthentic, generic "civ culture" on this board we can keep people coming back. Two or three core runners different enough for the plebs to believe we're all original yet so fundamentally samey that we attract the same exact audience minus timezone differences.
Could be a big hit. "Nerd" culture is trope culture, we just need to be our own trope.

Tundra civ has proven the same is true for civs, if they can adapt.
Like EDM DJs we must embrace a foney ideal and pretend to do something creative and enriching whilst in fact reveling in accolades for empty achievements.
Once civ runners realize the truth they will be better able to appease the vapid hordes.

Being a CM is way less easy than it seems, and there's a problem in that people give it a go thinking it will be easy, find that it's not, and then just give up, scaring off their players.
