How much time do you spend talking about traditional games versus actually playing them?
>>
>>46758454
The last game I actually played in was about a year ago.

I haven't GMed in about 6-7.

And yet I come on here basically every day. I'd rather spend time bitching about stupid shit with you fags than actually building a setting or planning a game. I can't figure out why.

Please help.
>>
>>>46758496 Please help.
On the one hand, you've come to the wrong place for help.
On the other hand, everyone else here has the same problem.

>Please help.

I wish I could recommend Roll20 or other methods of finding a group online but...

...well just consider the fact that you'd be in a group with other random people from across the globe who, for some reason, can't find a group IRL. So... yeah.
>>
>>46758454
>talking
Probably like 20-30 hours a week? I guess it depends on whether absent-mindedly skimming threads and discarding half-written posts counts. Lately I've felt tired of talking about tg stuff. Once I find a more cerebral and engaging way to spend my time, I hope to really cut down on it.

>actually playing
When I get to play it's like 6-8 hours, and that's once or twice a month these days. So I guess that averages to about one and a half hours a week.
>>
>>46758551
Finding a group isn't a problem. I've got friends who would be more than happy to play.

The problem is that I just don't fucking do it. Chronic procrastination.

Consider that if there's people who figured this out, if they came back to tell us how, it would defeat their own achievement.
>>
I DM for 4 hours every 2 weeks or so. I don't get to play ever. Most of the time me and my roommate get drunk and tell stories of our character's past glories. Yell at each other about who would win in a fight. All that jazz. So probably more talking.

I wish I could play in a game.
>>
>>46758454
3 times as much talking/writing/reading as actually playing. But I sstill play about 6 hours a week.
>>
I play once a week for 3 hours.
>>
I'm trying to get into this whole tradgame thing.

Discounting board and card games, my experience is two and a half sessions of D&D 3.5, and one game of D&D 4e.

I mostly lurk /tg/ and a few other places to try and see what would be the best way to get my foot in the door and sit my friends down for something, even if it's over Roll20. For whatever reason, I'll get the idea in my head and then get scared off, mostly by people talking about how shit everything is in the hobby for whatever reason. I don't see too much of it here, actually. I know veteran fa/tg/uys might scoff at that but really it's a lot worse in other places.

Someday I'll get my dander up and run something. Honest.

I play Magic almost every day and DM about once a week. I almost exclusively talk about /tg/ with my friends because the people I play D&D and Magic with are just about my only friends and I don't get out except for those and classes. I'm terribly shy, though, so it's a good thing I'm into both of those hobbies or I get the feeling I wouldn't have any friends at all here. So I'm doing pretty all right.
>>
I haven't played a game in 5 years, I haven't GM'd one in 7.

It is a plague to be sure...

I'm not sure if whether it's a lack of drive or just a lack of PEOPLE to play with for me.

Talking: 4
Playing: 5
Planning: 20
I don't even GM
>>

If it helps, I've been in a few groups and a couple of try-out-oneshots and never seen anything as bad as the /tg/ tales. People with enjoyable but ordinary experiences don't talk about it as much as those with horrid ones.
>>
I get about one game a month, maybe two if I'm lucky. And, even with those I'm always trying to scrounge up some time to prepare for them, usually racing to read through things up to the last minute.

But, I talk about them all the time, both here on /tg/ and with my friends.
Each of my friends considers himself an expert on one aspect or another, so things typically get rather heated, rather philosophical, and always ends up with us agreeing upon what is necessary for the ideal game and how we should handle ourselves to play through the ultimate campaign. But, as soon as we all manage to actually get together for a game, it's two hours of joking, a list of actions we all regret, a few arguments, little or no plot progression, and ends with us lamenting that it's going to be some time before we get a chance to play again, because next time would certainly be better and we will finally act like mature, ideal gamers.

It's been about 15 years with this group.

As much as I enjoy making traditional games and playing in campaigns I mostly make and play porn games.
>>
>>46758454
Talking about them: 2-10 hours a week if I had to guess.

Playing and running them: 11-13 hours a week.

Does writing campaign summaries count as talking about games or playing them?
>>

... Fenoxo?
>>
>>46758454
I play more than argue, but usually i try to stay with the policy of " I play before I complain." which has worked pretty well so far.

Shouldn't ya be working on Home Invasion instead of advertising Overwhored, Cypress?

Dude, Fenoxo isn't the only one that makes adult games. And in my games the girls aren't furry and don't have dicks. We sell to... different demographics. His is fine but it isn't mine. The name of the game is in the picture.

>>46761258
I am, actually. I just got in all the sketches for the first sex scene and got the first day's writing last night. Once the ink and color is done and I've got some rewrites in I'll be ready to put the demo out!

I didn't come to /tg/ to get impromptu updates about upcoming porn games, but I'll take it. Wishing you luck with it, m8
Seriously though, I didn't even know you were an anon
>>
>>46761424
Those are forum games, friend, not traditional games.
>>
>>46761450
I've been on 4chan since 2004 and I've been on /tg/ since it existed. I've been around for a long, long time. But I'm anon 99% of the time and usually use different names when I'm doing SFW stuff for /tg/. Not all of it though.

Remember Brighthammer 40k? I made that.

Well I play one session a week with people I slowly starting to hate vs spending a lot of time here
>>
>>46758454
I come here and lurk daily, post a few times, and play twice a week

0%. I've never actually played traditional games before (and don't know anyone in my area who's into it), I just browse here because it looks fun as hell.

Well, that and the elf threads.

In that case.

I played about once a week for ten hour stretches for about nine years or so, but I ended up taking a hiatus from my group about two years ago after my sixth character in a row Bad Ended right at the tail end of a campaign. That kind of thing starts to wear on you after awhile.
I am still on that hiatus.

I basically work, drink and play. Only games are going to be the death of me.
>>
>>46762065
This.

I want to play a role playing game, but nobody I know wants to play.
>>
Spend like 6 to eight hours a week playing. Get on here for a bit just about every day, so even I guess?

I find that kind of hard to believe.
I mean, there's a game for everyone.

1-2 hours in 1 day, so it's 7-14 hours a week.
>playing
2 days 4-8 hours. Sometimes quick 2-4 hour session in 3rd day.
So 8-16 hours i spent playing.
