I prefer this art.

>>46765071
Sucks, at least my magical realm is still good as horror.

It has great art. I'm on my phone currently, but it has the best depiction of Yithian's I've seen so far.

Well the game unfolded sort of like a Mystery Inc. style game but darker and heavier on the horror. Unfortunately the players after awhile realized it was easier for example, to seduce the monsters rather than capture/kill/drive off them. Eventually each player had gotten themself a horror waifu, and the game continued to function the tone was not the same. Became more like BPRD I guess, with working alongside some monsters to combat other monsters, rather than like dark and scary Scooby Doo as it originally had been.

>horror waifu
[worry]

The campaign I'm tossing around is broadly similar to something like Bioshock's early sections or SOMA, but I'm not sure if I can actually make it work. Mostly due to text-based play.

Does anyone have a source of this artist? Preferably a place to download them all? Reverse google search only gives me French websites.

The DM fucked up.

Compressing an archive now. Please hold.

This is concept art from the French version of Call of Cthulhu, which is why you're getting French websites.

Well in true Scooby Doo fashion, a common trend for someone to get chased, kidnapped, cornered, things like that. Or the standard concept of a monster carrying off an attractive woman.

Not all of them, but some of them, that players took the risk.
>>
>>46765884
If we're really going with dark Scooby-Doo, I would feel like the monster, or guy in a monster suit, would have been more interested in killing their captive than saying "yeah let's fuck."

But that's just me.
>>
>>46765929
That's why I say most of them were. But the players were able to feel out the few that could be interacted with rather than just wanting to kill, or only very basically. Two characters did die in the process, and one from the fucking after waifu-ing.

Story time of the homicidal sexy time? What was it? A xenomorph?
>>
>>46766041
Nah a big mantis sort of insect, though by her behavior and personality he had no reason to believe she would kill him. They had sex in private so help couldn't come if he needed it, and lo and behold after the deed was done she turned on him. He failed the combat, and she killed and ate some of him and laid the eggs in his body. We didn't find him until already the halfbreeds had hatched, so we found only the barest remains.
>>

Jesus. Was he alive when she layed eggs in him?
>>
>>46766185
Forget I said anything. My reading comprehension is exceptionally poor.
>>
>>46766185
No, fortunately. She ate his head once she dominated the combat.

Anon, my best work ever was text based.
YOU GOT THIS DAWG

Our last D&D game became a horror game as a result of a series of bizarre choices that ended in plagues and entire towns being Silent Hillitized but the last intentional horror game I played was Call of Cthulhu about 18 months ago.

Both of these games had unhappy endings. Which means they went well, I think.
>>
>>46765312
Is that a member of the great race of yith? Jesus, I think that's the best artistic depiction I've ever seen of them.
>>
>>46766962
the art from this selection has been 50/50 with either being dead-on or absolute shit
makes for great folder-stuffers though
>>
More awesome please

Tru dat. Complete GM failure, no longer a horror game. Keeper mistook CoC for WoD.
>>
Bump because theres not enough CoC and horror on this board anymore

Couple years ago.

It sucked. The GM got all pissy because we didn't have the right attitude, and kept lecturing us about acting more scared and intimidated. It was fucking Pathfinder, set in Golarion - a ghost is not mind-blowing terror there, it's just another monster, or maybe a member of your 4-o'clock golf foursome.

Horror GMs: don't give the players badass combat-beast characters with tons of supernatural powers and then expect them to be dumbstruck by the uncanny supernaturalness of monsters the players (and probably the characters) know all about.

Also, settle down and let me play my guy. Even if it's some gritty CoC thing where my revolver isn't going to do shit against that shoggoth, teach me that the hard way rather than bitch about how scared I'm supposed to be. Also, plenty of real people often respond to real horror with bleak humor - understand that a grim in-character joke is different from OOC mocking of your oh-so-horrible scenario/monster.

Agreed.

There's more than one way to peel a cat. Literally.
Groups get different things out of different games and each has their own dynamic.
