This is a(n) (un)surprisingly popular subgenre OP.
I know a couple but not of them are straight-up modern schoolgirl. There's Wail of the Maiden, which is this early 00s game about the slumkids of a futuristic Tokyo who group up in gangs and worship old tapes and debris of Japan's most famous fallen idol. A little earlier there was this game called Glitterknife, where you play kids in the fascistic prison-school system of an all-controlling state. That is supposed to be only for short games, because you start the game when the moderator of the school is killed and end when the state forces come, but you can actually do a lot with it.
