Yesterday we had a large discussion about wilderness protection, and the pros and cons. I've listened to all your input, and I've created a massive swathe of editable land for fresh joiners. You can warp there directly from spawn. Once the wilderness rollback plugins update to 1.9, the entire wilderness will be editable, and will periodically rollback to its pristine state. This is the best compromise we can make for the time being.

It's not a join in, destroy things, get bored and quit server is likely the best "selling point" the server has direction, theme, a small amount of lore that should be advanced by the player base, and lots of coming additions. If you like building and coziness and a bit more pointed minecraft experience (gods to worship, capture points that provide daily resources like heroes 3, dungeons when i get around to finishing them, and eventually a completely custom nether that's way more nether-y with wastelands and swamps of despair, not just a huge fire cave), then you're going to enjoy parnatha.
If you want a server to join and just do all the stereotypical "minecrafty" things before you inevitably get bored after a week and leave, then you probably won't enjoy this server. We do have PvP and factions wars, but you can't take land from other people and destroy their builds.
TLDR Parnatha is a more cozy and creation based server with plenty of adventuring to be had than a romp and get everything you want as soon as physically possible.

that's a render. So the blocks are imported into a set with better than minecraft lighting and larger view distances.
The map in game is exactly the same, it just depends on your hardware. I can't even run full shaders all the time. The in game map is incredibly pretty though.

Love the idea of building pretty, world-compliant locations on an interesting map. Being forced onto tiny parcels based on the number of people who join me and inevitably screw my builds up? Nope. You need to up power and allow single-person factions, or you're turning away anyone decent at building attractive things.

I agree as well, but theres reason to reward teamwork. I've lowered the fac member requirement to 2, if you can't find at least one like minded individual, there is a MASSIVE public area, which functions no different than any other minecraft server.
At this point my hands are tied, i took a server vote, every says to leave faction claims as something remotely special for at least 2 people. I don't want to turn anyone away, we just want to encourage teamwork. If you log in and have a good spot you want to build in the wilderness, and an idea what to build there, just PM me, I can set you up with a plot.

Mainly, 1 person claims allow people to join the server, claim an area, fuck up the land and strip mine, unclaim and repeat elsewhere. Whereas finding 1 other person REALLY isn't that hard. Hell most people have an alt account. In addition to the fact that the common lands are 2000 chunks (a chunk is 16x16 blocks, you do the math) there's really nothing stopping you from having a good time but... you.

The river in the center of the map (the one in front of the common land spawn) needs a name. So far the only name we've come up with is "Navis". Any other suggestions.input?

The only rule I have is NO FANTASY RACES. In parnatha, everyone is human. I don't understand why you think I have some secrete club of friends on the server. We just launch 2 days ago, there's no whitelist. Find LITERALLY A SINGLE FRIEND OF YOUR OWN, and bring them on the server, boom you have a faction. What are you dense?

Yep! with plugins and command block deities.
I've increased faction power per member to 100. Thats huge, especially considering that with two people that makes faction power of 200.
I've also increased how fast your power builds while on the server.
