In 40k, was there ever such a thing as Psyker Squats?
>>46644782
One of those things that never got brought up much. I'd assume that abhuman psykers would be the first ones on the black ships en route to being sacrificed to the Emperor. Chaos Squats might have one or two running about, I guess.

Most likely. Nice thing about a universe so weird is that you can basically say anything happened as long as it doesn't interfere with any cannon.

The squats were considerably longer lived than humans, and they started developing psyker powers once they reached a certain age. These squats were known as Living Ancestors.

Hang on, found the page about them.

Thank you very much.

Got into the hobby less than two years ago. Tell me, from when is this masterpiece?
>>46647564
A really old edition of White Dwarf from the 80s or 90s, I think. Squats have long since ceased to exist in WH40K, because the faggots in Games Workshop's creative department thought the name Squat was silly and they were a joke race. Literally everyone else loved the shit out of the squats and squats were even among their best selling miniatures.
Seriously, fuck those guys.

Are there any other GW sources on Ancestor Lord statlines?
>>46647831
This is the only other page I have. I don't know if there's any more out there or not.
>>46647890
Where is it from?
>>46647635
Of course they're a joke race, they're space dwarves on motorcycles.
Just like Eldar are a joke race for being literally prissy space elves, or Orks.
40k is not a serious setting.

So what's the canon explanation of the disappearance of squats?
Or is it a total denial of them ever existing?
>>46647934
I'm assuming a Rogue Trader supplement, but it escapes me which one. I know it's not the main rule book, I have that and it doesn't have specific rules in that fashion, more a laundry list of stat lines and generalized equipment and scenarios.

Also Zoats. GW got rid of the Zoats.
Made the Orks more serious too, which is puzzling because a lot of us were just fine with them being the more evil or thuggish looking sort of Muppet.
I mean, they are sort of. Evil Muppets. Goblins and some Snotlings would literally not look out of place in Labyrinth.
Orks either, for that matter, just as "big Goblins".

>Made the Orks more serious too, which is puzzling because a lot of us were just fine with them being the more evil or thuggish looking sort of Muppet.
What happened to the Orks was Andy Chambers. As much as the overfiend was good for the franchise, he had a peculiar vision for them based around his pet Goffs.
Seriously, go read the 'ancient' Ork supplements in order of publication. Right about where Andy goes and does his example of random warband generation that first puts Ghaz in print you can start to track the change in character and the eventual dominance of Goff traits over all others.
>tl;dr Andy liked Goffs and when he got to write the codex he turned all Orks into Goffs.

Their worlds were wiped out by a hive fleet, but I don't know if that is still canon, with the demiurgs and all.
Thanks to this thread, I'm bathing in tears of nostalgia. Let's share the bearded goodness.

There was also a fandex made of the Squats.
It's sad squats were deleted, but I appreciate the sentiment of trying to move the setting away from "standard fantasy IN SPACE!" Dwarves and half-elves were probably the best options for removal, though.

>40k is not a serious setting
WAS not. It is a completely serious setting now, despite what the detractors say. All the silly stuff was purged by 5th edition.

Early oughts called: All the silly stuff was purged in third.
